I worked for Francis in the 1980s. He really is a good man who cares about people. You feel like family when you are around them. Eleanor Coppola was a very calm, sweet and intelligent human. The last time I saw her was when I was moving on, she was on a walk and stopped my car and thanked me for everything I had done for her family. She was with her newborn first grandchild, Gia. She was a special kind of lady.
This is such a fond memory, thank you for sharing it. Somehow I connected to Francis easily, even though I don't know him personally--his family is from Basilicata, Italy, and so was my late Dad. It was a poor area off the tourist track--those roots are clearly reflected in his films.
This man should be heard and followed...Hoping 'Megalopolis' will reach people and their dead brains and hearts and change at least something within the dying movie industry. A fitting culmination to a glorious career of a prominent filmmaker. 'Megalopolis' stands as an artist's warning and guideline for all of us. Thank you Mr F.F. Coppola from Serbia for the art you gave. 👏👍
Your comment about the movie industry is right on point. And TV--it's in some ways a golden age, a lot of productions are being made, yet few are really well made. I pass by our local movie house weekly and notice that everything shown there is poor quality and forgettable. Yet producers spend millions to make these films.
One of the most brilliant directors in the history of cinema. 'The Conversation' stands as a masterwork and it was great to hear him speak about the film. Great interview, and the directing exercise was a great bonus. Love, love Coppola.
There are too many reviewers trashing that that’s a red flag to me. Some films are meant to transcend in an unconventional sense. I’m going to see it! Don’t care
Beautiful- simple. We’re kept in a state of being unfulfilled … just to keep the game going. And yet, the simplest act of creating and living from a state of joy, love… play … is all it takes to change the world. Be curious… live from the heart … create joy .. and be willing to have the hard conversations- every time. Thank you Francis - for just being you. 💙
Megalopolis was his dream project. He wanted to make this for decades and finally did. Some films aren't received well at the time of release. It's only later that people appreiate their real message.
It's not incredible at all. Intentions have nothing to do with the quality of an artistic project. Is it difficult to understand? It would be very easy to be a great artist if the only thing you needed was good intentions. By the way "can´t we just get along" is what everybody feels, but reality is much more complex.
