You could’ve just watched the video like a normal person, but you chose to be pathetic and desperate like so many others in the comments. Well, at least you guys are predictable, so there’s that.
What I would suggest is you position the leg in all three positions to get maximum effect. The same movement but you place your other leg in front of the step, on the side, and on the back like you see here
For anyone also having knee trouble i recently started doing a backwards walk and run up and down very slowly down grassy hills Do 30 minutes up and down jog or run backwards up lightly and carefully walk backwards down and in about 20-30 days your knee pain will be non existent and you will have almost full mobility back in your knee if it’s just strained

Shouldn't feel your lower back at all with this. Either a stabilization issue or bad hinge mechanics. I think Squat University has some videos on how to properly hinge, so check it out
Thank you so much. My stupid brain could not isolate my glutes at all before I found this exercise. I'll come back in a while to let everyone know if my non-existent butt was able to grow for the 1st time in my life! (I'm 27 and have been working out for over a decade lmao)
