Love Amy's spontaneous humor in these, and how Mary works them into the teaching. Also didn't know that about rug fringe. Figure I need to know what I would be dealing with, this is awesome
Once I accidentally left a lamp cord uncovered and while I wasn't looking, my bunny chewed it. A while later I turned on the light and stepped on the wire right where she had chewed and it shocked me like crazy.
While the tubing you show in the video may be durable, most hardware type stores sell plastic cable shielding which is already split down the middle. This is definitely safer than cutting a long slit in your own tubing, and the do a good job protecting your cords and cable from your bunny... and vice versa. :)Thanks for posting this!
When I was a kid I had an amazing grey mini lop named LightFoot, he was great, rode around on my shoulders. He was free range, and once one of my siblings pulled a heat vent cover off the wall without me knowing, and in went LightFoot! We pulled him out two levels down in a heating pipe in the basement! Luckily it was summer and the furnace was off!
I paint everythıng I dont want my rabbıt to eat wıth that naıl polısh for people who bıte theır naıls. It tastes bad so one bıte and she shakes her head and turns away. It works really well, try ıt!!!
You got to be careful about which kind you buy though because I've bought some for my kid to get them to stop chewing their nails and it didn't work at all. So I tasted it and it didn't have the flavor whatsoever. But you can make your own repellent by Mix 2 tablespoons of cayenne pepper, 2 tablespoons of garlic powder, and a squirt of dish detergent with 20 ounces of warm water.
I'm getting a rabbit in a few weeks and m so excited, the seller made an exception for me so I can get the bunny earlier than normal since I live so close to the seller so she can help if the rabbit isn't eating or something
That doesn't really sound right. Rabbits can't leave their mothers until 8 weeks old regardless of anything.... you should adopt instead, they're much more responsible and you're less likely to get a sick rabbit and they can help you understand their proper needs better. Plus the rabbit will be spayed/neutered which is 1: extremely expensive 2: 100% necessary to avoid reproductive cancer and behavior problems at 3+ months old. Check out petfinder.com and rabbit.org
My bunny has chewed over 6 of my chargers. And I make sure to put cords up on the couch before I go to sleep but sometimes they fall on the floor and she chews them. Im sooo glad she hasn't gotten electrocuted yet
Not always, if you provide them a safe and enriching home, then they can enjoy the outdoors. You just have to make sure you don't ignore them due to thr fact they're outside, you still need to give them as much attention as before
Maribel Martinez For me it's fine. We use heaters in our garage, so it's pretty warm even when it's a an average winter day. If it gets below zero though, I do bring my bunnies inside.
I'm going to be inheriting one of my sister in law's three pet rabbits and thought I d educate myself... Sounds like these little buggers can be destructive if left in free-range! Luckily we have a nice big fenced-in backyard; but yeah, they should have a supervised kind of home environment.
Put wire protectors on the wires, block the bed with a small fence around the side right up up against it, no household plants, cover carpet, hardwood and other floors, cover base boards and find ways such as covering furniture or spraying vinegar mixture on the furniture, and locking up bad chemicals. You should make sure one room is safer than the others so it can be your bunny's own room. This applies whether you live in a house or an apartment. These rules don't just apply to rabbits you also have to do the same things if you have a puppy or a kitten. Because all three of these animals can get themselves into trouble.
I've always wanted a bunny/rabbit, and recently I just found a breed that I absolutely adore. But I am not sure if I have the time, as I have a horse. They take up alot of time, but I thought I could take the bunny with me as I went to the stables. I am pretty confident that I'll be able to handle having a rabbit, even tough its hard work. Horses are also hard work, so Im pretty used to it.
