A p1698 means the pcm is not recieving a bus message from the tcm. The vehicle bus is one wire that runs to each module as there means of communication. Could be a broken wire, bad connection, or possibly a bad module. Unless your pretty sure about what your doing and have some good wiring diagrams you should probably take it to your dealer. Here is what it is:
Hey Rick! Electronic automotive problems are definitely a pain in the rear. I can certainly appreciate your frustration with 'your' particular problem. On my 1999 GMC Sierra I have an airbag light that just won't go out. Nothing comes up on my analyzer, and, without taking it to a mechanic I guess I'm just stuck with having to look at it continuously. I thought about going behind the instrument cluster and unplugging the light, but, I don't want this to pose a serious problem for the person that buys this truck later. Electrical tape, over the outside of the cluster light?... nah! I'm about to go bonkers over this, and, at MY age I'm more than half way there anyway! Lol! Always look forward to a new video from you! Kudos to Martin for all of his help to you...what a great friend to have with such a big heart! Stay safe, be happy, love God, stay hydrated where you live, and, I'll see you in the next video! ( 8/20/2019. Tuesday. 5:57amCST. ~Jim in Houston, Texas~ )
Hey so I’m 8:25 in, and I’ll tell you that I’m not sure what it is, I have the same issue, I get a no bus on my odo if the Tcm is plugged in. When unplugged all my gauges come back on but I have to shift manually.
If your transmission don't get overdrive: check your brake light switch on your brake pedal, is a break light switch/over drive Switch as well when the brake pedal keep contact against the switch Working as an over drive switch
At the risk of showing my general knowledge on this (I'm searching for info to help Hubby), can u possibly give me a lil more deets on what exactly u mean plz?! I can't exactly explain it but ur comment jumped out at me! Thanks in advance!
I have same problem with gauges and have tried many things including wire adapter for the TPS99. One other item mentioned a lot is CPS. Put aftermarket in and it happened a lot. Put MOPAR crank pos sensor in and rarely happens. Like once a week for a few miles now. Also changed with refurbished PCM and still no joy. Fuse number 9 on pass side need to be cleaned and not corroded. Mine has to be ground. It’s the only thing left.
I have an 02 dodge ram 1500 cargo van. My scanner it's capable of reading abs modules. But when I plug it to this van obd2 I can only read the ecm. Not the pcm and abs module . When i try the abs it gives me a msg "to use Chrysler CCD connector. My abs and brake light are always on and I can't retrieve codes from the abs module because of this CCD adapter or connector?🤔 Do you have any ideas how to go about this? I'm completely ignorant on this matter as of today. I'm reading stuff on Google but it's not sinking in. Thank you for your video. Any information you can help me out with? Thanks again.
my chrysler pt cruiser keeps doing some weird crap, sometimes you'll be driving and it'll go in neutral revving all dash lights come on ding ding ding, battery, etc lights, then engine like dies for a second then goes again, sometimes the car will die completely sometimes it dont, sometimes you turn the key on and everything is dead, radio looses clock time when it does all this sometimes, it even miss fired like a backfire or flooded . almost everytime its something different
It was my pleasure, I'm only sorry that we couldn't find the problem. But I'm not about to give up. And a big thank you for plugging my channel.
its the least I could do!

Boy,if it werent fer bad luck, Heres hoping ya find the problem sooner than later.
IKR?
Me too, got a 2000 jeep doing same thing after engine
My 97 XJ threw this code along with a check gauge warning because my volt meter was all the way left. Put in a new alternator in and problem solved.
Hang in there Rick, It will turn out to be something stupid! Did you check the air pressure on the spare tire?
DOH!
No it is the thingamabobber that's connected to the whatchamacallit.
@@chriscampbell2327 and I've been messing with the doohickie this whole time....
