Thank you for an honest review on the RGB20SEX 😂 I love it as well. I am like you you though and prefer verticals for retro games. The screen is absolutely gorgeous and you had me dying with the snitch style joysticks.

I bought the RGB30 (mostly to play Pico 8) because of your video and I'm having a blast playing SNES, Pico 8, GBC and even GBA! The screen is fantastic.
PS: using postmaster to play some PC games works surprisingly well. My favorites so far are Cave Story, VVVVVV (both classics), bumpers and broadswords, but the game I can't seem to put down so far is nuclear throne mobile.

Great that powkiddy desided to go for vertical rgb30. Man... I love the nostalgic looks of vertical handgelds! I end up ordering horizontal(35xxh) tho as I found it way more comfortable due to my big hands.... And now by just watching you play, you made me realise I was just holding vertical consoles wrong... 😅

When I was a kid I had a snes and that damn jurassic park game was so hard but so ahead of it's time, I played it all the time for years and never got close to beating it as a little kid, seeing a small glimpse of it in this video gave me a flashback off breaking snes controllers raging out as a small gamer lol

Can't wait for the pico 8 video. The screen is what had me circling the RGB30, but it looked uncomfortable. This though looks a bit more interesting. Is it similar in size to the 405V, That thing was so comfortable to hold and game on.
I wonder what it would've looked like without the sticks and they kept it simple for all retro emulation up to PS1. Cause man that is one TALL BOY. But then again a lot of people wouldn't buy a Retro Handheld without joysticks cause they do come in handy for Arcade games, especially Shmups and N64 obviously so it would be a ruffer sale maybe. Looking forward to that Pico-8 vid ! :)

I've always been a square so you can say I'm a square nerd. I remember those square floppy C-64 disc. The disc drive sounded like it was eating the disc.
I picked up an RGB30 last year as my one and only handheld, and I keep watching videos about new handhelds, but I just can't pull the trigger. The RGB30 is all I need.
Possibly in first 10? Happy to catch it early!

I agree that the 16:9 systems can get a little too small. So if you can zoom about 5 - 10% on those, that should do the trick.

That screen looks so good, but if I get one then it's a slippery slope to being a collector, but my RP3+ is not great for GB and I assume worse for Pico 8 😬
I might be interested in the as a pureley vertical shooter machine. I would love a 3:4 ascpect device (4:3 on its side) but this is close enough.
What I would really like is that screen in something with higher build quality.
I ended up selling my rgb30 just because I was frustrated with how finicky the charging is.
Also, more pocketable devices with a square or gameboy aspect ratio would be great to have.

Is the non functioning button a Function button? Like if you hold down the button and then tap Start or Select, does it do something else?

I still think to play these systems anbernic ARC is the best device for the systems like gb/gba/gbc/nes/genesis/mega etc the comfort, screen and buttons are high quality and nostalgic at the same time, also i kind of skip powkiddy because of their horrible build and lack of support. after ad experience with RGB30 i tried again with RGB10MAX3 preordered but couldn't start it ever, board inside was problem, they refuse to help, on the other hand anbernic/ retroid/ even retailers of Magic and Rs help you for OFB failures. never had once a failure with any other brand I have around 30 ish consoles excluding high end decks(2) and Ally.

Yup same quirkyness, however I did the same thing I did on my RGB30 to help with the battery calibration - charge it fully, open it up, unplug battery for 10 seconds, then slap it back together. Completely fixed the goofy battery problems I was having.

So wait, are they still updating JELOS for the RPG30? I mean if the 20sx is basically the same thing but verticle that means you're getting a firmware that won't see anymore updates unless the devs changed their minds. I thought that was the whole reason ROCKNIX came along... I need to know if I should switch over now.

It feels so good to play pico-8 on this thing, I love it so much. Everything looks beautiful and you know I love verticals. Also? Loved that Tetris gameplay.

Do you always place your screen facing out in your pocket for the device you're carrying?
Depends on the device, I could go either way, it's more about which direction is more comfortable
@TechDweeb gotcha. I usually have screen facing inwards because I worry about it getting hit by something. Like a low countertop or table.
Hey I got a question please MR tech dweeb - how common are TWO USB C ports?? Im looking for a device like this, but I much prefer USB c headphones, so this one might be ideal, but are there others like this mate?
It's not very common. Powkiddy devices are usually the only ones that do it like this. The X55 also has 2. I can't vouch for the USBC headphone compatibility though, I don't have any to test.

There are lots of systems an original gba can emulate with just an omega flash card and some sofware tweaks... Have you tried that? If i remember well you can play gb, gbc, gba, nes and sms. You also have a square screen 😘

I wish Pico-8 would properly work on Anbernic devices. Cause they use a hacked/cracked core and therefore half of the games dont even boot up
