@SpeedDemonExpress Yeah, that's usually the tough one. All depends on your riding style, height, and what you want out of the bike!

@TwinPeaks_MTB Have you ever heard of Superior bikes? Do you know if their carbon xf 979 tr is good? I'm comparing the T8 to that. T8 is $2k and the 979 tr is $2400.

Ok so they’re reputable, sold on bikes online based in Czech Republic, big in xc which I most likely why I don’t know them. So the two bikes are completely different. The T8 is much more trail based and downhill/jump/rock ready, whereas the superior seems to be way more xc focused (geometry). The fact that they’re selling carbon for so cheap is really surprising, but polygon recently did the same. The two bikes are similar in terms of spec, but once again the t8 seems to be more downhill based with a lot more money put towards suspension, fatter tires rather than drivetrain, light frame and comforts like the superior. Also in terms of the superior the monarch shock is basically out of production, I’m not sure how easy it will be to find repairs/spare parts. I would say you have to look at whether you’re purely out for the flat terrain, pedalling and small features or if you’re keen on going larger with the downhill. I would consider the superior downcountry, and the t8 a trail bike, so slightly different disciplines. You’ve found two great value bikes, hope this helps!!

We never did go tubeless, we weren’t really afraid of weight and as you said, for a budget allow frame it was fairly well weighted even with the massive tires. Kept the tubes for rolling speed, don’t know how strong the tires sidewalls are so I can’t really recommend or speak against going tubeless. Hope this helps, tires had plenty of traction for where we were riding at least!!
