oh wow.. nice! well I amworkin on '99 XJ right now with 1698 no communication no start/run. now i know what is probly the fault cause and wehst i need to do awesome vid i want to rate this one 10,000 wow!~
Not sure if i mentioned it.. But, a lot of Jeep have hard wire instead of multi strand wires between body and door controls.. Many find the wires in the door to body boots broken causes gremlins in the door controls. Half my controls and speakers did not work. After searching and finding wired broken on all 4 doors and repairing with jumpers. Everything works now. Good Luck !
Had to open up my computer and peel the potting material off the board. Then resolder the 4 legs of the 12v-5v DC/DC stepdown chip. The no bus was killing me foreve until I opened the pcm. Simple fix after you pinpoint the issue to the voltage dropping at the PCM and not at any of the 5v ref sensors. While I was in there I also reflowed the solder points for all the transistors for the fuel etc.
Congrats, Rick on the fix! 👍. I'm by no means a mechanic but found this video every interesting, as, I do all of your videos! Something like that can certainly drive a good man nuttzo! I'm with ya there brother. Give me a paper service manual (or anything I'm going to read) my friend sent me a copy of his service manual but it's a pdf so I have to open it on my phone and it is extremely frustrating simply attempting to navigate it. You can't go reference a page while holding your thumb on the page your referencing the latter from! Then I somehow hit a button on the side and it decides to scroll hundreds of pages. It's terrible, I'm in agreement 100%, give me a book.

Auto electric is one if my weakest areas and if I am going to read a map, I’ll need the key for it. If another resource is required, a suggestion in the reply would be appreciated. I’ve got the same code along with lean fuel codes and cat codes. Save from that, the XJ is healthy. (Not pretty, like my wife). Thx for the vid
I wish I could be more helpful/useful but ,mostly I just poke things with a stick and take somewhat informed guesses. I google the heck out of a subject in hopes that some of the spaghetti will stick. Its a process that works...for me anyway. At least you have your pretty wife to remind you of your mental acuity.
dzlfreek Can you imagine if we had Google as kids and didn’t take it for granted? I had to use an encyclopedia for everything in the known universe - not unlike so many others. I have an affinity for technical books that don’t require a Doctorate. 🤪. I simply wish I spent more time making useful videos in areas where I learn and discover that nobody else has done one yet. Good Luck! And no worries - you’re pretty too.🤣🤣

i got a 2000 xj having same issue, what fuse/wire did you use to run the jumper wire from? and what size fuse did you use on the inline rfuse?

I got the same issue on my 200xj with the transmission , NO BUS but the scanner says no connection .. So not even able to read a possible code

My TCU has power and grownd and the cable from the switch has power too, any ideas ?
just gotta chase down every circuit. have you changed the TCU with a known good?
