My neighbor picked up his Dark Horse last week. It now has 1502 miles on it. We took it to the dyno today. 444, 445, 457 rwhp. That’s less than 11% loss from 500 @ the crank. I ordered a Dark Horse also. I have had 9 passes at the track in this car. The Pirelli Trofeo RS tires are better than Michelin Cup 2R tires and that is exactly what Ford Engineers told us and why they put these on the car instead of the Cup 2R tires. Car weighed at the scales at 3705 lbs. this car has the Handling package. I found out that the Recaro seats are 36 pounds lighter than the premium heated/ventilated pwr seats. Hence the DH would weigh 3741 pounds. Removing the seat, swapping the rims, getting the smaller battery exchanging the hood will bring the weight down to 3660. So that will make a difference overall that will be noticeable. The guys in Wisconsin got 60-0 braking to 98 feet and repeated that even with their heavy DH.
My neighbor whose car we were in today so his GT-350R became he blew the engine. So he is liking his DH more because he is not afraid of the Flat Plan Crank. We both plan to boost the cars this time next year. Ford did well with this DH. Stop with all the negativity. The car drives better than the S550 Mach 1. Cheers 💪👍😎🇺🇸

@@mikehughes8023: Mike Ford senior management provided the encryption to the ECU/ECM to Ford Performance, Whipple & RTR. So in 12-18 months most people will be able to tune. Ford management realizes that the Mustang owners desire to enhance their cars and that includes tuning. They just desire a piece of that market. So eventually the S650 will be able to do whatever you were able to do with the S550. Right now you can go to Whipple and install their SC 3.0 & their tune. So that’s a start until the encryption is passed on. At RTR you can install Whipple or VMP. So stay positive. That’s the American Way Dude‼️👍💪😎🇺🇸✝️

@@Fittednocap: I did. I already have two manual cars and my wife won’t drive those two cars; a corvette 427 and a Porsche 911. So we are saving the Dark Horse as the commuter car so she can drive it more comfortably in the Washington DC hideous traffic. I wanted the Tremec 6-spd but I caved to have less tension in the home.

I was wrong. I absolutely am in love with this 2024 Dark Horse. It fits like a glove, and more! I'm learning what it means to have a performance vehicle.

@@tri3pleagent I'm 62 and was never on a track before. Can't speak for the other driver but he was surely younger. The track was 3/4 mile with 11 turns (not great for either car). Just saying, don't underestimate the Dark Horse. Ford made something special. You should embrace it. Have fun.

@9originalpinstripe9 well the gt350 has 26 mor hp and is way lighter so I bet it will still beat it on the track. Most of us in America drag race we could care less about lap times lol

The gt350R is 4 times better at cornering and raw breaking than the dark horse. The R has better aero and wider wheels for grip. Give both of them steeda stop the hop package and the shelby becomes 6 times better because now the shelby has no body roll and better feed back and reactivity. Better center of gravity with the wider fenders allows to stay at the cars limit for longer…. Tell me why a dark horse is in the picture?
The camaro can still beat the Dark Horse on the track.

It’s a great vehicle - why so much hate??? Fun to drive - sharp vehicle - sounds amazing - turns heads all day long!!
we ordered track with automatic because it shifts better on road course, most of these track cars do, they just do , 2 hands on the wheel is just more confident and fun , especially when teaching my 16 year old son how to get around the track, but agree , 99% of people are just getting Dark horse to daily drive and the manual will be more fun, and excellent quality on your video !

@@JOHNNYLONNELL58 love it , it’s just a sweet ride , we have not gotten to track yet , we will do that this Summer VIR , but we love it on our country roads, rides like a Cadillac and rails through curves , the brakes are insane!!!! We got automatic as it just makes it more fun to keep two hands on the wheel on track
They made the car heavier purposely to counterbalance the drift. i learned that when he first went into the drift, it makes alot of sense

So overall you really like the Dark Horse. I’m just trying to decide if a base Dark Horse with handling package is really worth it or if I should wait a few years.
Have you driven the Mach 1? I feel that the comments you made when mentioning the S550 were more suited to a GT rather than the comparable Mach 1.
Grest video as dumb as the title is. Its a great car but way WAY overpriced. Id take a used gt350 over this any day of the week.

