Ooooh! I learned about this game from a Kim Justice vid on 'obscure Japanese pro wrestling games that aren't FirePro' and ya, this game looks stacked on many levels. Thanks for covering this one in detail and looking forward to more of these!
In North America, I highly recommend Natsume Championship Wrestling for the SNES... A true hidden gem that is playable by th masses today with the SNES playlist with a Nintendo Switch Online membership (just the basic membership is required for NES, SNES, and Original Game Boy)
Really underrated game. I remember playing this one a little back in the late 90s, a few people in the Fire Pro scene liked it as well. It's a lot of fun, and a lot of options that we still don't see often enough for a lot of newer games (like guest referee).
Wrestling games were the holy grail to me as a kid. I still remember trying to convince my self I liked European Rampage on the Amiga ☠️ wish I'd have known about the fire pro games, I did actually love Royal Rumble on my SNES, but would have been so excited to find all of these other titles. Great videos my man, I absolutely love them 💪🏻
Oh, man! I would love to see a video on Saturday Night Slam Masters. I loved that game as a kid and I have fond memories of it. Amazing job as always, Wrestling Bios!!
I'm actually putting together something for Slam Masters. I began earlier in the week, just recording footage for the different home ports. Hoping to finish it next week (or the week after).
Awesome! I own a huge pile of these Super Famicom Japanese wrestling games! They're so cheap (or at least were 15 years ago when I bought most of them) that I just had to! Great to see them getting some love here on the channel! Thanks for all the hard work! You deserve all the views!
A few years ago I discovered an absolute gem of a game. Kings Soul AJPW for ps1 (japan only). Its a 3d wrestler made by Human, who made the Fire pro games. They were the precursor to the king of colloseum ps2 games, but I prefer this ps1 game cause the pacing of the matches are more in line with a 90s AJPW match (KOC and KOC2 was too arcadey for my taste) You should do a review someday!!
Awesome video! I'd really recommend sitting down and familiarizing yourself with the katakana alphabet, especially if you want to seriously get into imported Japanese games. The letters are fairly simple to learn and you can really take advantage of the Japanese tendency to use English loan-words; the menu shown at 1:21 is about 50% understandable just with the ability to read katakana, which really helps reduce your reliance on looking back and forth at a guide. I learned katakana to help me play a different series, Super Robot Wars, that was Japanese exclusive (at the time) and it really helped reduce my frustration with navigating/memorizing menus.
Awesome stuff. Looking forward to some more Japanese game videos. There’s some real gems out there, Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 on N64 is the big one everyone talks about but other ones I think folks should look at are Shin Nippon Pro Wrestling Toukon Retsiden 3 on PS1, Giant Gram 2 and 3 on Dreamcast, and the bevy of PS2 games like the All Star Pro Wrestling series, King of the Colosseum 2, and Wrestle Kingdom 2
I looked at that new Fire Pro Wrestling game and then I saw all the old wrestlers from the 70s and 80s (my era) that were created in the workshop, along with the old rings and I had to say...how much time on this planet do I have left to sink 5000 hrs into that game lol
Amazingly never played this one and I thought I got to play every SNES Japanese wrestling game. Or maybe I did but I was to invested in Fire Pro and the AJPW games to care about this one.
Freakin' awesome lineup. It's like the FIFA or FIBA World Cup but for wrestling! UWF roster may only have 4 guys but Suzuki and Shamrock alone could murder the competition 😅
As a big fan of the movie Hook the Sega CD version of Hook which includes the films original sound track is the best way to play that game, hidden gem for sure
Great episode the mega I had was a Japanese console I got a game called ring side angels it was hard to figure out but the finishing moves where metal wrestling bios with love ya
I'd love to see videos covering the Japanese versions of Wcw/Nwo Revenge and World Tour. I found both games at a hole in wall video rental store back when I was a kid and they blew my mind. They were both so far ahead of the American versions. THQ added moves and aspects to those games that weren't available in America until Wrestlemania 2000 was released. Not gonna lie I have "permanently rented" one of those Japanese versions.
You forgot one of the major concepts of pre "Raw vs. Smackdown" wrestling games-- how's the music? Wrestling games have some of the most intense and banging music ever.
the only game I have played is wwf war zone for the Playstation and I was wondering if you would ever do a video about the the rock or cena now that could have been much better if it was a different time period but anyway keep up the good work
Burning Pro STINKS. I used to play Fire Pro Wrestling X Premium on emulators in The 90's. i played it in the 90's the only cool thing about it was having wrestlers as The Referee & Playing as a Ref. All Japan was very good for SNES but came to US as Natsume Championship Wrestling. Konami made an awesome Japanese wrestling game I believe it was called Hybrid Pro Wrestling it was more like Slam Masters not based on real wrestlers but had GREAT Weapons based matches & striking that even Fire Pro Lacks in Collision Detection.
Is there a modern version of this or Fire Pro ? I bet Japanese wrestling games destroy WWE games now . Damn , I got to look into modern Puroresu games ! Speaking of , PLEASE do a video about new wrestling games from Japan !!!! Im now dying to see how good they are now considering how well this 8 bit game was put together .
@@Brando-Lee3725 a lot of reasons, japanese wrestling games never sell well, and now as wrestling is not as popular they probably think would sell even less.

Yeah the fire pro games have been light years ahead for decades and in some ways still are
Same
The day you realized that Japan had games like this and Super Fire Prowrestling X, while we had garbage like SuperBrawl and RAW, was a dark day.

Don't forget Fire Pro: Special Edition on Super Famicom. That one has the most depressing ending ever in a wrestling video game.

I love the wrestling game retrospectives! You do such a great job man, they're some of my favorites here on TH-cam. So detailed and complete 👌

Thanks for the perfect drop at the perfect time!!
Tecmo Pro Wrestling on NES will always be the greatest wrestling game. Love the camera angle changes during finishers.
I can't wait for a future virtual pro wrestling 2 review.
I got myself a super famicom, a sega genesis, an old crt and everdrives for both consoles. Nothing better than playing on original hardware.

really wish we got a WWF game like this back in the day
Nice! Reminds me of printing out a gamefaqs translation and ordering new japan pro wrestling 3 for the original PlayStation. That was a great game.
I love the idea to have a series on these lesser known wrestling games. Great content as always.
Appreciate your videos. Always great content.
Saturday Night Slam Masters next :D

On a U.S. SNES, all you need to do is cut out the tabs in the cartridge slot on the SNES and that's how you can play Super Famicom games.
Or you can take the motherboard of the cartridge out of the shell and put it in a U.S. SNES shell. 😄😅
Or use a Game Genie, which is the easiest way.
@@AllieRX You have to open the system to do that while the other way you don't.

Idk if you planned it this way or not, but the snare in the outro song, sounds like Lars Ulrich's via Saint Anger

Giant Gram 2000 for the Naomi is great.
And the Dreamcast port is pretty cheap still I think
remember World of Sport? you were not allowed to jump off the top rope for a long time.
Virtual pro wrestling 2 for n64 is worth the review. It's the best game ever made imo.
No mercy engine
No Mercy has the Virtual Pro Wrestling engine With Added Tables. VPW 2 was First.
@jayceegenocide4402 facts. I wanted ppl who didnt know to understand thst it's the same engine. The biggest difference is the shoot fighting/mma stuff
