- In this video I am talking about my experience using the Huawei P40 Pro as my main phone without the Google Mobile Services and without any Google Apps.
I was able to install and use normally 95% of the Apps that I regularly use.

Yeah, Google ban makes people realize how they've been spoiled by Google Service. Before ios, Android, where there were symbian, BlackBerry and other OS we can live with it.

I wouldn't say spoiled. If Google ceased to exist, you would find all of the apps on another "play store" very quickly. Same with maps, drive and whatever else they do. All of the things will exist. They just happen to currently exist with Google.
I'm returning to Huawei with the P40 Pro. After several videos here, your video is by far the BEST one of how to live without Google Playstore service, very clear explanations!
We android users always say, Apple users are too stuck on Apple Cloud services. Aren't we the same? We're all stuck inside GMS.
Id be willing to try a new ecosystem. I can deal with minor workarounds. I tried the demo unit for the P40 pro and I immediately fell in love with it.
Besides, if need be, a flashable GMS is already out.
Hey if you get it can you try to use lucky patcher and emulate the google play services. There is an option in the app.

Excellent love your work and information about this as I was thinking to buy one because of the camera but unfortunately there is too many applications I am relying on now days like google pay and paypass from my banks and Android Auto etc that wont work thank you for this review

Yes, you can 100% use it and 95-95% of the apps that you were using before work perfectly. Install TH-cam Vanced app, you will love it!

May I know, how you transfer all the history and data by using phone clone? and how are we going to backup on whatapps as don't have google
WhatsApp always makes a local backup and on Drive. BEFORE you install WhatsApp in the new phone, copy and paste your WhatsApp folder from the old to the new phone, and then install WhatsApp. It will tell you that a backup has been found. Restore and enjoy
WhatsApp always makes 2 backups: 1 locally, 1 on Drive. Backup your WhatsApp, copy the WhatsApp from your internal memory/Sd Card onto your new phone. Then install WhatsApp on your new phone. After the "Initializing", it will notify you that a backup had been found, and ask if you want to restore. Restore and enjoy.
Latest version of Phone Clone transfers your Whatsapp data.

I was really excited to try huawei after years of using Samsung and avoiding apple at all costs, but for my life style I do need uber and my banking apps :(
I'm gonna try iPhone for now, but I really hope Huawei can work with google services sometime in the future and I would definitely switch brand. Great video!!!

Hi, there is another app that you can install after installing youtube vanced called Micro G and that will allow you to sign in to TH-cam vanced :)

Don't bother. With such high price and absence of google services it's incredibly stupid to buy this phone. I can understand if its price was around 350-400$, but 900$ - that's just crazy! For such price you can buy another companies flagship without any problems with GMS installation and restrictions

@Sam K the apkpure store doesn't work on Huawei P40 pro, it download the apks from the apkpure store but it says the phone has no google services therefore the app can't run on this device, i try myself since i really want this phone but unfortunately no GMS is a pain in the butt.
samsung s10e has the design i like the most but 3100mah hurts, 3300 or 3400 definitely will be one of the best phone of the year

You mentioned OneDrive to replace Google photo and Google drive, does OneDrive sync to google ? Or do you have to transfer all your previous files to OneDrive and change services ?

I hate being stuck with GMS, otherwise I'd get the phone right away, P20 Pro and then P30 Pro were in the league of their own. This political war is the only thing that stood in the way of P40 Pro which makes low-light photos on any other phone look like a big step down.

The most important question is: What about push notifications? Many apps rely on google services for push notifications, so does Huawei have a work around for this? Can microg (google services replacement) be installed? Can F-droid & Aurora store (Google store replacement) be installed?
Nah it's a pass for me, without gms i can't use my banking apps.
Ikr I didn't care much but banking app makes me think again.
Maybe next I would get a xiaomi

Hey Alex. Great video, very helpful. One question, since you cannot use Uber, can you use Lyft app? Also I saw Simplii app on your phone, can you use it?
I had Tangerine on the phone and that one works great, the Simplii App, Scotiabank app and TD app all crash when you open them.
Unfortunately I don't have a Lyft account...so I won't be able to try out that app

@@alecubudulecu Inferior hardware. Lower component density on their PCBs. Poor CPU architecture, bad screen controller implementation. The metal frame scratches very easily. Bad designers, their flagships look like plastic dummies. Who thought a uniform light grey color was a good idea and putting that hideous 100X Space Zoom text on it. They're unrefined, no class, no taste and definitely not worth $1000+.

AJ Dude I have iphone pro max 256gb and it is sh***t. I am going back to Huawei. I was Samsung fan until S7, have then try honor and later mate and p series from huawei. Huawei is far the best. I remember what all we had to do, to sync files to the phone.

You can definitely use it without Google. I'm still using the P40 Pro as my daily phone...I don't really miss google

Great video. I'm trying to find a work around for group text on my Mate 40. When I send a message to multiple contacts the replies are individual texts outside of the group.
