I had the Genesis version of this game back when I was 14 at the time it came out. I loved the tag partner choke move when an opponent got to close to your corner, the chair, bucket, and ring bell as outside weapons. But the greatest part of this game, was something I stumbled onto at the time: As you can knock the ref out easily just by running over him, I remember knocking him out so many times with my wrestler, that he actually got up and left the ring, exiting through the crowd in the middle of the match. The match later turned into suddendeath which I won.
You missed the "Super Punch" code for the Super Nintendo. Tap up+Y&B as the game is loading up and you will hear a gunshot to confirm. You can knockout any character with one or 2 punches. Loved playing that way.
Man, I remember my parents buying this at Wal Mart and when we got home I couldn’t wait to pop it in. I’d take it to friends houses when we’re weren’t playing Mario. My favorite game for Super Nintendo.
Man if Hulk Hogan hasn't left the WWF yet when this game is in development we could have a pre-nWo team-up in this game with the likes of Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Syxx already in there.
I remember watching WrestleMania 11 and at the end Todd Pettengill would give you tips and codes on the game. During the first title screen, if you hold the start button down and press up 5 times the screen will flash. You would now be able to beat your opponent with 3 punches.
One of my favourite personal challenges was trying eliminate every single wrestler in the Royal Rumble mode with a back body drop. I think I succeed once haha.
The subtle differences were awesome. 1-2-3 Kid punching super fast in the corner. Yokozuna being unliftable by the majority of the wrestlers...that stuff was an improvement over Royal Rumble. I really did like THAT element of it.
Most inviting thing about this game was the timeliness of the roster to the product at the time. There was always en expectation that a game's development would cause a big gap between what they gave you versus what was on TV at the time but character things like Diesel, King of Harts Owen, and purple Taker were only established on TV a few months prior to the game's release, which was impressive. Adding Luna was obviously interesting also.
My favorite thing about this game is using a bucket to hit people. Really wish one day a company will bring back the bucket in a newer game as a nod to wwf raw.
Great video! I think Quang was the hidden character because they didn't have to capture image a brand new wrestler, just slap on mask and bam you got Quangs model.
RANDOM TRIVIA: When Wrestlemania:The Arcade Game, Kevin Nash(Diesel)was supposed to have the end boss of the game, but a scheduling conflict on WWF(E)'s part caused Nash to miss that lil' time off
I loved this as a kid. Had it for the Mega Drive and I would replay the rumble over and over. I played it so I was the first in and the only player to eliminate everyone. Owen Hart's special spinning move was also unstoppable and would just keep repeating that!
He didn't mention that Luna had a secret move where if you climbed the top rope and pressed a certain button combo she would morph into 123 kid and did his finisher
My father would go to the video store and rent this for me and all my neighborhood buddies every Friday when he would get off of work. We'd spend all weekend on this thing.
This was a couple years before the attitude era which is when I started watching so this is something I didnt know about til i watched wrestling game youtubers
I just uncovered my copy of this for Sega Genesis when looking through some of my old stuff the other day and it still works only thing is I can't remember how to do special moves or how to pin.
My cousin and I would have Royal Rumble matches and we would not battle against each other unless we made it down to the last two then went head to head. Great childhood memories.
I had this game for the super Nintendo as a kid, back in 94 I loved when 123 kid, doink the clown & luna would jump from one turn buckle to the other & luna and doink would turn in to the 123 kid when preforming the movies..
Loved this as a kid played it for hours it was my absolute favourite of the wwf games had it for the genesis and the game gear although I rarely played the game gear version I think I only ever played it at school I loved the raw theme at the start and that it had Vince and king on commentary always used to play as Shawn and diesel in the tag team and usually Bret or razor in the singles competitions
Nice! Loved the Kenny Omega mystery character look. I played this soo much. And watched each wrestler head to WCW. Bedlam was the most fun with a friend!
I remember picking up a used copy of RAW as a kid, and being a used game it didn't come with the manual, so I had no idea there were super moves in the game. So when Own Hart started tornado spinning in the middle of a Royal Rumble and knocking out everyone my brothers and I were left wondering, "WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?!?" as we all keeled over laughing our asses off.
Yeah, the mega moves were not in the game’s manual. I discovered them in 98’ on a website and finally could use them. I also remember only Luna, Owen and Yokozuna using mega moves. So when I found out all the players had them, I was blown away
Man I asked for this as a Christmas present. I had it in SEGA Genesis. I loved this game. I LOVED all the wrestling games LJN and had them. I played this game non stop for months along with Super Tecmo Bowl and Greatest Heavyweights.
0:24 to the right of the King on the monitor, the scratch WWF logo is there. Noticed that years ago, but thought I’d point it out for those who never noticed. Pretty cool
I had this. One of the 4 games I had. Super mario world, final fight, donkey Kong country and raw. I remember these super moves you could pull off I'd do by accident sometimes not knowing the actual button combos lol. My grandpa always got a kick out of me smacking a guy with the bucket.
Me and my brother played this all day all night back in the day. Me HBK, him Diesel. Me Bret, him Owen. Me 123 Kid, him Razor. This was my favorite game for Sega🔥🔥🔥
Whoa! I played this thing like crazy on Sega Genesis. When I got my hands on some codes, it gave it more replay value. I used to whoop on the ref until he threw his hands up and left the ring. That was hilarious.
Love this. i have this on the genesis. Doink had this move where he will turn the opponent into a ball then kick him out of the ring lol. Good for the rumble.
What was THAT? Is that Owen remix a new composition? I surely would have heard it before... Good work whoever did it. It actually sounds like it was made in 1995.
I enjoyed the SNES version a lot. Me and my friend played the Royal Rumble match from 8pm till like 3am straight. We had a lot of fun with that game. It hasn't aged well today, but for what it was back then, it was pretty fun.
I remember borrowing WWF Super Wrestlemania off a friend at the time on the Super Nintendo and played the hell out of it. I never played Royal Rumble or Raw back then because for me it was all about the look and gameplay and they looked literally no different in either. As always great video👌👌
When I was a kid, I RENTED this game and wrestlemania so many times, I could have owned both twice. They were so good. I didn't know about the secret characters or cheat codes for changing the stats. The music was my favorite part of the games. Plus they added the bucket in the second one which was so funny. They also removed Tatanka and Crush for what it's worth.
I used to rent this all the time for my Sega back in the day. It was actually very popular and you were lucky if it was available at the video store. I remember one day I saw a kid walking towards it in front of me and he turned and nodded back outside to whoever to let them know it was there. As he turned I took it, handed it to the cashier and got out of there as quick as I could.
For the best experience on Sega, you need a turbo controller with ABC buttons on the bottom and turbo ABC buttons above those . NO XYZ buttons, you can do those manually
I had this on Genesis back in the day, and my friend had the SNES version. We had to give the edge to the Genesis version though. Sure, the SNES version looks and sounds better, but we always played bedlam matches, and the SNES would chug and slowdown with the sprites of four wrestlers and a ref on the screen. Even worse, try a Royal Rumble and let six wrestlers fill the ring, The Genesis will chug too, but the SNES version can be almost unplayable at times.
I remember crush was suppose to be in the Genesis/mega drive version. I read some either wrestling or game magazine back then and they showed him in a screenshot. Super Nintendo was suppose to have someone else, possibly Kwang also. But I do remember Randy Savage was shown in the game also. Maybe that's why they ended up on the game gear version.
A few interesting things happen with this game. For one, the videogame magazine promo present this game as Raw is War. Interestingly WWF would eventually adopt that name to their own show in 1997 when they are at a rating war with WCW. Also when they show the announce table before a match, you can see the new WWF Attitude logo on the right side monitor. Very cool Easter egg indeed, almost like they could predict the future or WWF just like to use LJN's asset.
I always played Royal Rumble instead of Raw because of Mr Perfect
I had it on genesis and missed out on Mr. Perfect.
@Max Mooney Exactly
You are a man of pure culture!
My thoughts are the same.
He was my favorite person to chose too 5th grade lol
Iloved Royal Rumble 92
"That's why I kicked his leg out of his leg" Love the Owen theme intro
Fun fact. That music was taken from Owen's tag team days with Koko B Ware, called High Energy.
Oh yea!!!! I remember that!
This sounds like a remix... I can't find it on TH-cam...
I had the Genesis version of this game back when I was 14 at the time it came out. I loved the tag partner choke move when an opponent got to close to your corner, the chair, bucket, and ring bell as outside weapons.

