IF this means we the US and a coalition of the willing over the next decade, need to fight Ru directly, then that is what we must do. All one needs to see is how that poor guy around '06 fared-- so horrific. Only sadists do this sort of thing ,and always remember that my american conservative politicians have been repeatedly and still now sympathetic with russian interests. This is not by mistake.

Hi everybody, Today at 16:00EDT in Montreal, Guy/St-Catherine a march for Ukraine is taking place. CTV reported that it will start at Phillips Square near Bay Store on St-Catherine..I reckon we will march one towards another and meet in the middle. In Montreal is a sunny but chilly day, with some -20°C but the soldiers in trenches in Ukraine have not a choice do they? So we will march for them, for Ukraine. I will proudly have the NAFO patches on me and we will reaffirm the small dollar donors that will stand with Ukraine. I feel good when Ukraine inflict damage with drones that we helped fund. I feel good a soldier will have his life saved by the tourniquet and the trucks we funded , with Artur Rehi, Suchomimus, Ukraine Matters, Noel Reports different fundrais. Nafo 69 sniffing brigade will march today in Montreal. Slava Ukraini

The fact that certain Western leders "" tried to get Zelensky to leave Ukraine and thus Ukrainians abandon and left without a national leader, should terrify us all. Huge respect for Zelensky to stay put with his people. Some of the most bitter realisations from WWII Europe was that so-called leaders/politicians fled (after having disarmed the nation) and left the population to figure life out on their own, and then, after the war, they came back, took the same positions in society they had left and began to persecute people who had to survive under occupation. Disgusting.

I have postulated this for a few years, however I believe it requires restarting, for those I may not have seen it before.
The dictator's dilemma, or why dictators fear democracy?
To explain what's gong on in the Ukraine, there are proximate causes and there are ultimate causes and most of the news today is only covering proximate causes, they should elucidate what the underlying ultimate causes which are driving this conflict.
The dictator's dilemma describes a conundrum for dictators. They usually have to do unconscionable and illegal things to get into power, and once they're in power they must escalate the level of repression, jailing and outright murder or genocide to retain their power and wealth.
If they ever lose power they will face trial resulting in jail or even execution.
They even have to worry about neighboring countries becoming democratic, because if this occurs their own people will start desiring democracy, which presents a threat to the dictator, for example, the Arab spring and the uprising of the people's desire for democracy, was met with a brutal response.
So the decision of a dictator can be viewed in the context of a sociopath/psychopath, which is to obfuscate, lie and attempt everything to stop democracy taking hold, however, if this fails, then it's "if I'm going down I'm taking everybody with me".
I believe the above dictator's dilemma describes what's going on with Putin in Russia and China as well as other dictatorial and authoritarian ruled countries and this represents a great danger to peace in our world.

Anna is wonderful. I’ve been subscribed to her channel from the beginning. What I really like is her ability to maintain focus on what is important in a very humane and engaging way. I think she is wrong about the effect of sanctions on Russia, however. They are hurting badly and it’s going to get much worse. The transition to a war economy gives Russia the temporary appearance of health, like someone with a high fever can look as if he has a healthy glow. It will all catch up to them, especially when their rainy day fund runs out and hyperinflation hits. The ruble is already toilet paper in international markets. My only real concern is our reprehensible Republicans.

  • @Vonfleet
    @Vonfleet 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Bingo! Anna hit on a very important and seldom talked about point regarding Article 5, and I agree with her entirely. Given the relatively weak and pathetic response of NATO to the Ukrainian war, I'm not convinced that NATO would respond robustly to aggression against a small NATO country. I think it's very possible they would cite the same excuses, escalation, WW III, etc.. I think this suspicion is only enhanced by the possibility of a Trump led America pulling away. After all, we see it right now. The aid from America has stalled, and no country in Europe has stepped up to show decisive leadership or to fill the void. They just stand around making speeches, giving lip service, while waiting around for someone else to do something. There is nothing chivalrous or honorable about a collection of relatively wealthy nations sitting around on loads of high-tech weaponry unwilling to physically defend smaller countries inside or outside of NATO. It's disgusting!

Throughout history the powerful who tried to rule or subjugate people fear one thing humor.
There is a reason, one can listen to quotes or speeches by the powerful and someone makes a joke and it sticks forever and this makes those who are trying to rule over others look foolish.
A long powerfully SoundLink speech can be put down by a very short quip or joke.
These jokes spread like wildfire and if one is laughing at the dictator, it undermines their power.
Even the Soviet Union was ripe with short jokes about the powerful.
I believe encouraging battle by humour which can raise morale amongst people and the combatants.
In lieu of the above may I start with one joke?
Why can poop not pull out of the Ukraine,
Because it sounds like sex education, "Putin pull out, Putin pull out, Putin pull out;-)
I can only hope this you may find this suggestion useful and encourage the growth of jokes about your dictators.
And I suspect this is probably been going on for some time, however to start out with a joke or the , beginning beginning, middle or end of a podcast, will end up spreading the jokes around the world showing that ukrainians in the face of an evil dictator stand up with a sense of humor and it will spread and thus embarrass those attacking.

