yes they work well, they make open water transducers you mount on the boat, check out Vexilar, Marcum, and Humminbird, they all make flashers like what you see in the vid
ive watched this video like 10 times now and love it! ... I ice fish on a property thats a family friends pond with my dad every year and we average about 15 to 18 inches and have to cut 2 holes side by side to get them slabs out ... this will be the first year i will be going without my dad because he passed away... but this video brings tears to my eyes ... it reminds me of my dad and me. but idk if i can go this year with out him and im broke and have no gear because of the cost of funeral
@URLYINGBRO no and yes but more leaning towards no. you gotta get to the fish so with the fish finder, you can locate and fish'em. people do the same with open water fishing. have fun out there
@Winkiedoodles Thanks for the kind words!!! We fish for crappies during every season of the year. We have the hardest working cameraman in the industry - Nowhere else will you see as many real hooksets captured!!!! And he certainly did get in on the action throughout the day!
Even though we don't have ice fishing here in North Carolina, these techniques are useful for me as well. Our water gets icy cold in winter. Nice to see you guys release so many whoppers. I release all large fish regardless of species, keeping a few smaller ones for the table.
I agree. Besides I do see them being released all the time. Many anglers like to fish for the sport, excitement and it's so much fun. Your out in nature and challenging the fish. If I go with intentions to eat fish, I'll keep two and release the rest. Why keep so many fish? I'm not selling them, lol. So Two for me, the rest for fun.
@lukrativ0922 Crappies, in their northern range, grow extremely slow compared to the southern states. Careful catch and release (with larger fish) is crucial to maintaining a trophy crappie fishery up here!
Your videos are awesome!!! You guys are great...you make me want to go crappie fishing right now so bad! I enjoyed this video more than any fishing show on tv. How did 2 people actually dislike this video? Angry x's? Keep it up!
I like to know what kind of jigg u guys use please . may u guys make a clip to show how to catch crappie and what kind of jigg r good for winter crappies fishing, please
Seeing slab crappies pulled out the ice like that never gets old. I'd be as if not more excited. Nice video! Can't say I've used those Lake Fork plastics even tho they have them down here at the bass pro in Chicago burbs. I like the horizontal presentation idea. thanks for sharing.
@holdemstacy i agree that they would be good eating if the water wasn't polluted to the max in lake ontario i mean c'mon the fish and everything else in the lake are contaminated
honestly, i dont find this real fishing, its all about the hope that you get one, and when you do your happy, its not fun to know that your fish is going for your bait at the right time it does. thats just my opinion, i give you props for getting slabs but its just not my style of fishing, and everyone has their own.
I live in Texas and obviously we dont ice fish here, never seen a fish finder like that. Will this same type of fish finder work hanging it over the side of the boat into the water?
Super good sportsmanship! Truly nice seeing you guys release some of the finer crappie I have ever witnessed being caught. Only keeping what your gonna eat in the coming few days or weeks.
I highly recommend you to not get any expencive boat with out at least a depth finder.... or hell just get a fish finder, Most fishfinders only see about 3 feet around by the sensor anyway. Fish finders only are extremely useful to find where weeds are, and the way the bottom is shaped. You can find one huge gigantic fish with a fish finder, but never catch it.
I love those fishfinders . I used to have an old humming bird and man it was really accurate .. Nice Job . I got a nice 3 lb crappie mounted that i got on Diamond Lake in Minnesota Ice Fishing......
Best crappie ice fishing video right here. Slab after slab. Keep them videos coming!
i think so. kind of takes the fun out of it.
nice slabs guys!!!
yes they work well, they make open water transducers you mount on the boat, check out Vexilar, Marcum, and Humminbird, they all make flashers like what you see in the vid

Damn Aaron got good ass stamina! Straight diggin holes and runs to fish and still not outta breath!
Thats it, im moving to Canada
WOW massive!!
It doesnt matter what style of fishing people do, its always ends with a smile... :)
@URLYINGBRO
no and yes but more leaning towards no. you gotta get to the fish so with the fish finder, you can locate and fish'em. people do the same with open water fishing. have fun out there
good size
you must do another one of these crappie videos.
I love using ice fishing poles in the summer to catch panfish and small bass.
Nice video, I've never seen anyone catch crappies from Ice holes like this. Looks like a lot of fun. Tom
Impressive video gents!
awesome nice video
Awesome awesome....wow....
Crappie is one of the most delicious fish I have ever eaten. I almost couldn't watch this video after I saw you throw the first one back. lol
@Winkiedoodles Thanks for the kind words!!! We fish for crappies during every season of the year. We have the hardest working cameraman in the industry - Nowhere else will you see as many real hooksets captured!!!! And he certainly did get in on the action throughout the day!
I guess I can understand, but you have to agree, nothing compares with a huge crappie fillet!
wow guys those are some awesome crappies the biggest I have ever caught was 12.5 to 13 inches
great video. man only if i can catch consistent slabs. I did catch a few that were 15"(no lie, st croix river) and only a bunch of 9"-12".
i usually just use minnows from a bait shop with just a hook, a bobber, and splitshots to hold bobber down, that is literally it
Thanks. I'm gonna have to check 'em out.

