    I did Gojo-Ryu karate for 6 years and got a brown belt. The dojo was so watered down, I don't even know how I managed to get the brown belt and all you needed to do was punch air and maintain good attendance, which I wasn't good at, but my parents paid for private lessons and my sensei randomly promoted me. Point sparring disappointed me the most, it didn't feel like I had freedom to fight like how I wanted, all you had to do was tap the chest plate or headgear and the round was over and you got a point, which later made me quit to go and do BJJ and Muay Thai where I felt like I had freedom.

      As a goju ryu practitioner myself, I completely respect your opinion. It's really sad that a large percentage of dojos nowadays, especially in America are these watered down McDojos that are only in it for the money at the expense of your actual training. I'm lucky to go to a legitimate school that actually teaches techniques in different ways and we do full contact sparring.

    I have been training bjj for about 6 years (purple belt), cross training in wrestling once a week since last year, did about a month of judo, sporadically some boxing classes and karate as a kid (McDojo school). According to my experience, my tier list would be: A: wrestling, Muay Thai B: BJJ, boxing, kickboxing, Judo C:TKD, karate, capoeira F: aikido, wing chun, Krav Maga, Tai Chi

    Thai Boxing and Boxing, the only reason I say this is that in a real fight going to the ground is dangerous, especially if more than one person jumps in because at that point, you cannot escape as easily, so I would only go with keeping an escape route open at all costs if possible.

    If you've ever seen a boxer square off against an untrained fighter, you would give it an A.
    Thats because A) your opponent is LITERALLY trying to fight your fight (and that's why they have no shot) B) as you would expect, those confrontations never last more than a few seconds, and C) you never leave your feet. That makes it easier to defend against multiple attackers.

    I think Judo and BJJ are the best because street fights don´t have weight classes, and especially BJJ is designed to help prevent dmg/neautrilze bigger attackers. For similar weight oppenents I´d go with wrestling, as a wrestler will determine where the fight takes place.
    Muy Thai, boxing, Karate can all be very effective to different degrees if (1) you catch the person early (2) Your oppenent is not much bigger than you (3) The person agrees the fight should take place on the feet.

    • @PaintedPapi
      @PaintedPapi  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I see the point on the weight class with judo and bjj. However, one flaw I can see is the way jits and judo are trained. On their own, there’s no training against striking. Other than that, solid point.

      Never that simple, or based from logic. The most important thing in the street is what it has always been, experience in the street. Strong standup and ground game, as its always been. More about what you are smart enough to leave out and not bring to the table then what you do bring, which is counterintuitive, but fact.

    Muay Thai is always above boxing. The push kick or called teep tires them out trying to get into punching range. The elbows cut of punching range. The clinch prevents them from pinching and boxer does not know how to break clinch. I also think Muay Thai has the hardest round house kicks out there. I boxers thigh gets destroyed against Muay Thai fighter. The ducking leaves you open for knee to the face. The spinning back first is brutal too.

      You've never been in a nightclub brawl with your friends against 5 other guys at 2am whilst you're drunk have you? That's the most common fight in the West. Muay Thai is utterly pointless in this situation. Nearly all martial arts are. Boxing + wrestling is all you need for real world fights. Most are over in seconds and happen in the blink of an eye. BJJ is utterly pointless in a real world bar or nightclub brawl. The ability to knock someone out + stand up grappling is all you need and all that works in the real world.

    Ever heard of Kun Khmer? It's like exactly muay Thai but with crappier low kicks, however I don't see any difference between the two. There's a lot of nationality between both Thailand and Cambodia over either which is better, or which came first. I think Muay Thai is better cause it's more developed in my opinion and I do kind of stand by the better low kicks because I see a lot more low kick K.O's in Muay Thai than I see in Kun Khmer. But I would be interested to see your opinion on it and maybe even make a video about Kun Khmer and comparing it to Muay Thai to see which is better? You can find a lot of Muay Thai vs Kun Khmer fights all over TH-cam. But I would be interested to see you make a video on it discussing which of the two you think is better! Yes, I understand that kb has kicks but I only also put it at B because kicks are pretty much dismantled in short range distance vs Muay Thai at A, they have clinch in that range. However, if we were to be specific I’d put kickboxing at B+ just a little bit above boxing.
      I don’t disagree, I would like to see more kyokushin. Unfortunately, most karate schools are money grabbers. I enjoy watching fighters with karate background. Super technical and they take the least damage.

    Street fighting styles are more practical for self defense. Most people don't understand that MMA was just borrowed or stolen from street fighting or Jail House Rock, but they do not credited or pay homage to these urban street fighters for creating MMA. MMA has more lineage to street fighting than any traditional martial art. Let's start calling MMA what it actually is. Most young people don't know true street fighting anymore. The art and science has pretty much died culturally. This is the reason why MMA practitioners get away with calling it Mixed Martial Arts. Most young urban people in the hood have traded in this indigenous martial art for guns.