liar
01dirtydirk yup. That almost certainly didn’t happen
01dirtydirk he’s right the ref would get pissed and leave the ring.
He's right I used to do that all the time.. The ref would get pissed and leave 😂
I used to do that too, eventually my opponent was the ref🤫😁
You missed the "Super Punch" code for the Super Nintendo. Tap up+Y&B as the game is loading up and you will hear a gunshot to confirm. You can knockout any character with one or 2 punches. Loved playing that way.
I have this at home. Still Play it once in a while. Memories.
Same here, man! I have the NES version, which I prefer.
@@justafanofnerdculture7602 SNES version is what I have.
@@jasonthompson9407 Yeah, I always felt that the Genesis version was way too fast.
@@justafanofnerdculture7602 agree 100% on that.
@@jasonthompson9407 Hey, ma, you be safe out there. Take care of yourself.
This game was 🔥 on SNES....me and an ol friend used to go hard on this in the 90's. Good times Devin💯
I also played with a Devin on this game and other SNES games lol.
@@wulver810 🍷🍷 here's to all the cool Devin's
Most of the time I played this against my friends or brother it would just end in punching matches because nobody could out tap the other.
I was just playing RAW on SNES last week. Still love that game
Beating people with the bucket is still very satisfying
For those wanting the Owen Hart intro remix, it's been posted over on my twitter (WrestlingBios). You won't need an account to get the remix. Thanks!
Really good work.
It sounds authentically mid-90's.
Mate, these songs are always excellent. Keep up the great work!
What’s the first tune?
Never mind. If you made that.....well done
What's the song mixed in with the Owen Hart theme?
Man, I remember my parents buying this at Wal Mart and when we got home I couldn’t wait to pop it in. I’d take it to friends houses when we’re weren’t playing Mario. My favorite game for Super Nintendo.
😂 we didn't have Walmart here we had Kmart or video stores
Same here, but there was no way to know how to do the mega moves
@@nmbmemphisbeast3690same here in Buffalo New York we had kmart hills kbee toys and toys are us .
We did get our first Wal-Mart in 1996
Man if Hulk Hogan hasn't left the WWF yet when this game is in development we could have a pre-nWo team-up in this game with the likes of Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Syxx already in there.
0:24 anyone ever noticed how on the monitor next to Lawler theres the WWF scratch logo 🧐🧐🧐🤔🤔🤔
It makes you wonder how long WWF had been planning to use that logo. This is 1994, and that scratch logo would not be used until 1997
This was one of the first wrestling games I've ever played.
This and Saturday Night Slam Masters were my favorite games back then.
I use to rock out to HBK song even when playing the video games his song stayed on just a LITTLE longer between matches.
John Cap same here
I remember watching WrestleMania 11 and at the end Todd Pettengill would give you tips and codes on the game. During the first title screen, if you hold the start button down and press up 5 times the screen will flash. You would now be able to beat your opponent with 3 punches.
You know you perform the code right when you hear a wrestler grunt
I got RAW for SNES Christmas of 1997, and then later the 32X version.
I used to rent this game from my local video shop. Still one of the best wrestling games imo👍
joe elkins I missed those days
That intro song sounds even more early 90s than the Streets of Rage II soundtrack.
I didn't think it was possible...
So rad!
@5:01, the 'secret' character looks more like Wildman Marco Mero than NWO Scott Hall
I remember this being my second WWF game after Rage in the Cage. I loved this game as a 9 year old kid.
Diesel's mega move is almost darn near impossible! You'll end up punching the guy in the back of the head most of the time.
One of my favourite personal challenges was trying eliminate every single wrestler in the Royal Rumble mode with a back body drop. I think I succeed once haha.
We are kindred spirits my friend. I did this.
For the longest time, this was the only way I knew how to eliminate anyone in the royal rumble
hero!
I loved the atomic drop rumble elimination. Felt like it would hurt the most.
I did that a few times with hip tosses too
The subtle differences were awesome. 1-2-3 Kid punching super fast in the corner. Yokozuna being unliftable by the majority of the wrestlers...that stuff was an improvement over Royal Rumble. I really did like THAT element of it.

