I'm actually excited for harmony, more competition better things coming in the future! Android started out crappy but look at it now it's awesome.
The clash between China & Google is also the greatest dream for Samsung who will have extreme power over Google to dictate terms since if they go leave Android it could easily destroy the Smartphone & Tablet OS markets. As a result LG and Sony also will have extreme power over Google since they will be the only major players remaining. Not to mention that even Alcatel is a Chinese company which uses Android who will also be banned.
If the Chinese players get banned it will also be a dream for Amazon for their tablets.
The Chinese companies will be afraid of being completely dependent upon Android since the Huawei ban will always be a cautionary tale that soon even they can get banned. So to make sure that the ban doesn't affect their business they will do everything to make sure they can sell well independently of Android which means creating their own operating systems. Huawei being the biggest Chinese brand will strike deals with local rivals to take advantage of the clash. Since the more big firms are using only 1 operating system the easier it will it to be attract app developers since the OS will be bigger than Android and Apple.

Well the Windows Phones were good and soooo durable. But it didn't have enough good apps. I think that was the problem, as per my friends and my personal.

Today be honest, pairing Android with Windows seamlessly is not an easy task for avrg users (you'll get more if u use Microsoft Launcher tough). Like displaying your phones to Windows with third party apps like Apppowermirror or other else like integrating notifications, calls, contacts, and photos using Microsoft Launcher (it still lacks feature like reply instantly with any other social media apps, or storage shares between devices).
To be honest those are pretty janky solutions and average users don't have a time to do the untie and pay them one by one to get full accesses.
That's why having a reliable and easy way to integrate devices is a big demand and also important these days. Apple has done that solution (kinda) by making devices (iPhones, Macbook, MacPC, iPad, wearables, wheels??) that connect into a unified ecosystem with less janky solutions like Android.
Huawei, in the other hands, takes it to another level by making every Huawei's products use a single OS that runs on pretty much any Huawei's latest devices. That way the solutions might be more flawlessly than Apples, Android, or Windows. I can see the future when Huawei fans might not want to move to other platforms because how seamlessly Huawei's ecosystem is and that's pretty appealing and facinating.
I still miss my htc phone 😭
Once HTC moved to Android, every player believed that Android is future but here come Harmony after a decade.

ChrisJLee no, I live in the Philippines but some of my relatives are Chinese, and are living in mainland China, whenever they visit I asked why they don’t use huawei,most of them refuses to use a huawei since they say that it’s equivalent of holding trash in their hands, plus unlike google it’s extremely hard to use and huawei’s company has strong ties with CCP and it’s plain obvious what happens after that.

As a user of a huawei phone I have to say they have done an amazing job at porting important apps here in sweden. Every deal breaker app is here like bank apps, online ID apps, and alike. The phones in themselves are top of the line stuff too. I've ordered a note 20 ultra now at launch, just for the s pen feature, and I fear I might regret my choice going from huawei.

I am seeing a lot of people comparing Microsoft with Huawei's scenario.There's is a significant difference between Microsoft and Huawei's approach.Microsoft charged manufacturers licensing fee for using windows on their smartphones much like what they're doing for pc.On the other hand Android was free to use.Unsurprisingly,manufacturer's chose android.
Also Huawei is letting developers keep the revenue from their AppGallery for 2 years.This type of scheme never existed for windows phones.
And lastly, Microsoft expected developers to make windows version of their apps which is vastly different from IOS and Android without any significant help.
Huawei is not doing that at first because it will be widely unsuccessful.
So yeah these scenarios are not the same.People stop comparing these two.

@Shell Shocked My guess the US ban had more to do with intellectual property than spying (I think the spy chip was in servers not phones). Huawei cell network equipment is a carbon copy of Ericsson tech. My small carrier still has this on some towers, and I talked to one of the tower techs about what was up with all of it.

@@97irishflyer The whole banning situation is US protectivenism. It does make sense that Trump wants to protect US's own business. However those spying/stealing/security treat things are just excuses for him to make the ban happen legally. I tried to look things up but can't really find any valid proof of Huawei doing intellectual stealing or spying.(if you know any plz let me know. I'm curious). Last week the US annouced that any non-US company cannot coorperate with Huawei as long as their products contain US technology (which means, TSMC, the Taiwanese chip manufacturer, cannot produce Kirin chips for Huawei anymore). That is is the most despicatble and shameless move I ever seen done by a big country like the US(who claims to be a "free market" country).

I would say HMS will not be better than regular GMS android devices, all the security issues android phones now have will be there too.
The difference is, HMS on Huawei devices will be like iOS on Apple devices, it's more about their closed environment which would allow them to fully utilize the power of the device. Comparatively, iPhones usually have smaller batteries than Android phones but they have similar battery hours and smoother user experiences, that is what Huawei devices trying to achieve with this new stuff..
Harmony OS is more for the 5G and connections among IoT, security issues on that area is unknown because we're not there yet.

I don't know why everyone's talking about politics? I'm not saying anything good or bad about China. It's a communist government which has opened up to capitalist trade with a high degree of government intervention. Whilst the US government is supposed to be held accountable for invasion of privacy, China does not have this caveat and goes to much greater lengths. I buy from Chinese companies for great tech at a low price, but I would never buy it if security and privacy were my main concern and suggesting someone should trust a Chinese manufacturer for privacy is inherently misleading. I have no political bias here, if anything I have a positive bias towards Chinese tech companies, being a customer myself. Facts do not come with a political opinion built in.
Serious concern: with complete control over the silicon and the OS, what’s preventing Huawei from creating a black box to protect/hide features or system processes from the user? Ever heard of the Intel Management Engine? There are legitimate security concerns surrounding Huawei’s access to and use of user data. What’s stopping them from harvesting data secretly from users? It’s a proprietary OS running on a proprietary chip now.

Yeah! my app can run everywhere, but now that notification or even sound managing libraries are external, I can depend completely on them, so my app runs everywhere and can't run properly. Look, my app is on the TV (but doesn't display), but is using RAM on the TV, YAY?. Android already has TV, Cars, IoT, this magical Harmony universe is nothing new.

TBH, huawei seems like a complete afterthought. If I don't want Apple, I go Samsung. If I don't want Samsung, I could go Google. If I don't want Google, I go Xperia. Huawei is easily the last choice I'd make.

Android has become way more lazy with troubleshooting, knowing their users have nowhere to go... Hopefully this is gonna change