Your out in nature and challenging the fish. they look so much like white perch.
I like there is no other person on the lake! Must be nice to fish a private lake.
Just like the lake I fished. Can't wait to go and do some ice fishing. I'm excited. Good video.
@lukrativ0922 Crappies, in their northern range, grow extremely slow compared to the southern states. Careful catch and release (with larger fish) is crucial to maintaining a trophy crappie fishery up here!
he says what he uses in this video
Awesome stuff guys!!
Your videos are awesome!!! You guys are great...you make me want to go crappie fishing right now so bad! I enjoyed this video more than any fishing show on tv. How did 2 people actually dislike this video? Angry x's? Keep it up!

@schneducation We live in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The bulk of our fishing and filming is done in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario right now.
they tell you "this lake" and tell you what kinds of fish they got but never tell you where is this lake LOL
I like to know what kind of jigg u guys use please . may u guys make a clip to show how to catch crappie and what kind of jigg r good for winter crappies fishing, please
these guys must have been realyy taugh without no gloves out in the cold
Man, i love ice fishing!
Another great video. Awesome to see you guys catch and release.
@newcarlisle1 There is a talk about the baits we are using near the end of the video :)
These sac-a-lait are abseloutly huge!
Use a ditch witch to remove a long strip, then you could troll.
Look at those slabs. Damn
try earth worms. anything eats it
Man you guys are having fun. I have never ice fish before and would love to. Great videos!!
Would you rather catch just a few fish, or a TON of fish? I choose a ton! Makes for a fun fun day.
Drill a hole next to the other hole and drop a water proof camera though the ice.
Dear goodness right away! Back to back no less
wow...those are huge crappies!
DAMNNNNNN
Seeing slab crappies pulled out the ice like that never gets old. I'd be as if not more excited. Nice video! Can't say I've used those Lake Fork plastics even tho they have them down here at the bass pro in Chicago burbs. I like the horizontal presentation idea. thanks for sharing.
this is the coolest looking video, i will do this some day
Hey Aaron. Now I see how you did it!!!
@holdemstacy i agree that they would be good eating if the water wasn't polluted to the max in lake ontario i mean c'mon the fish and everything else in the lake are contaminated
It seems they were at a private lake, crappies that big put back. Never seen any crappy fisherman fish crappy to let them go.
You do know they are very good to eat.
honestly, i dont find this real fishing, its all about the hope that you get one, and when you do your happy, its not fun to know that your fish is going for your bait at the right time it does. thats just my opinion, i give you props for getting slabs but its just not my style of fishing, and everyone has their own.
These are monsters! Great fishing. The LX-7 is going to be fun to try out this winter, I use a Bird ice-55. Maybe by January we will get local ice.
Only keeping what your gonna eat in the coming few days or weeks.
that depth finder is just wild
what is that marcum thing you have there called? im new to ice fishing, this will be my first year trying it, and i would love to buy one of em
seems odd that there is nobody else in sight - every lake if fish has someone else on it...winter or summer.
im guessing its because they only have 1 fish finder
I use shiners and catch huge bass an black crappie in the river during summer where i live
I don't think I could last 20 mins listening to these two jabba jaws
I watched it with the sound turned off..lol
I highly recommend you to not get any expencive boat with out at least a depth finder.... or hell just get a fish finder, Most fishfinders only see about 3 feet around by the sensor anyway. where did they get that sensor
in the begining why didint they drill two holes by echother
Question, I'm going to start ice fishing in maine/new hamshire. whats the best depth for crappie or bass and pickerel.
where are you fishing
I love those fishfinders . I used to have an old humming bird and man it was really accurate .. Nice Job . I got a nice 3 lb crappie mounted that i got on Diamond Lake in Minnesota Ice Fishing......
Not a state he's in Canada
just wondering..which baits work best for hard water slammin crappies:)
....ok...I just picked my jaw up off the floor!! Another great episode!!! Aaron and The Uncut Angling crew always at there best!!!
O WOW IM JELOUS what state are you guys in .....Minnesota
What a great day of crappie fishing guys!! Thanks for the video. Would have had a VERY hard time not keeping some for supper though. Nice vid.
No way those all go back in the water, no way at all.
