Certainly one of many reasons that I like this channel. Look forward to seeing the Dodge Limo actually drive with people in it..a trip out to the mountains would be perfect.

1951 Dodge Limousine custom built for the Jasper Park Lodge. They required the panoramic roof windows to accentuate the incredible mountain views.

So, I quickly showed my mom the limo. She's pretty sure she has some photos with the car and her family when they went through Banff and Jasper as a kid. That car is pretty hard to mistake as anything else. If she finds photos I'll post them up on the Patreon community site. You've been hitting out of the park lately with the coolest old iron and vehicles. Well, this was a good break. Time to get back to replacing old and rusty brake lines.

I just cannot believe how well Scott's door of Bondo has lasted on his truck.
The Bondo door skin video was undoubtedly the video that got me addicted to this channel. A gifted mad scientist at work.
@@Rico_G The door skin was an unexpected gift I found after I subscribed because I was so impressed by Scott's ability to handcraft repair panels for his Fury. It quickly became one of my favorite videos of all time. I just love it when Scott is going crazy on the door and it cuts back to the other agents smoking and watching him. The fact the door came out amazing is the best part, and he legit put it on his daily driver.
The "roman arches" lol, yeah that video is a classic.
If you will notice, there is no footage of Scott actually closing the door. I'm betting he does it very carefully!

Oh! I'm excited to see the Dodge Limo get some love. Pity about the cracked block, but maybe it was a great epoxy repair that only needs some tidying up a bit. I've been driving a '48 Willys pickup for 34 years with a small crack repair in the water jacket. Just the ticket for Coldwarmotors facility tours. Can't wait to see Dean in a Limo drivers uniform.
..Just drill some overlapping holes along the crack, tap them with threads, install some screws, and chisel the heads off like those guys in Pakistan did with those cracked cylinder heads on the dirt floor.. :)
That Dodge rolled off the trailer like it was a Real smooth riding car...too bad about the block crack - Excellent spark plug retraction

I've owned a few of those 60's vintage Mercedes...They all shift really hard...Nature of the beast...Even my 1993 190e was a hard shifter....Been a Coldwar Motors watcher for years...
I had 7 of them in years past. The gearshift felt like a flimsy toy compared to American cars, and was vague and rubbery but easy to use. If I recall correctly every joint had a rubber grommet and brass sleeve in it. If the rubber rotted off the gearshift became useless.

@@MattBracewell71 As a long time viewer of British TV series, I can clarify that Canadian "chips" are what are known in the UK as "crisps", whereas UK "chips" are called "french fries" in USA & Canada. However, the concept of "fish'n'chips" is generally understood as a popular British "pub-style" seafood main course.
I've seen them go for chips in a couple of Dean Machines, for sure.

One year at Hershey I saw a '50 Dodge Driver's Education car with a full set of right hand controls, not just an extra brake pedal like modern drivers ed cars have. That was before I became a '50 Dodge owner myself.
Phenomenal find gents. A true star of the fleet. It would make the ultimate chip getting car. A staff car. Lots of Luck with it! Go Canada!

It's about the 50th or so video I've watched so far, and I must say I almost feel like living in your neck of the woods, drinking a beer, wandering around with adorable, truly interested, attentive and above all happy friends, looking in wonder at cars, giving Frankers all that well-deserved air-time, enjoying life to the full, and restoring old classics to near perfection (although you keep saying it's not nearly as perfect as it could or should be)! It just seems like a nice, quiet place to live, and your channel gives a lot of vicarious (car) pleasure. Greetings from Belgium!

The Dodge limo takes me back to the 60,s ...for sure. Back in Ontario, We had one of these as a band equipment hauler . We ended up going to a 65 van new , but these were great . The other band that utilized the old Dodge semi automatic was a Band called The Grass Company ... my cousin was the lead singer and with a guitar player by the name of Kim Mitchell ... looking forward to Scott taking me for a fun restoration ride . They were also used as Taxis in NYC.
Totally Love the Fiat Brava! I had two in my life, and 1978 1/2 Super Brava and a 1980 FI Brava, both were factory mustard yellow in color and both were great cars. Your '81 model year was the last Brava imported to North America/Canada and very rare, especially a 2Dr. SWEET CAR!
I've praised you for the variety you provide. It is so obvious rewatching older videos, there is always a part I had forgotten about, always a good way to kill an hour. Cheers!!