This is why I love where I live. It's perfect for owning a rabbit, or any indoor animal really. Our houses are not made of wood, they're made of cement, so no chewing. Our floors are 99% of the time tile, so no problem with chewing carpets! ^_^ The cables are something I thought about, but I didn't even think about the bed. So far my new bun isn't allowed in our rooms at all, she's so small she can get in anywhere, once she's a bit bigger and can't fit in some spots that I just can't cover, she'll have supervised roaming rights :3
Excellent, rabbits chew! As children, my youngest sister was about 7 or 8 years old, and at Easter (never gets a pet of any kind when the family is going to get fussy about how clean the house is, company is coming, going on a vacation with other family and friends in the group or repairs, or re-decorating at the house. Why? Everyone is so stressed, yelling, doors slamming, pets already part of the family know just hide or get out of the way...just feed me first! All humans are animals in the Biological Order called: Animal Kingdom and new pets will stress in this emotional mess. This channel is great, I have had many rabbits in my life, we forget, personalities of pets are all different, we can bond better with our "children in fur" (I am not excluding reptiles, birds, and other remarkable animals, in fact they are included for everyone who has them or is planning on adopting any of these creature.) Howcast is a channel with years of experience, Tyler Rudd is another who is also caring and tells us the facts now. The two women in Howcast balance each other and I ask rabbit lovers to watch them with other favourite channels, all mentioned here should be included; your pet is counting on you to keep healthy and happy! Oh, these women have done videos on adopting instead of buying please watch these videos!
I'm so glad for these video's. I want to get a rabbit and I've been doing research for two months and I'm learning about things that i didn't even know
We bought one of the long tubes from home depot they form concrete pillars with and painted and decorated it for cotton our bunny. He loves to run through it and hide and chin and chew on it 😜
I covered the lower part of my sheetrock walls with chicken wire..my rabbit had chewed completely thru the wall into the closet..chicken wire isn't expensive and fixed the problem
My rabbits found all my cords no matter where I hid them (I think it was because they love to burrow). I was very lucky none of them seemed prone to chewing cords.
My bunny eats the news paper witch I use in her little box. Also eats the pain from the wall 😅 she really is like a baby to me. I can't take my eyes of her.
I have a female rabbit...and I plan to get a male. :-) Rabbits are very adorable! My rabbit is very observant. She pees exactly where my shih tzu does. I'm just glad that, whenever it's their "playtime"... I don't have to litter train her anymore. She plays with my shih tzu, too. They run around on my bed!
I have two rabbits and I love both of them. One is a sweet heart and loves to be held and played with. The second one is sorta mean but they love each other. What should I do?
Melissa Langer its a lot less likely for them to be able to chew it since it isn't nearly as satisfying as other stuff. if you have plenty of chew toys, like blocks of wood or carrots or my personal favorite, the base of a lettus head, they are far less likely to chew plastic things. wires are an exception because they give a bit and are so sayifying to chew! im a chewer myself and I tend to nibble on the wires of my headphones and such just because of how soft yer firm it is. for a rabbit they need stuff to nibble on that will satisfy their need to chew stuff. bunny proof wires or keep them out of any rooms with a lot of them (like any offices n such) and give them good things to chew that they will prefer and go to as oppose to tasty wiresm
Figuring out a good and safe play area is the hardest part about having a rabbit. There is not much you can do if the rabbit chooses to chew carpet, but for baseboard chewing there is a trick, what you do is run a bar of soap along the baseboard and they won't touch it. Make sure it is a plain white bar of soap, not something like Irish Spring otherwise it can harm the rabbit. Some rabbits simply are not interested in chewing carpet or baseboard, but if you have a bunny who chews carpet, you could put down a tarp of some sort on the carpet which would cover more space than mats. I have used a sort of tarp material I got at Home Depot which is like a potato sack material (fiber, not a plastic tarp). Good luck to you! Dino (www.rabbithelp.com)
I didn't have any problems until I got the second rabbit. I actually trained the first not to chew by gently pushing her head away and saying no when she chewed the carpet, but once I got the second rabbit, the second taught the first how to destroy stuff, so now there is no point. Nothing works like it used to. Was a really bad decision to get a second. Gave the second to a friend. She's okay. At least now my first only chews if the spot is hidden under something.
***** I figured out what stops the chewing. As long as there is no carpet hidden under things then she won't chew it. She only chews when she thinks she can't be seen. I let her run free in our bedroom cause there is no carpet under anything she can hide under even tho the whole room is carpeted. She hasn't chewed carpet since. I'm working on bunny proofing my other rooms better.