Enjoy it? Not when I'm paying an arm and a leg for it. It's unacceptable, these manufacturers need to do a better job and we as consumers need to call them out before mediocre fabrication becomes the normal standard.

@triple seven what’s the ride quality like compared to a s197 or s550, and I would like to buy an auto dark horse would that be a good decision considering it will be my daily driver and there’s no canyon or backroads around me to enjoy manual

So just for the sake of clarity as I went out to a ford dealer to confirm the OE tire on the non-handling pack DH. They are PZero PZ4's which are fairly long in the tooth now, and aren't nearly a match to the PS4S or the ExtremeContact Sport 02's. I question why ford went pirelli and I assume the answer probably came to cost. Ford has confirmed they are using michelin's for their mustang challenge with the dark horse r so its kind of a let down that they wouldn't provide the best tire in the segment for the current top trim mustang that is supposed to be the basis for the racing program.
Decent review, would've been better if you had shown what was underneath all the covers. I'll officially reserve judgement on the car until after I drive it back to back with my S550 (which is still stock less wheels and tires), but I'm not seeing much worth in trading in. But then again there isn't a purple and I don't think there is another purple in the works for the 7th gen, at least in the near future.
We knew we’d be making 18s for the car to if the Apex’s didn’t clear the front calipers so we could run interchange sets with the S550 we use for competition. Once the wheels come in, we’re bringing both cars to Sebring to compare laps on the same tire, but it’ll be 305 square on the 18s or 30/65/18 if we run slicks.

Hennessey has a video with a 6 speed Shelby GT350R smoking a 10 Auto Dark Horse in a roll on race. Now a drag race would probably be different, but the Shelby would be the better on the track.

Where exactly have you seen anything about a break-in mileage? Where does it say there's more power after break in ? Or there's any difference in the instrument cluster gauges ? where is this fictitious mileage and those differences published ?.... for example the Corvette, it restricts you I'm going anywhere you shouldn't be during break in, it SPECIFICALLY mentions differences in the tachometer gauge and instrument cluster and performance levels at a certain mileage.... the corvette literally will not let you go into that RPM range during break in and then it increases two or three thousand more after, Mustangs doesn't do that though... Dark Horse is overhyped as a Corvette for example is 2.6 seconds to 60 and a quarter mile at 11.20.... for the same 700000
That car is not a better performance vehicle than the Shelby GT350.

Home run! These new gen7 Mustangs are better in every way. Kudos to Ford Motor for investing in a new sports car when others are eliminating there offerings soon. There are pseudo sports cars available that are overpriced w/ negligible performance benefits. Can't go wrong w/ a Mustang. My experience anyhow. -NY

It’s funny to get comments about seating position because I’ve gotten it for sitting too close, and also too far, just depends on the car.
The Mustangs pedal box I find is usually on the far side. I drive with the wheel telescoped as far in as possible.

He couldn't beat my gt350r, he couldn't even beat my track time. Of course my car is modified, oh that's right you can't do that to the dark gelding.
Just to clarify what a gelding is, it's a horse with no balls . Oh I'm sorry if you don't have the skills or ability to drive a s550 chassis. It's up to you as a driver to overcome any short comings of the vehicle. Control of any vehicle is based on the drivers skill and ability.

Yeah this dark horse is an embarrassment. Maybe tuning/mod options will unleash its real potential. All in all I still plan to enjoy it as I've already put in my order. This will be my 3rd Mustang. 1st was a 04 terminator, then an 05 gt and now the dark horse soon
It's a nice car for sure. I have a GT350 and love it...but I had higher hopes for the Darkhorse at 70plus k

@superblack9570 I bought my 18 Gt350 brand new in December of 2019 for 52k. Thr bottom of the curve. The car I'd love to pick up over Darkhorse is the Mach 1 with the handling package.
@poopscooper5038 yeah the markups are pretty bad, MSRP on the one I ordered was 57k. Markups put me at 66k. I've seen massive markups up to 80k