    Taekwondo by itself is kinda trash like you said, but as a martial art it's beautiful. like most martial arts when you train in it for most of your life you could use it a street fight. Also when you say about 10 year old black belts, black belts by itself does not mean you are a master or a perfect martial artist. In both Karate and taekwondo black belt is the beginning of learning advanced techniques and honing your own nature to become a better person inside and out. Color belts are used in order to sharpen your fundamentals as well as learn the main curriculum. Despite all of this there are some martial arts school still out there wanting that bag, but this is my experience as a martial artist that these kids only have a black belt because they know their basics and want to advance their learning.

    Did you mix up Silat with Kali? Silat has weapons but isn't weapon based. It has, depending on the style, a good ground game, self defense, kicks and punches.
    I think silat deserves a way higher spot, at least A tier. The mindset of silat is to end a fight as quickly as possible. Kinda different compared to BJJ which has depending on the school ZERO defense against strikes. So silat is good for street fights, you don't want to roll on asphalt, you don't want a clean perfect fight. You want to go home. In silat, you learn eye poking, groin kicks, headbuts, kicks to the head etc. Most of the stuff you learn isn't tournement legal cause of serious injury.
    So I don't get your ranking.

    None of the traditional martial arts styles work in the real world or real life with the exception of boxing, kickboxing and catch wrestling. Whenever these other martial artist get into a real fight they have resort to boxing, kickboxing, and catch wrestling. In addiction BJJ is pretty much just catch wrestling disguised as JJ. These traditional martial arts are good for flashy moves, movies and a good physical workouts. These martial arts are flashy but not practical in terms of self defense.

      Striking is making a comeback tho

      No, it should be in consideration. The ground is the last place you want to be in a street fight as your opponent might have friends that could stomp your head in at any moment. In a street fight you want to be mobile and quick, and you are not when you are on the ground.

    Wrestling is way more practical than bjj wtf, like the fight begins standing!

      I think wrestling is one of the worst for a street fight, go for a takedown is dangerous, you can get a knee in your face or be punched in the back of your head

  • @mrjayz94
    @mrjayz94 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Wrestling > BJJ, no contest:
    - BJJ only beats Wrestling when on the ground trying to submit.
    - Being on the ground trying to submit someone is the worst place to be in a fight.
    - The whole “90% of fights end up on the ground” is debunked Gracie propaganda.
    - Wrestling provides better takedown defence and is also better for getting you off of the ground.
    - Wrestling is better for slamming people from a standing position.
    - Wrestling’s intensity better prepares you for a real fight.

    Styles destroy the natural way u fight. A street vicousefighter will bit ya nose off and spit it back at u befor u can count to 3. Trust me. Real boxing is all u want to learn.

      I don't agree. I assume anyone decently experienced in martial arts would be able to predict an attack like that, you don't simply train for the arts themselves, your reflexes and flexibility are greatly heightened. And I've seen examples, I've literally seen a street fighter get knocked out by literal kung fu lol

    Placing kungfu and capoeira that low means you haven’t really study these arts closely. Both are very viable self defense systems for combat. You need to study the history and understand where these arts manifested from. Example Capoeira was a martial dance used to fight off slavery and for garafuna societies for well over 70 years. I challenge you to spar a real Mestre you’d change your mind very quickly. As far as kungfu, come on we all know kungfu is legit just depends on your style and teacher. You also put Silat at C, nah Bruh! You need some more basic understanding of real martial arts.

    Deadly war and combat --ancient tribe (ie:pacific ocean Lua-mostly Hawaii islands, apache frequently knifes 🔪 and surrounding areas and probably wrestling etc),USA white southern-gouging aka rough and tumble, assassin arts possibly do not count--ninjisu etc, mostly black African Americans communities street fighting-pickup 52 aka block 52 aka jailhouse Rock, other Korean martial arts-hapkido and hammou and hwarang do etc. Other Philippines 🇵🇭 islands martial arts-open palms, etc. Other wrestling styles of other nations--Mongolian and Scotland and Korea 🇰🇷 and Russia 🇷🇺 and China that separated from or improve other Chinese Kung fu. Ancient India 🇮🇳 martial arts 🥋. Native American martial arts-separated issue from apache-imitate ancient weapons and imitate possibly animals etc. Military mix martial arts worldwide.

    Boxing is better than bare knuckle fists of USA-not including pickup 52 aka jailhouse rock and Brazil 🇧🇷 free fighting for blood sport and vicious Phillipines Islands anything goes for vicious dueling, self defense, criminal activity, etc, Chinese kung-fu 's iron claw, iron fists, long fist 👊, pressure points 👉, animal styles-such as:tiger style, eagle claw, stone monkey, fighting monkey 🐒 🙈, drunken monkey 🐒, etc. Any fighting that targets vulnerable parts of body 😉 (such as:throat, groin, genitals, etc).
