Hey, I once did Edmonton to Dorchester New Brunswick in 48 hours. 4,697 km
You need two drivers and one needs to spend 7 hours, Sault St Marie to Ottawa, during the night, doing 90+ mp/h.
He also needs to do about 38 hours of the driving.
Google says 48 hours but doesn't account for every minute stopped getting gas makes it hard to keep a 100 km/h average.

After 65 years of loving the DS-19, I am still perplexed how Citroen ever got this project of the ground. Nothing to do with like and/or dislike, the complexity of how this vehicle was mass produced.( Not a single car has the same amount of spot-welds). My friend Pat is restoring one and yesterday I studied the forged suspension arms ( same on the SM) Not once have I seen a "bend" one. They move on needle bearings. As Scott pointed out, the rubber they used had to be one of the best qualities on earth . I wish you smooth sailing en route to YUL.
Greetings from a warm YVR, The paint job on the car is almost sinful , the leather is delicious,
what a beautiful job you boys did, Chapeau!

Some version of Dean is sitting on the shoulder of every car lover reminding us of our roots. He may not have the technical and financial resources some of us have built up over the years, but he is completely honest about who he is> he is 110% dedicated to his cars (lives a hard life for them)> and there's no question they'd be fucked without him! Popular/valuable or not, they're a lot nicer to look at in one piece than smashed into a cube and he's saved a ton of them, bless his big goofy heart.

Many of the posts mention the Citroën and the spring spacers on the Chev. What I've never seen on anyone's DS videos is the simple though ingenious mechanism that adjusts the oil feed to keep the car level no matter the load. It is easy enough to see from inside the trunk after removing a metal panel. Small torsion rods are anchored to the centers of front and rear anti-roll bars. The end of each rod has a small lever arm inside a cover in the wheel well. The lever arm works a spool valve with oil feed and release tubes in the body. When a load is added, the roll bar turns, moves the lever arm, the valve puts more oil in the suspension, (technical term = oleo struts). As the axles drop, car rises, the roll bars turn/torsion rods/levers shut the oil flow off. As the car moves down the road some oil pressure is lost, so one can hear the main pump cycle on and off to intermittently re-adjust/maintain the pressure in the central accumulator. This circuit also connects to the brakes, so that braking pressure adjusts to axle loading. Also runs the power steering. A separate pump runs the gear shifting and (i think) the de-clutching, which is modulated by a sensor/valve in the throttle linkage. Riding in the car one may hear funny noises like slurp, hiss, gurgle, jingle, jingle.

First off, I can't begin to say how amazing it is that you can do the level of bodywork you do! I have never seen this type of work, and I appreciate you "inviting" me in to see what is involved. Your methods really ARE amazing. Second, I love the variety (segments) you include on your videos...those are fun! And Frankers is a good host ;) Finally, something about your mannerisms and speech remind me SO much of my older brother who raised me (and who passed in 2001)...there HAVE been times when you've said something that actually made me gasp and rewind a bit to see if I'd heard what I thought. So...thank you for the fun, and for reminding me of good things, Scott. Tell the agents thank you for the fun, and give Frankers a treat from me!

Being the owner of a 48 flathead Ford V8 coupe ( New Zealand assembled out of Commonwealth plant in Canada) I stumbled across your episode with the 41 Merc cpe (something we did not get here because of the war). Since then I've just about watched all your other ones. Love the Fury build, you are a true craftsman. We got Canadian Chrysler products here too, as a kid, a bloke up the road owned a 61 Desoto Diplomat a yellow and cream one which left a big impression on me. There was also a light green Dodge version around ( not sure what the Canadian model name was but I remember older "kingsway"s). Keep them coming as I look forward to your updates. That Dean is a laugh and a half too. Best wishes from New Zealand.

25-30 years ago my parents had a 1989 Oldsmobile 98 with mostly identical mechanicals to Dean's Buick. It had beautiful upholstry, a comfortable ride, and the requisite, sad made-by-Mattel dashboard. (GM always has to shoot themselves in the foot right in front of the person making the payments with their krappy dashboards.) They were kind enough to lend it to me for a little trip down from Lansing to Indiana and Ohio. I filled it up when I left and when I got back: 29.5 MPG USA gallons. They put only 135,000 or so miles on it. Unfortunately, they sold it to one of their not-very-careful grandsons who soon ran it into the ground.

Scott you should spend the time sometime cleaning all your collector cars tires with westleys bleach white and then soak them in tire shine to slow down the rotting process! Also would be a good idea to slather a little used oil around the glass and under the trim! I am amazed your cars hold up so well in Canada. Those cars have been gone in Virginia since the 70's, they just totally rot down here from humidity I guess!

Those spacers in the springs of Tom's chevy are what we used to do to lift the front ends of our cars back in the late 60's. We used to like the look of a raised front. You just put them in the spring and give them a twist with a breaker bar and they pop right in. Haven't seen those in years! I was still driving my parents 64 Ford Fairlane 500 and I could pop those in when I went out and take them back out when I got back home so dad wouldn't shit green monkeys.

Did anyone else get a palpable "French vibe" when you first look at a pudel with a nice hairdo, than you dive in to a DS engine compartment, and finally we get a look inside said DS with the narrator pointing out details with a lit cigarette...oh lal a!
And another thing, if people at future car shows ask -Where was this wonderful DS built? And you show them a photo of Dean sitting in his "new" forklift in front of the shop and the yard surrounding it, they'll look at you funny and call you a liar...LOL! I love it!

At 14:46 I had an involuntary shiver due to the way you said "Atttlas Weatherguard"... Reminded me of those "unguarded" years before "All Season" Radial tires were invented, and SERIOUS thought had to be done regarding what rear rubber one was going to risk the Winter Weather with. From watching your vids, it seems that "All Season" radials still don't "cut the mustard" up there, but down here in the Middle Atlantic States, we're covered probably about 95+% of the time with "All Seasons"..27:17 that goopy mess not good. Don't know how water would get in there unless trans cooler sprung a leak.. And those springamathings are spacers that you can install by inserting ratchet-extension and turning.

Hi Scott. The hood fairy! Excellent. I'm looking forward to Dean's Tbirds. Road trip, much needed vacation. Tom's Chevy needs a radiator and heater core. Floorboards might be a challenge for him. I hope you have time for it. You should make a list of all your cars,(in the yard). I hope you get the retro gas station closed in too. The Cold War is heating up!

man...the DS is something else. those rocket turn signals, really the whole car, make me think that the DS is what a person of the 1930's would imagine a space ship of the 1960's would look like. the dash is a jewel...multiple jewels...I don't even know how half of it would work!

Screw in spring spacers. Remember them well, maybe mostly a 60's GM thing. J.C. Whitney, sold in sets of 4. Citroens were seldom seen where I grew up, so no memory recall fondness for me. I can appreciate, though, all the insane hours you put in, maybe just enough to know not to own one. Excellent job by the whole Coldwarmotors team. Have to say, it's got some pretty cool design features, and the car really looks sharp. Great color that sets that beautiful interior off nicely. (When I was a kid they sort of reminded me of those bugs you'd see when you flipped over a big rock),

Those spacers in Toms car were to jack up the spring/rear end a bit. Like shackles, old school. Tom and Dean are a hoot.

Mmmmmm, strawberry milkshake, I hate radiators with the transmission cooler across the bottom. One of my biggest fears is my transmission turning into a milkshake maker. I can't believe the DS is going to be leaving so soon.