My rabbit has carpet floor in her cage and runs around on my carpet floor all day long, she has never scratched it ate it. But she will try eat fleece.
Sooooo what you’re saying is that I have to cover all the carpet in the living room with more carpet? 😩 Damn apartment complex. My bf and I tried getting an apt without carpet, but they didn’t have any available. And this complex suited our every other need, so we went with it. Starting to doubt our decisions. 😭
Great video! We just got a little bunny. Someone left it in a box by the trash. It looks exactly like the one in the video just much smaller. What breed is this? We are in the process of getting it a nice bunny house and everything it needs. Any advice on things that rabbits like in their houses?
Help! I might be getting a bunny, but my bedroom has like a billion cords! And I cant tube then at all! I have 3 fish tanks and they all have about 3 to 4 cords each!! HELP!
make sure all the cords, are in an area, then fence it, I personally don't have a rabbit, but I'm learned and red enough, to understand that if you can tube all of it then just fence the area that they're at, depending on the size of the rabbit, maybe a baby gate would work, or some other method.
my rabbit doesn't like those carpets, he destroyed 2 of them, he chewed and scratched them till total destruction. I put my cables in a hard plastic clip on tunnels. I have a question about scratching... my rabbit is always scratching floors, why is he doing that?
I just put pillows and other harmless stuff to keep my rabbit from going under my bed and she totally forgets about it. So I guess that works too. But that's my rabbit! Keep in mind this didn't work for everyone's rabbit. I just know it works for mine :)
What I do is I put all my cords in an empty mesh trash can with an power strip that plugs into the actual outlet. It prevents chewing and it much easier to look at lol
My rabbit stays in my room where I have my computer, tv, and such. I put wood around my bed to block off the underside of it so the rabbit cant get under the bed. It's chewed on a few cords but it seems to of learned to not chew on cords anymore. I let it stay out of the cage at night sometimes when i go to bed and it wonders my room perfectly fine without chewing on anything. though it tears the hell out of the dog carrier in my room that it uses as a small den like area or hides on the bottom fo my bookshelf behind a drone box as another den. I removed my movies from the bottom fo my movie rack and it runs through there but doesnt chew on the movies anymore. I pretty much rabbit proofed the room as best as its gonna get but the wood concerns me at times as Im unsure if it's good if the rabbit chews on it or not. It nipped at it a few times but doesnt chew on it. Would it hurt the rabbit in any way if it decides to chew on the wood?
Any tips to stop them from chewing the carpet? We have a new bunny and we stop her when we see it. She has plenty of hay and chew toys that she could chew instead. And sometimes does. Just worried bc she seems to like chewing and tugging on the carpet. One of the big reasons we can’t let her free roam while we aren’t there.
What about a carpet my rabbit loves to go to a corner and dig at the carpet I blocked it up but even in the middle of the room she tries eating the carpet what shud I do??
Give your rabbit stuff to chew on that are good for them, lika tree branches from safe and healthy trees, so they wont wanna chew other things so much. BUT STILL RABBIT PROOF is important! Just let them have good things to chew on so they are happy and healthy. There is reasons why they chew stuff, they are made to chew all the time, but they must chew hay, branches, greens and so on. :D
What about if you have just too many wires to tube them all? We have all the wires from our internet router set up, TV, and our PS4 system. She hasn't been known for chewing but we just got her spayed and once her hormones level out and her litter box habits are solid, we will let her in the living room. I was thinking of using NIC grids and fencing off the area entirely. Would that work? Advice would help greatly. We still have just over a month or so but want to have an idea set. Thanks in advance :)
Yeah that’s why I have to rabbit proof my room My rabbit got lost and we searched everywhere for her She was under my bed inside the boxspring and luckily she was ok so that’s why I bunny proof
I need some advice- Im planning to keep a bunny in a room without a cage (rabbit proofed, no wires, no where to escape, no plants etc) and i can deal with it pooing around when it isnt trained but are their any other precautions of things i should worry about when i arent there? thanks:)
I could never block my bedroom off from my baby. He loves to sleep on my bed with me. I just chose to buy a bed frame that sits flat on the floor. So there is no space for him to get underneath my bed. Just wanted to throw that out there!
you can corner off a room in your house with c&c wire, etc and put down non-slip mats. they don't have to have full roam of the house, but make sure they have a decent amount of space to play.