Another great adventure but this one is Priceless!
Fun story.. I had to pull the drums on a 48 Plymouth because the brake pedal was simply a placebo, same setup with tapered axel and a key. I payed $80 US for a puller that looked identical to yours. It was the biggest piece of shit I've ever had my hands on. First drum, I stripped the threads out of it. 2 hours on a lathe later I got it funtional and then broke one of the legs. After roughly 8 hours working on the puller and 3 days of cussing I managed to pull both rear drums.

I love it! This beast reminds me of my Grandpa's '49 Imperial 8 limousine- he was a farmer and father of 9 children. It was the only thing that would haul everyone to church in one go! :)

Tom has gone up in my estimation, I wondered what happened to the black Heckflosse 😎😊. It's a bit tappety still though >When the tappets are set the car has to dead cold and you need to have to pull the feeler gauge firmly to get the correct setting .If you are able to get those carbs tuned you are doing well. I work on them for a living, specialising in pre 1980 Mercedes. So because i am a geek I had to search the Dodge, and here it is! They had a fleet of Six. Here's her sister in full glory!.

I had a 1977 131 Mirafiori for a while in the early 1980s here in Australia. It had a 1600 pushrod engine and it really needed that 2 litre twin cam. Nice gearbox. The only thing that didn’t go wrong with it was it didn’t rust, a miracle for that era. Had to get rid of it before it drove me insane and made my mechanic a millionaire. Good to see a nice one.
I believe that will all buff out. Lots of road trips in the future!

Good to see some Chevrolet fins on this channel. I had two '60 Impala coupes back in the '70s and '80s. One had the 348 V-8 and the infamous Turboglide transmission. Sure wish I had them today. Love your videos!

Wow, there's a white limousine in lemony snicket that I've been wondering what car it was based on, I think you've answered my question. That's a cool find. This episode needed to be a special 2 hour feature length , I need more. Will it run? And boogie Van paint, omg the suspense is going to kill me.
The Dodge limo is quite a score. They made more than 20,000 of those bodies from 1949 to 1954 and used them on long wheelbase Dodge, DeSoto, Chrysler and Imperial chassis. In other words, you have the same body as an Imperial limousine, with a Dodge front end and motor. The bigger 265 Chrysler six will bolt in. You can even bore the Dodge block and use Chrysler pistons, rods and crankshaft. The rear axle is 6" wider than the stock sedan because the body is wider, and they had a heavy duty chassis and rear axle with 5" bolt pattern wheels same as Chrysler station wagon and Imperial. They made a DeSoto Skyview taxi with a sun roof but never saw the glass roof panels before. Must be unique to the sight seeing model.
If you want to know what one is capable of, see this story on the big brother DeSoto 8 pass Suburban. My favorite quote "at 70 MPH at high altitudes it smooths out like a perfectly balanced turbine" this with a long stroke, 265 cu in flathead six and 4:11 gears.

If you have to move a car with the wheels frozen try this. Some planks or plywood covered with plastic, and slide the tires on shampoo. Don't use your wife's $45 stuff you will get in trouble. Get some from the dollar store for a $1 buck.
They still make those hub pullers. Every old jeep from the 40s to the 70s use that style axle
Never seen an old 51 Dodge like that, it was probably a rare car when it was made and it's probably the only one left, it's a limousine. It does have class.

Love that old dodge I am 73 years old ,I drove a 52 dodge as my first car ,we were 3 amish boys we bought the car for100 dollars we had a lot of fun with that car till my dad found the car those were the days!!! Thanks for memorys.

I'm in Detroit and in 1976 I bought a new Fiat 131,5 speed DOHC, when it wanted to run it was a blast to drive. The electrical system was the main problem area.

My Dad had a 1950 Plymouth Airport Car. Similar to your Dodge, but had one more set of doors in the back and luggage rack the length of the roof with a ladder up the trunk. Us kids loved running up and down the back.👍♥️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