It never gets old. Listening to Razor Ramon theme music. 😃👍
This was one of my favorite wrestling games.. I can’t wait till you do No Mercy and WM2000. Great content man.
My favorite thing about this game is using a bucket to hit people. Really wish one day a company will bring back the bucket in a newer game as a nod to wwf raw.
Aahh the tin bucket... I hated that bucket
Great video! I think Quang was the hidden character because they didn't have to capture image a brand new wrestler, just slap on mask and bam you got Quangs model.
This is probably one of the most underrated wrestling games. I loved playing this on snes when I was a kid.

RANDOM TRIVIA: When Wrestlemania:The Arcade Game, Kevin Nash(Diesel)was supposed to have the end boss of the game, but a scheduling conflict on WWF(E)'s part caused Nash to miss that lil' time off

Bam Bam also does it. I assumed it was a programming glitch.
Theme music was always my favorite part of the LJN games.
I just bought a old snes system.. 1st game i bought was Raw!! Me and my brother also played Royal rumble and Raw for hours as a kid
Who knew LJN had playable games, huh?? Bart's Nightmare and a few WWF games and the first BTTF game.
This and Royal Rumble were my favorite games. Only thing it was missing was a story mode.

B and C for sega to pin (i think)
The Genesis version of RAW also used the 6 button