Based on these videos, it is too problematic to have a rabbit. Straw, rabbit proof your house, chewing on carpet and electrical cords---I am already tired just thinking about purchasing a rabbit as a pet.
+Kelley You'va gotta want it. My family didn't seem to realise they're like cats pretty much. So now we have to do the whole room, and it's so annoying because we have so many areas to restrict him off, but it's also too small to just get a c&c cage, so he needs to roam free. He got under the sofa in the early days and it took us ages to fish him out, then he'd always do it, so we had to make it a lower sofa! haha you really have to want it. It's just like getting a cat - especially the dwarf rabbits as they're so energetic.
the chewing on cords and carpet is really only a problem if you allow your rabbit to be free range. if you corner off a room in the house and put non-slip rugs, those problems would go away. but you still have to give it lots of attention and toys.
Chloe Panda Rabbits are a lot of work but I think they would be worth it for me. Because of where I live now I can't see myself getting any right away but I have been going to Hoppy Hours and the local animal shelter to learn and get to know them.
The resilience of their digestive system varies a lot individual to individual. And it depends on the type of fibers of the carpet. Some bunnies + some carpet fibers = death, yes. Other bunnies + other carpet fibers = just fine. But since you don't know which it's gonna be until the bunny eats some carpet, it's never worth the risk.
good, rabbits aren't for everyone, I love my rabbit to death and I know from experience that they are like constantly having a puppy that gets into things and destroys furniture, they are a lot of work
so many rabbits are in shelters because parents think they can get their kid a rabbit as a fun pet but they don't understand the work you have to put into it, please don't get a rabbit if there is even a small chance that you may put it in a shelter
do you place toys and hideaway holes and hay outside the cage? they could be bored. but there are many reasons why they are not coming out (for example, old age, sickness, or they feel safest there) I would suggest some research.
Love Amy's spontaneous humor in these, and how Mary works them into the teaching. Also didn't know that about rug fringe. Figure I need to know what I would be dealing with, this is awesome
Love these two ladies,especially Mary.
One of the few bunny "experts" online who genuinely knows her onions....
Once I accidentally left a lamp cord uncovered and while I wasn't looking, my bunny chewed it. A while later I turned on the light and stepped on the wire right where she had chewed and it shocked me like crazy.
Oh gosh
who else thinks rabbits noses are so cute
When I got my first rabbit ghost a little chubby Florida White I didn't know they made little noises when they drink water 🐰
@@marshallcouto8229 the slurping haha my rabbit slurps alot and puts his nose into the water
Me!
Me ✋🏻✋🏻
my rabbit might be a freak
he doesnt chew wires, furniture or baseboards
what a saint
those eyes stare into my soul... i love it..
I tacked my cords to the ceiling and put everything chewable 50 cm off the ground. I think it's pretty safe.
That sounds like a good idea
LOL... In other words, the Rabbit is running your house. Makes perfect sense
1:43 Did she say 'straight guys do it all the time'? XD It's true. That's why straight guys aren't my type :P
DIBIDIBIDI MY NAME IS MIN HO
omg she did lol
I give heart! for your comment 'what is my life'
It’s true haha. Had to adjust my ways when I got my bunny.
lol i had to rewind that part too!
OMFG! IM GETTING A BUNNY AND YOU ARE SCARING ME TO HELL
I paint everythıng I dont want my rabbıt to eat wıth that naıl polısh for people who bıte theır naıls. It tastes bad so one bıte and she shakes her head and turns away. It works really well, try ıt!!!
I put habanero salsa on all the corners of my furniture, it seem to work just fine too lol
Ari Kahn some tape also works the same. it also is pretty much invisible and has a nice polish too!
Fraankie Dee
It's non-toxic
Great Idea thanks!
