    Hi Leo, always amazes me that you have more dexterity with one hand than I have with 2! I personally hate working with masking tape so sterling work! Will be interested to see the longevity of the paint on the pvc and how often it needs re coating.

    Well done mate, nothing wrong with having a go. Been a painter for 25years. You have done a better job than most painters who are after the quick cash grab.
    Also for others moaning about painting UPVC, I have seen this first hand last for 8-10years (longer than paint on timber windows/fascias/soffits).
    The zinsser products are unbeatable. Do not react, crack, peel providing cleaned and prepared properly.
    Dont listen to the haters.
    My only criticism is get a better brush & roller or try spraying. The pro rollers and brushes arent much more expensive but will give a better finish, easier...

    Did my front door 4 years ago with zinsser all coat in farrow and ball Pigeon colour match and it looks as good as when I first painted it,I just added a bit of floetrol paint conditioner because it was hot when I did it and the floetrol stops it from drying out to quick especially when hand painting a large door plus it levels the paint slightly as well.

      Cheers for the message. Up here in the north west we get the worst of everything weather wise! Windows still look great and I’d definitely recommend the Zinnser Allcoat (the one I used was the water based, much easier to apply than the solvent based). Make sure you follow the preparation steps I did as the prep is the key to a good result. And don’t worry about the first coat looking a bit crap, that’s the primer coat and the second coat will look great!
      Finally remember to open the windows when painting so you get full coverage. I didn’t on my as it’s just the workshop and I don’t open them often but you also want to paint underneath where the frame and window meet 👍

    Nice job Leo. I’d be interested in a follow up some time later to see how the paint holds up. We’ve got a brown framed conservatory but white windows everywhere else and the replacement roof on the conservatory is white so I’ve been thinking of something similar to paint the frames white.
    One tip I use is to wrap the brush and roller in a polythene bag after use so no air gets in. It’ll keep them fresh to continue painting the next coat and saves you cleaning them between coats. Works fine overnight so be no issue for quick drying paint like this

    Hi, thanks for the video, I am looking at painting my interior white from rosewood, would you suggest a white primer first or will the Zinsser Allcoat be okay with 2 coats? Also is the paint solvent based and one thing you never did in the video was open the window which I would need to consider - are there any implications with painting the openings? Thanks in advance

    • @Hand-i-Craft
      @Hand-i-Craft  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the message. I’m pretty sure you’d be fine with two coats of Allcoat as the first coat acts as a primer. There are both solvent and water based versions of it and I used the water based👍. And yes if I was painting the house windows I’d have them opened to give whole coverage, doesn’t matter so much for workshop windows, as long as they look ok closed 😀

      Sugar soap comes in either concentrated form or ready to use pal. It’s recommended to use sugar soap on walls before painting them so thought it would be appropriate to use it here. Worked really well 😀😀👍👍

    Can you post a follow up on this job? I bet the paint is already cracking and peeling off after 1 year. Paint your PVC window only if you are selling the house, it is purely extetic but will not last. Laminate a UV resisting film for PVC if you are not planning to sell

    I've been decorating for over 50 years and have never seen anything like this,Firstly sugar soap waste of time use ammonia dilute it with water ( hot) 5 to1 secondly don't use masking tape if you can't cut in you can't paint and thirdly don't paint upvc windows as it won't last PS WOULD LOVE TO THIS JOB IN A COUPLE OF YEARS
