I always preferred this older type of art. There is more character, the colors are richer, and the style is quickly recognizable. I feel like they need to consider ditching more of the digital art for this style again.

Completely agree, it was more about synergies and exploiting mechanics, using the cards together as opposed to the few win cons and protection for those win cons. I stopped playing when Planeswalkers came out. Then came back until they had the indestructible god cards and even more planeswalkers. Then came back until the dnd dice roll crap.

Oh god, I'm 12 all over again... invasion will always be my first love. I remember walking into my first LGS on release date of INVASION to get the new goodness. My friend convinced me to join him and see why he loved MTG.
Seriously I could go on and on. Like I'm doing now. I indeed had a kavu deck. Mixed with enchantments like armadillo cloak.

When I was a n00b, Invasion was my favorite set, all the way up until I first retired Magic around Mirrodin. I think it was the wedge color themes. I still have an old school 3 ring binder with clear pages that has almost a complete set of Invasion, that I got from trades almost entirely. I'm still missing 2 cards, but I do have a couple higher end foils in it: Opt, Starlight Sanctum, Sissy, and a couple others.

Up until recently I had a foil Chromatic Orb. Sat in my collection untouched since I opened the pack the week of release. Saw buying price was around $100 NM. Figured, yeah, time for someone else to get it and use it in a deck. Got 60% worth in cash and picked up few other cards I needed instead.

As long as we don't hit Resident Evil territory, market should bounce back over the long term. Which could take 7-8 years for people to get back to break even on their investments as long as they stayed the course and didn't sell during the lows like what happened in 08 during the Financial Crisis. People say you can't time the market, but if you see a train coming, you have to get off the train tracks. A lot of people got caught with their pants down and thought all the market did was just go up, instead they caught a falling knife they just keeps coming down.
