It sure is easier to remove that switch when the gear box is out of the car. I would put the tabs on the lock washer on the bottom, easier to remove when the next person does it from under the car. I was not able to fit the zip tie, just can't get my hands in that tight space. A good tip if you are doing it from under the car, tie a string to the plug, makes it so much easier to pull the cable back up. I took mine out today, cleaned it inside, works great now. Thank for the video! Cheers

Next thing im planning is looking for the right factory style wheels its got after market custom wheels on it now and i prefer the factory styles that jeep had better. Congrats Dan on 10k subscribers!!! I had to replace the NSS on my 96 XJ and it was a pain (without rust). I ended up using a 3 jaw puller with the point seated on the shaft to get it off. I think what helped you was all the time the penetrating fluid got to sit and do its work.

@Project Dan H . Dan, since it was 68 degrees outside today, I decided it would be better to replace my nss on my 93 xj. Now with the old one, I was gonna take it apart tomorrow, clean the inside out, put a dab of die electric where the springs are that push the contacts out so they make contact to all 4 or 5 contacts from the wiring harness. Now with that said, once it's cleaned out, lubed up & assembled, can I hook it up to the harness under the hood, put the key in the on position and rotate the switch to see if the backup lights come on in the reverse position. If I can, then it should tell me that the nss is in working order if the backup lights do come on. They haven't been and yes, I've had to jiggle it back and forth from park to neutral in order to start this baby to start about every 2nd or 3rd time I tried staring my xj....Thanks Dan, MD...

@Project Dan H. Great video Dan. I just bought a 1993 Cherokee that came from Colorado City, Colorado. The underside, along with the rest of the body & doors are completely rust free. I told my wife that it'll outlive this 2010 Patriot I bought 11 months ago, which is on it's way out because of the poor engineering, along with cheap material that is used today on all the Jeep Models. At any rate, I was told that the NSS was starting to go bad, which did act up when I picked up the Jeep today. I ordered one and will be putting it on next week while it's still nice outside because I'm here in Michigan.... Now you pulled the AW4 trans out because you're putting in a manual trans right? Thanks, Dan

@@ProjectDanH I pulled the carpet up on the front passenger side yesterday and the floorpan looked great, no surface rust. I might be able to get a 1999 that is a rust bucket and will need a trans because it's slipping. It has one of those $350-$400 stinger front bumpers (no winch), along with a new set of tires & rims. Guy is asking $950 obo. I'm thinking about buying it just because I'd rather have a beater for the 2 worst winter months. Because this 93 XJ is so clean, now I'm turning into a scardy cat about driving on our salty roads. I've got a set of Hankook Dynapro ATM 245/R75/16's w/Vision Wheel Rims. So if the automatic car wash down the street says that it's go through their conveyor without issues, I might drive it this winter. I suppose I can put the original rims back on but they're studded snow tires and I believe that means I can be ticketed if caught driving with em.
