Sarasota, FL here. 5 days with no power. We were denied the basic $750. It took an hour & a half to reach a FEMA representative on the phone to find out why our claim was denied. They told us they didn’t have the money to give us. My family, friends, neighbors, & coworkers are also being denied & told the same reason. We are not all in on some grand conspiracy. We have nothing to gain from lying about this!
I had to do separate filings but the fema inspector will come out and go over everything you lost and you know whatever you went through and they will help you I have to say and admit that they will help you and I'm so happy and thankful ❤️❤️❤️
It appears they have done away with the $750 ….you don’t just get that automatically anymore, you have to supply receipts of any losses incurred due to the outage then it goes through a review process. Ours was denied. Oh and if you have insurance damage won’t be covered. They are no longer covering loss of food spoilage from outages either. If you had to buy a generator and have the receipt for that you may be able to get some of that refunded, but you must supply receipts. I think it was around $600 at one point, but that may have changed.
Was impacted by Milton, Filed a claim and was rejected. When you need help and won’t get it. FEMA is a joke and did not help many. Big thanks to the governor of Tampa who provided resources and to the military who also provided the community with water, food and ice.

Also keep saying emergency funds for food (like in this video too) and on fema app but they tell you repeatedly it’s not for food.