You got to be careful about which kind you buy though because I've bought some for my kid to get them to stop chewing their nails and it didn't work at all. So sad how these two never post about rabbits on howcast anymore :(
Bean is so adorable. Thank you for these bunny-loving videos.
Another tip for cords that I have had success with is crocheting them. My bunny can't chew through the yarn and you can make pretty cords.
2:55 Hiding in my bed and eating my carpet has scared me straight to not get a rabbit ever. Thanks for the video.
I LOVE UNSTOPPABLES , ESPECIALLY THE BLUE ONES
My bunny has chewed over 6 of my chargers. And I make sure to put cords up on the couch before I go to sleep but sometimes they fall on the floor and she chews them. Im sooo glad she hasn't gotten electrocuted yet
zoe is stereotypical trash If you unplug them from the wall there will be no chances of electrocution.

Holly Martin Thats a pretty old way of thinking.
+Holly Bug the temperatures outside are not suitable for domestic rabbits, at least not where I live, and most people live

Welp. Guess I'm not gonna get a pet rabbit after all.
Bunny's are great pets they're just not for everyone
Can u bring ur rabbits as like guest stars
Yes of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NOT!
The bun in the vid is the left lady’s bunny
i have two baby bunnies and i keep them in a caged little house area i take them outside and close of the spaces so they and walk around
Tq 4 the vedio actually , I am gonna by a rabbit before that I thought about researching and now thank goodness lots of tips I never imagined.
My bunny eats the news paper witch I use in her little box. Also eats the pain from the wall 😅 she really is like a baby to me. I can't take my eyes of her.
i am getting a rabbit and you have helped me so much

Thanks so much for these videos honestly I've learned so much from you guys xxx

yes just to make sure

Equestriancrazy you wanna make sure that your rabbit gets out of its cage ... otherwise it well get a leg defection

My neighbors just gifted us with a bunny! AHHH I don't know how to take care of it!
WHY?!!
my rabbit doesn't like those carpets, he destroyed 2 of them, he chewed and scratched them till total destruction. I put my cables in a hard plastic clip on tunnels. I have a question about scratching... my rabbit is always scratching floors, why is he doing that?
My brother chews cords but gets mad when I tell him to stop
my daughters toy dachsund burned his mouth on a cord as a new puppy which required a vet visit...and recovery from sore mouth.
I just put pillows and other harmless stuff to keep my rabbit from going under my bed and she totally forgets about it. So I guess that works too. But that's my rabbit! Keep in mind this didn't work for everyone's rabbit. I just know it works for mine :)
Omg I love Bean so much!!
What if I just use the largest size of dog pen for play time? Would that be okay? P.s I don't have rabbits but I'm hoping for one
What I do is I put all my cords in an empty mesh trash can with an power strip that plugs into the actual outlet. It prevents chewing and it much easier to look at lol
What can I use for the door because that is the only place that my rabbit attacks and I don't know how to do that
Do u still sell rabbits I want to get a rabbit in a few months
should i take my rabbit to the vet every month or every week?
Do what ever u feel ur rabbit needs
......twice a year....
once a year unless they are sick should be plenty
The bunny is so cute ^^
Do towels work as a mat to protect from carpet
If I get a rabbit is it safe to use an essential oil diffuser
I use peppermint oil
Any tips to stop them from chewing the carpet? We have a new bunny and we stop her when we see it. She has plenty of hay and chew toys that she could chew instead. And sometimes does. Just worried bc she seems to like chewing and tugging on the carpet.
One of the big reasons we can’t let her free roam while we aren’t there.
What if I use a spray that is said to have specific pheromones that keep away my rabbit from electrical wires??
What about a carpet my rabbit loves to go to a corner and dig at the carpet I blocked it up but even in the middle of the room she tries eating the carpet what shud I do??
