Can you tell me if an engine from a 2006 vibe will work in a 2001 Corolla? My engine is blown and the scrap yard saying that the vibe engine is different. Something about the vvti, saying it won’t run right. I know the intake manifold and throttle body’s would have to be swapped and possibly the exhaust manifold. I don’t want to buy the engine if it can’t be swapped.
The scrap yard is correct. The Vibe and Matrix engines from 2003 and later all have VVTi. They require a different Engine Computer Module and different engine harness and body harness.
If your engine is a vvti engine, you will need to move your knock sensor to the new engine, move the fuel rail and injectors to the new engine, move the intake and throttle body to the new engine, then it should just plug in to your engine harness and run with your ECU.
Never tried it but I imagine it messes up the oil flow through the head. If you want to disable VVT just unplug the OCV. You will have a DTC but the engine will run fine. If you want to run at a fixed advance then remove the camshaft, open the gear, and weld it to whatever position you want.
Hello sir, i have a 2zzge engine with 65k miles, i have the car 3 years and all this years i hear 4 times in cold start rattle noise (1sec) maybe is this gear on video or chain tesioner etc...can destroy the engine this sir ? Today i hear again the rattle only 1 sec on cold start and only if the car stay over 3 days without working the engine and all oil is on oil pan. also the engine work perfectly after this rattle sound, no issues.
Make sure it is not the accessory belt tensioner making this noise. To test, while the car is cold, remove the accessory belt (this means the serpentine belt), then start the car. With worn out accessory belt tensioner, you will often get a noise on cold start. If this is not the cause of the noise, then it is due to low oil pressure on start. Can't reallly do anything simple about that.
@@Merryfrankster_I have some marks on my camshaft lobes like wear but is smooth with my nail test from side to side. Is this dangerous for the camshaft life or can live like this another 80k miles (I have 80k now) ?
@@DimoS... In general if it passes the nail test it is ok. But make sure it stays well lubricated. Use high quality oil with good wear prevention properties. Check the valve clearance in case it needs any adjustment. Too loose = more noise, too tight = more wear.
@Merryfrankster_ thanks sir. I use 0w40 mobil1 fs every 2.500 miles and my valves clearance in intake cam is 0.15mm. 0.006 inches if I'm not wrong. Spec is 0.08-0.18mm right?

Which is the tool that you used for opening the four bolt .can you send pictures of the tool to me
Sorry I did not find the correct pentagon socket so I just used locking plier to loosen the bolts, they are not very tight.

Is that just the vibe and matrix or the 2003 and newer corollas as well?
My car says vvt-i on the plastic cover that bolts to the valve cover
The 2003 Corolla is almost exactly same as 2003 Matrix@@Scotttt34

Hi,can a vvti engine start or run without a vvti cam shaft and without sensor

@@Merryfrankster_ Can you do a video on this?
@@AnythingEverythingGh What's "this."
@@Merryfrankster_ Open the sprocket, advance it manually and put it back to the car.
@@AnythingEverythingGh For $5 maybe I would. Mariachis don't play for free.

These bolts are 11-mm because Toyota doesn't want these actuators serviced. They can be rebuilt, but Toyota only wants customers to buy new ones.

Hopefully that’s a trashed cam… just closed up in the vice like that.
The vise is on a flat spot. The vice lies in not noticing that. Ha ha. Vice, versus vise. Get it? Ignorance is bliss.
