Keep up the great work Bill. These videos are real and a fresh approach to fishing videos. First, you love fishing, and that's apparent. Second, you take the time to edit and inspire people to fish that may be hesitant to do so. Thanks again for making our family smile and laugh and go ohhhh and ahhhhhhhhhhh...lol. We send a link to your videos to all we think will care. Mike your cool to. :) Doug
Got to say guy's...this is one of my favorite videos you made so far. I go on lake Erie with a 14 foot aluminum boat to catch these pig perch and have the same fun. I love the enthusiasm Bill has. I am the same way. My friends say I talk to much, but fishing brings out the John Madden in me!
Awesome bro! Mitch will remember that trip when he's your age. I'm 33 and some of my happiest memories are of my uncle putting me on schools of crappie where you catch 'em like that. Now I take my sister's boy fishing. Taking kids fishing is priceless!
Wish i was there also.Good videos and great fishing my friends.I'm sort of shut in as a disabeld veteran and watching these vids is almost like i'm there.Florida here yall way down in white springs ,fl.Take care and good fishing everybody.
Yellow perch are wonderfully tasty fish. I caught an 18 incher once as a kid, never seen one that size again. Will definitely have to try this setup next time I try for them, looks like it works great.
Great vid guys, We have yellow perch here in Oregon but I have'nt ever seen any that size around here. What a blast! I'll have to get over there and try that!....Rocky
Bill hand's down ...your video's are the best! wish we could be fishin now dude!- nothing like coming home after a rough day n watchin ROADSNAKE vid;s.! you' guy's are like TOP SHELF! WHERE MAMA HIDE'S THE COOKIE'S! haha - hope all's well bro! man I miss perchin!- Greg
Grew up five minutes away from Lake Erie. First Walleye was 10 lbs, Steelhead was 32 inches long. Now live in the South and i haven't found any productive spots yet for fishing. Miss the Perch fishing.
I fish the south end of Lake Michigan. I do well to fill the skillet with perch. You men are the (friendly) envy of all anglers here, off Michigan City IN.
Heading out today to hammer the perch.Love catching jumbo's awsome.I'm on the north side of Erie ya I'm a canuk eh lol. It's june 17 they moved in 4 day's ago.I will be on the lake till there gone lol.Last year we caught a 16 and a 14 incher double header wowzer's.Though we caught a sheep head till we got them to the boat.Cheer's bud fish on
Wow ..That makes up for the no ice this year eh? Sow bellies for sure dude. Over here in Lake St Clair they are big too. Thanks for the hard work in making this video dude.
yeah it's weird , we thought it was messed up but we still caught fish( n they were fine) its been nice here but cool n windy.. as usual hopefully perchin this weekend! have fun dude, talk to ya soon
I have one major issue with this video.......that I'm not out there catching some of these huge monster slob jumbo perch. Great haul guys. That was excellent.
Thanks for the quick response. A few questions .....50'+ water, how much anchor line do you have to let out? What type of bottom are you fishing? Thanxs, Tom
Thank's yeah USUALLY when I get out with my buddy Steve on his boat we do ok-can't wait to do it again man I love perchin!plus-besides the pond on a good day- it's about the only decent fishing I get to do around here if I'm lucky enough! like I told ya it's nothing like W.N.Y. lol or the spot!- Greg
I was just there a few weeks ago; caught a 14.5" perch. . . but we'll call it 14.25", since 14.5" would be the Ohio record and I didn't feel like jumping through the hoops. :D I was shocked at how big they were, though! Amazing.
lol watching this AGAIN! Man I can't wait to go perchin! we didn't make it this weekend- weather sucked yesterday n my buddy Steve had some family obligation's to tend to. I heard you guy's got poured on! my friend said Sheridan n Niagara was flooded n blocked off. we got a decent tstorm fri. and rain last night but beautiful today. wish I had a boat man I'd be out there. did you see the Buffalo news -lake Erie stuff last week? weds. was cool about the dead zone- we saw that shit here in 2011
The one thing with perch when they are hitting it can be non stop then they just shut off. There were some real slabs there but I think some of the ones you pulled in were like 7 to 8 inches. I live in southeastern Mi & we never get in that deep of water. But the bigger perch & walleye are in deeper water. We also have the Detroit river were in spring they are huge. A friend has gotten 16 inch perch that was like 2 1/2 lbs & was much bigger looking than any you had. I will say great job on it.
Giant Great Lakes perch for sure. Personally though, I'd be throwing back most of that days' catch. Massive females bloated with eggs and ready to spawn at any minute. I'd do the same with the huge walleye we catch in Western Lake Erie, too. Just my opinion. It's legal, so if your preference is to keep the big hens, enjoy! Nice mess of fish either way.
thanks for the info, guess ill have to try everything i got lol, usually the perch cant get enough of my worms, does sunlight or cloud cover affect the perch bite do you think?