Give your rabbit stuff to chew on that are good for them, lika tree branches from safe and healthy trees, so they wont wanna chew other things so much. BUT STILL RABBIT PROOF is important! Just let them have good things to chew on so they are happy and healthy. There is reasons why they chew stuff, they are made to chew all the time, but they must chew hay, branches, greens and so on. :D
If you have a litter of rabbits can the litter of rabbits interact with the Dad bunny
Thanks to you. You I don’t want me to get a rabbit anymore
I was thinking the same thing. Our computer, printer and stereo are all in out living room. I might just use baby-guard fence to block that area off.
Yeah I was thinking of getting more NIC grids and tubing
my rabbit likes to chew on the wall material like he will just bite a chunk off it should i be concerned?
Yes
😎
Yeah that’s why I have to rabbit proof my room
My rabbit got lost and we searched everywhere for her
She was under my bed inside the boxspring and luckily she was ok so that’s why I bunny proof
Cute bunny!
Hi thanks for the review, are you in New York?
I was wondering if anyone knows where to get those rugs? thanks
Hello. Can someone please tell me if rabbits can chew through paracord? Can I wrap it around a short wire as a wire cover?
Haha, yes. btw just offtopic you probs don't have real paracord.
I woud love more tips for bunny proofing a house...
straight guys? I feel marginalized
These Two "babes" are off the Market...Consider yourself lucky to have dodged that bullet.. lol
@@ImaWarmFuzzy chill dude
I need some advice- Im planning to keep a bunny in a room without a cage (rabbit proofed, no wires, no where to escape, no plants etc) and i can deal with it pooing around when it isnt trained but are their any other precautions of things i should worry about when i arent there? thanks:)
Just make sure that your under bed is in accessible.
thanks but my rabbit has a cage downstairs now:)
I could never block my bedroom off from my baby. He loves to sleep on my bed with me. I just chose to buy a bed frame that sits flat on the floor. So there is no space for him to get underneath my bed. Just wanted to throw that out there!
I still need to use my dresser and I don’t know the paint on it and I don’t want it to be ruined any tips?
NIC grids or union jack metal plates around the base?
Reena Lindsay then I can get in the drawers, I used some clear tape and now it’s all good but I’m still look for better alternative
how do you proof your home without anything
Lol You Watch It Every step Of It Lol
you can corner off a room in your house with c&c wire, etc and put down non-slip mats. they don't have to have full roam of the house, but make sure they have a decent amount of space to play.
spray furniture with things that taste bad
Kelley they are a lot of work, however they are great pets. If you can't handle the work you shouldn't get a rabbit.
Kelley this is why people with a lot of responsibility and time can get a rabbit
Chloe Panda Rabbits are a lot of work but I think they would be worth it for me. Because of where I live now I can't see myself getting any right away but I have been going to Hoppy Hours and the local animal shelter to learn and get to know them.
Me: thinking to get a rabbit
They: protect wires from rabbits
Me: look at my TV 23 wires near me TV
Me:hmmmm
Flex tubing could solve that. You can get 100ft for around 26$ on Amazon.
my rabbit can't be stopped he will chew everything. even if there is plastic.
Woah! So bunnies can die from chewing up carpet?..
I am struggling to focus because there is a bunny being a bunny in the video and I can't pay attention.
A kid in my class had a ferret and it died in a hide a bed
no but she bites the cage and I give her card bird I can adored toys
I need help i cant find a vet by me for my rabbits. Dos any body know about a vet near riverton Utah for rabbits?
Call call call do your research on vets ask anyone
Search up on google exotic pet vets near me
This makes me think twice about having a pet rabbit :/
good, rabbits aren't for everyone, I love my rabbit to death and I know from experience that they are like constantly having a puppy that gets into things and destroys furniture, they are a lot of work
so many rabbits are in shelters because parents think they can get their kid a rabbit as a fun pet but they don't understand the work you have to put into it, please don't get a rabbit if there is even a small chance that you may put it in a shelter
no pet is really for enyone come to think of it
No pet is really for anyone come to think of it
I'm commenting cause my bunny don't really come out of her cage what's probely ring
Dont worry, it might just be because shes really comfortable
do you place toys and hideaway holes and hay outside the cage? they could be bored. but there are many reasons why they are not coming out (for example, old age, sickness, or they feel safest there) I would suggest some research.