Thank you Jonathan and Anna - two strong voices for Ukraine's right to defend itself and the world. The 24th was a very sad anniversary but we need to increase support for Ukraine. Sacrificing Ukraine will increase risks of a much bigger war or multiple wars. Western media often focus on personal conflicts and radiate bland neutrality because of fear and ignorance (which in 2024 is inexcusable). The easiest (and wrong) approach to Kremlin statements is to repeat them as if they are credible.

    Salushny & Selensky:
One of RU's goals is to destroy democracy and it nearly succeeded. Having open democratic elections is hardly possible during wartime.
Thus, doubt will be seeded around the world, whether the choice of Selensky and Siersky is a valid one.
UA's do exactly the right thing: They openly argue about it, pros and cons, and it seems to me like the best democratic approach was held by simply hearing everybody's free voice.

They haven't clearly repeated over and over again what will realistically happen if we don't give more. 20 million refugees was one of the best lines but I haven't seen enough push on that. More explanation what that would look like. No work for them and even US would feel the EU crisis.

I know that Ukraine will never be subdued but with the trumpite wing of the US refusing to send them aid right now, things are going to get really tough. The evil slime is encroaching and the ability to stem the stinking flood of it is getting weak. But I do think it will improve as the year progresses. Sadly many precious Ukrainian lives will be lost before that though. We can lay these awful statistics at the door of Mikhail Johnsky.

I know that Rodger Waters (Pink Floyd) has some unacceptable views and comments that I cannot agree. But in one of his songs he used the words “The Bravery of Being of or Range”. To me this is a fairly good description of what is going on in the west.

Felt like Anna is becoming an adult here - well done both! Some significant self-awareness sprouting and appreciation of perspective. Gone are the jokes about the Russian army (sadly for us, the strongest army in Ukraine now) being the 3rd or the 4th.
Where she still misappraised the situation, it's due to the inevitably propagandized wartime environment.
My question is tho, "Why not sit at the negotiation table with the Russian enemy representatives and convince them of the 'body slam' coming their way (while the US hasn't turned tail yet) to get the best outcome for Ukraine, without losing hundreds of thousands more lives?"
The other option, given the current deficit in artillery, air power and manpower, is to gradually lose Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kharkiv after those cities are pulverized like Mariupol. Ukrainian lives and freedom matter above all🇺🇦
(Yes, I understand Ukraine won't get back Crimea or Donbas, at this stage, but secure Ukraine first and then build for a better day after getting the population thriving again💙💛)

Ukraine was “secured” by some big nations in 2014. How did that negotiation turn out?

I did check first your other comments. It makes me even more baffled. By your part... my question tho..
As Valeraya Novodvorskaya stated in 2014. Putin first maingoal landlocking Ukraini connecting Moldova and work from there on more into Eastern Europe and up North connecting Belarus taking Kyiv in the process. As like others she gaved clear signs what Putin was amining for. Hence even in 2007 and 2008 himself giving already clear hints.
At start he wanted to take a short cut en topple the governement by taking Kyiv.
Till today I m surprised people discussing what his aims are. It hasn't changed and it will not change. So yes a pause or peace deal at this point will just encourage him to come again later.
He wanna leave his legacy. Not just only expand but Kyiv, first Kyiv the birthplace and wipe its history and culture and reclaim it as only being Rus, Moscovit.
Battle taken ground is hard to reclaim by legal matters unless the agressor faces total defeat.
Their hyped alternate WWII history is not helping in that regards.
He wanna take what he can get before he dies regardless what the means are as they will once again alternate their information, history.
      🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦✌🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦

@@timmommens901Thank you, Tim, for engaging like this. Many people seem to love to invent Putin's aims for him, so please hit me with as many facts as possible - especially his own writing, comments, speeches. He has always moved very cautiously and carefully eg refusing Transdniester's requests to become part of Russia, which would have given him a bigger foothold in Moldova.
Are you a Belgian in South Korea? (from the flags) We must always welcome facts, especially those that disprove our own narrative. (You'll notice that Jonathan, Vlad Vexler and others will never engage with inconvenient facts or even invite&outdebate those with differing opinions. It's faux-intellectualism: Vlad is able to look smart, even tho his mind is too limited for the complexities in this conflict. These folks don't understand the severe situation in the war for the Ukrainian army, while hundreds of thousands of lives hang in the balance.
If we don't propagandize for any side, we have a better chance for a secure future for Ukraine🇺🇦 I'll read up on what you wrote already meanwhile. Please do critique my other comments too!🙏

@@SupportGoodHumans The Ukrainian government was the major violator of the peace-securing Minsk Agreements. ("Our side"🇺🇦🇺🇲will never acknowledge this, or that they failed to implement autonomy for Donetsk and Luhansk within a federal Ukraine, as per the agreements.) The separatists and the Russians committed violations too. Everyone needs to come clean, for lasting progress, but you'll notice that "our talkers" never discuss Minsk and how the Ukrainians and US misled Putin, as Angela Merkel referred to.

    • @SupportGoodHumans
      @SupportGoodHumans 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@zetristan4525 other readers of the Minsk accords would point out that it was Putin who “misled” the negotiations with his unidentifiable “green men”. When separatists held their so-called elections under intimidation, like the upcoming March reelection of Putin, it gives lie to their aspirations of unique status. The “major” violators appear to be those who are not citizens of the country they are invading.