Where you at Sturgeon Point in Derby, NY, Have never thought they would be this far east on the lake that early. I was thinking west to ohio and the islands
haha lmao! hey bro if I have to work sat. we might not go to NY this weekend, might just wait till the plant shut's down for memorial day.. lemme know what's up maybe we can fish then!? 1 more day eh? I'll be celebrating my b day n you'll be in Florida! have a great time man! can't wait to see the vid's. still love this one! wish we could go there instead of work! - Grreg
lmao dude I watch your video's(my ROADSNAKE playlist) and you make me want to pause it every 5- 10 minute's go out in the garage n have a smoke! haha miss ya bro!- Greg
are perch line shy? i went to a local lake and just couldnt get a perch, i was using a rig with 10# fluoro with a heavier sinker for long casting then i downsized to 6# fluoro and still was slow for the perch, both rigs were dropper loops rigs with 2 size 6 baitholders and nightcrawlers (minnows are illegal as bait here) any tips or advice please?
I'm jealous!! Those are monsters!! I think i caught maybe a only a dozen or so over 13 all of last year and you guys killed that in a day! hahaha Fish on!
can you catch and release them from that deep or are they " dead " by the time they get up there? if they live i thought it would bd cool to catch some and put them in my pond about 30 miles away from erie.
thanks man , I'm Bill , worked for Falcon 9 years , now i pull thruway doubles for more than double the pay and less hours lol . i still see a falcon truck now and then but not to often - you still drive for a livin ?
Those are some big perch, good job! Ive been to sturgeon point once, didn't get too much luck. Usually go to the crib or in bratenawh, I don't know how to spell it haha
how far out are you? i have a small alluminum boat with a 15 horse and im scared to take it out on the lake. round house is about as far as ive had it. how big is your boat and what size motor? i know the lake can pick up in a hurry, does it ever get a little risky?.....great video btw. i would love to get out for perch and walleye i just dont know if i have the equipment to handle the lake
hey man I tried using beer batter for my perch(usually just do seasoned flour) and they were awesome(usually only use it for haddock and walleye) anyways they were awesome! loving your channel n wishin we were fishin as usual- my buddy's back is all jacked up so we haven't been perchin lately- sucks! going to the pond tomorrow wish ya could join me! hopefully get some pan sized gill's bro!
I dont think you even had your limit there but you sure didnt have any room for more. lol So its April have you been out yet this year. I have to get over there sometime. Im on the west side. What port would you recomend? Thanks
When I went, I was using 20lb braided line but I set the hook too hard on a sheephead and broke it. I had a reel spooled with 8lb mono and it worked just fine (even for the sheephead). Best thing to use: 20lb braided line with 24" of 20lb leader to take the stress of the hook set.
That stink's! I went last year july 5'th I think and nailed em there!-bass crappie n gill's. let me know if you want to and can go any sooner because I think we're leaving kinda" early sun. we had a good t-storm today did you? if so hopefully it churned up n cooled off the water a little? hopefully talk to ya soon- Greg
Them jumbos are fun to catch but not the best eating. For table fare, the smaller the better. Nice pulling in that smallie... in the 30 years ive been fishing lake erie, ive only seen a half dozen or so smallmouths taken on a perch rig.
What can I do to target larger perch? I know some areas where I can catch white perch all day long, but I'll be damned if I can catch any large ones. I usually use them for cut bait for catfishing, but if I could catch some big ones I'd eat em up.
it's been years. I only remember you as road snake. lol. the va made me 100% disabled. I havn t worked in 6 years. I used to catch those monster catfish
prerch forsure #1 then walleye next on the list followed up by smelt .... its fun to fish for crappie and gills but i usually give em away or toss em back
Next weekend bro- hopefully we'll slay em this time. I should have a freezer full by now but don't:( wish ya could join us! lol I'm jonesin to get out on the boat again! have fun in WNY fisherman's paradise! - Greg
Good to see ya" Bill! I can't wait - hopefully this weekend get out for some perch!..nice double headers there! did you make the perch rig's? it was great to wake up to this bro! keep it up! hope all's well bro! hope you feel great!- Greg

I definitely miss fishing perch in Upstate NY!! We used to go out on the jetties on Lake Champlain, and just hammer'em! Great catch guys!!
Yellow perch are wonderfully tasty fish. I caught an 18 incher once as a kid, never seen one that size again.
Will definitely have to try this setup next time I try for them, looks like it works great.
This video has me cracking up, great fishing man. Doesn't get any better than that.

Your videos are nice, what software do you use to edit your videos. I would like to start filming some of my days on the big lake.
You should make a vid of your double drop shot perch rig with beads. Do you usually like pink for bead color in 40+ ft of water?
The one thing with perch when they are hitting it can be non stop then they just shut off. There were some real slabs there but I think some of the ones you pulled in were like 7 to 8 inches. Giant Great Lakes perch for sure. Personally though, I'd be throwing back most of that days' catch. Massive females bloated with eggs and ready to spawn at any minute. Them jumbos are fun to catch but not the best eating. For table fare, the smaller the better. Nice pulling in that smallie... in the 30 years ive been fishing lake erie, ive only seen a half dozen or so smallmouths taken on a perch rig.
do you think bluegill and crappie taste as good as perch?
Guy's how many times did you hear the monster word ?)))) Some of those under 10 inches but still monster.
no 12 to 15 are monsters and we got plenty that day
I fish Lake Erie 5 times a yr, I live in Wisconsin and camp on Kelly Island. Is that where you went out of? Looks real familiar.
Great video as always! Now you have some of the best eating freshwater fish in my opinion, when is the fish-fry??
Thank you, will watch more and more.
