  • This project is aimed at developing fairly advanced workflow using Blender, Flip Fluids addon and Davinci Resolve.
a.) The use of shrink wrap modifier on the ocean to wrap around the flip fluid is the major improvement from previous version.
b.) The use of flip attributes to color the water white depending on the speed & velocity of flip water is carried over from previous version. This was achieved by mixing Flip fluids preset waterfall_ff_1a into ocean displacement and gradient texture of the fluid surface material.
Hope you find this interesting and informative.

Nice work. I've found default value for advection strength too high; that means extremely curly waves and foam. I've never taken the time to do a serial test with different values but my intuition says that lower values would lead to more realistic results. Fantastic job here by the way.

Thank you! I agree with you for small scale sims. However, the default higher advection strength actually works in favor for large scale sims as it otherwise requires force fields to generate that much turbulence and thereby whitewater. Hope I made sense.

I have been trying to do this for a year now and I still can't make it happen..how did you do this...I wanted to make a sea monster emerge from sea and I want water to interact but it just doesn't work...I tried using flip fluid but still didn't work..not sure what I am doing wrong...any advice?

As you rightfully mentioned, such type of scenes take quite a lot of time to setup and simulate as they are computationally demanding and involve lots of steps. Moreover, we need to find workarounds for some fx to achieve in blender. If you’re interested, you can contact me through email or discord, the details of which are in the about page of this channel. Thank you!

Very cool! I‘m trying to recreate it. Its simple, but my Blender crashes when I go 400< resolution and btw. it takes years to bake it. Could you post a tut how to compute flipfluid bakes faster like you did with the common Blender fluid? Or is that just patience and hope.

I actually used flip fluids and I like it better than blender's mantaflow for liquid sims. Baking takes time. We need as much ram and as many cpu threads as we can to bake faster. If you just want to test, then turning down fluid surface subdivision from 1 to 0 might help with faster bakes for testing. For final bake however, fluid mesh needs to be of higher subdivision of atleast 1 or 2 for finer mesh.
