Great video guy's, after watching this I'm just starting to understand how technical and important all the different components on the bikes really are. Awesome 6th month review. Its amazing listening to how much you've learnt in such a short amount ot time. Fully entertaining. Can't wait to see your next adventure out in the wilds!!!
Cable Pull. and update here.. the 3 finger gap didn't fix the issue on its own on the Marin. I put a metal endcap at the shifter end, and cable tied the 3 finger loop under the BB onto the bashguard hole. Hasn't played up since. If you want a photo let me know. In my opinion it's poor design. Take a look at the Norcos and others even the new Marin Riftzone they've fixed this as they run the cables above the BB Shell. Also, the SLX cranks are an excellent upgrade! Nice video fellas!
Thank you for the update Marc, and especially thanks for the kind words!! A large portion of our tips comes straight from you so massive thanks for your wisdom!! 🙏
We never did go tubeless, we weren’t really afraid of weight and as you said, for a budget allow frame it was fairly well weighted even with the massive tires. Kept the tubes for rolling speed, don’t know how strong the tires sidewalls are so I can’t really recommend or speak against going tubeless. Hope this helps, tires had plenty of traction for where we were riding at least!!
I just had a look through the spec, great value for the money!! If you’re looking to shred the bike hard I would recommend trading off that better spec for a stronger frame from another company, it’s important to remember that’s it is still 140mm of travel. But if you’re confident that the bike style is right for you, at its current sale price from @bikesonline it’s a bargain! Just remember to keep an eye on other bikes that may interest you, because you never know what discounts are around the corner!
@TwinPeaks_MTB What other options for that price point do you thi k are out there? Currently I am hitting some table tops and 3-6ft drops. Nothing too crazy, and I am doing that on my trek x-caliber 8 lol. I don't think I will be shredding "hard" for a bit
@@akiramiyazono From a quick skim online the trek fuel ex 7 is basically $2000 off at $100 cheaper than the t9, usually the ex 5 is the direct competitor but the ex7 could be a good idea if you’re looking for stronger frames instead of stronger components. Cube has discounted the stereo one55 carbon around $2500 off, pretty cool bike for that club price (online) of $3776. If you want something a bit bigger you can opt for a marine alpine trail or trek slash gen 5 (DO NOT GET GEN 6), I hope this helps I put 20 minutes into this 😂.
@TwinPeaks_MTB Have you ever heard of Superior bikes? Do you know if their carbon xf 979 tr is good? I'm comparing the T8 to that. T8 is $2k and the 979 tr is $2400.
@@SpeedDemonExpress I have never heard if superior bikes 😅 I’m pretty well educated with bikes and I’ve never heard of them - I’ll have a little look and get back to you
Ok so they’re reputable, sold on bikes online based in Czech Republic, big in xc which I most likely why I don’t know them. So the two bikes are completely different. The T8 is much more trail based and downhill/jump/rock ready, whereas the superior seems to be way more xc focused (geometry). The fact that they’re selling carbon for so cheap is really surprising, but polygon recently did the same. The two bikes are similar in terms of spec, but once again the t8 seems to be more downhill based with a lot more money put towards suspension, fatter tires rather than drivetrain, light frame and comforts like the superior. Also in terms of the superior the monarch shock is basically out of production, I’m not sure how easy it will be to find repairs/spare parts. I would say you have to look at whether you’re purely out for the flat terrain, pedalling and small features or if you’re keen on going larger with the downhill. I would consider the superior downcountry, and the t8 a trail bike, so slightly different disciplines. You’ve found two great value bikes, hope this helps!!
Excellent video! Love your candidness and "nitpicking." Very useful info. Thanks for sharing! 👌🏼
Thanks man, means a lot that you like the content!!

We try to show that designing this bike was no easy task, but polygon certainly accomplished it well
Thanks so much for creating this content! Keep shredding!!
Thanks bikesonline, keep selling these great value bikes 😅
love from Indonesia
Sweet vid, keep it up!
Thanks Jonathan! 🙏🙏
Such a mad review, so cool how you filmed it 🤙🤟
It took some effort!! 🤣
😂fun review, Interesting that you guys did it in exactly the same place that Steezy did haha
Exact same place as our specialised fuse review that was done over 8 months ago, a long way to scroll if you haven’t seen it!! 🤣
@@TwinPeaks_MTB 😂 actually yea I remember that video. My bad 🤦

@@TwinPeaks_MTB Anytime fellas!
It’s seems to be lighter than some trek bikes like the fuel ex 5. Did you ever go tubeless to drop a bit of weight?

What are your thoughts on the T9? Do you think the upgrades are worth the money? Or maybe look at a different bike at that price point?

hi, you are using a medium 29er right? What is your height if you dont mind. thanks
It’s a medium 27.5, I’m at 171cm, hope that helps!!
@@TwinPeaks_MTB thank you!
@@TwinPeaks_MTB Im 165 cm , looks like I need a small
I just can't decide on wheel size.
@SpeedDemonExpress Yeah, that's usually the tough one. All depends on your riding style, height, and what you want out of the bike!
