    I absolutely love mine. I ordered it with the grips. They didn't send the grips AND they sent the wrong color and I still can't be mad. This device is absolutely amazing for ps2 and GC. Plus many many others.

    I love my Retroid Pocket 4 Pro. Fast shipping. Loaded 1 TB of roms and couldn't be happier. I don't give a shit about OLED screens. I wanted a smaller compact system that played PS2 games and I got it. This system kicks ass.

    Title is absolutely bang on. RP4P just does it all in such a great form factor. It's kind of the dark horse of handhelds to me. Everyone talks about all the other devices out there, but in the glory days of GBC, GBA, NDS the biggest reason I loved those so much was they were always with me in my pocket. RP4P is really the only one out there that can do GC/PS2 emulation while still being incredibly portable. We've got the Odin 2 Mini coming out that should be fairly similar in size, but at a $330 price point. RP4P still will be the best bang for your buck at $200.

    Picked this bad boy up on a whim. Had been eyeing a steam deck forever but couldnt justify it. Had the gamesir x2 pro phone controller and used steam link on a beefed up PC. Plus my phone has a SD 8 gen 1 soc which is better than the RP4P but it was cumbersome. Phone didnt have expandable memory, when i wanted to play i had to dig out my controller etc. Opted for this thing and its great with the grips. Unusable without. Swtich emulation is nuts for this thing. Only things i dont like are the joystick placement (grip makes it way more comfortable) and the screen leaves more to be desired but not terrible. The form factor + power is the absolute killer combo as well as the price. Id feel like such a nerd whipping out a behemoth handheld PC like the deck vs this little guy.

    Glad to see someone showing the Anbernic Arc D/S some love. We need more devices with six buttons on the front, it's really nice for fighting games. The Retroid Pocket 4 Pro and Steam Deck are still my favorite devices I have bought over the years. The PS Vita is also a really great device, especially since I can't get a bunch of Vita games running right on the Android emulator. The Vita had a lot of great games and does pretty well with the systems I've emulated on there (mostly arcade and older consoles).

    • @mymusicaljesus
      @mymusicaljesus 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@adinwalls which is basically what it came down to. The 3D effect is something I genuinely enjoy (I know it can be devisive), but the clarity of the Retroid's screen and ability to play PS2, PSP, wii and GameCube just make this the better investment.
      Plus, as I just turned 40, sometimes the ease of having one device for all my old games in one place just seems so much more appealing than all the work of managing different devices for different games.

    Love the review! I went with the Retroid Pocket 2S specifically because it's slightly smaller and easier to fit in my pocket, which is important to me because I have to wear tight jeans for work. Plus, it's cheaper and it's powerful enough to play some PS2 and GC games which is enough for me on the go. I just wish it had a slightly bigger screen. Otherwise the based RP4 was on my radar as a budget and pocket friendly companion to my Steam Deck OLED. Having a powerful and pocketable console is amazing no matter which one you get, so I'm excited to see what the future holds and I look forward to your future videos!

      @@CjShino91 that's pretty crazy, I feel like RP2S is a pretty underappreciated device now that the 4 and 4 Pro are out, but I think the form factor and price, mixed with the performance you're getting, make it incredibly appealing. Thanks for making me feel better about my decision between the two!

    • @brandongabel
      @brandongabel 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Patrick-bn5rp yeah the 16:9 screen really made me want the 4, but it would have stuck out of my pocket a little and been slightly less comfortable than the 2S so that was the main deciding factor. A few years ago I would have been all over the RP4+. Nowadays I look at handhelds in a different way and have a different set of priorities. Native aspect ratio and a fitting design give me the nostalgia that I seek. With that in mind, Sega retro games feel great on the RG Arc-D’s 4” screen and 6 button layout. Likewise, Nintendo games feel great on the RG405v DMG.
    If someone just wanted one device for £200, I wouldn’t choose an RP4+. The RP4’s 4.7” 750p screen is poor next to the 5.48” 1080p AMOLED screen on the RG556. A bigger battery and better ergonomics are also a plus. Performance is slightly better on the Retroid for PS2 games as is better portability. I’d say the 4 non + is the better value.
    At the end of the day, I just don’t think there’s a one size fits all solution. Great video though and an interesting take on the vast amount of handhelds today.

    Ive had mine since launch, had the faulty triggers, their replacement time was pretty quick so their customer service has been really good so far. the one thing I will say is I got the skull&co stick caps and it really made the sticks feel even better. I agree with the grip being optional being a great compromise for both people that want a pocketable device and having an ergonomic device. the grips for the 4pro really do feel great. my main selling factor that a lot of reviewers seem not to understand is that the size and screen being smaller than other devices in the same price and power range, are just bulky and not as portable. not that I have a problem with those devices but this fits in my pocket. I Dont need a carrying case to bring it with me to work.
