Remarkable analysis. Fortunately - I read most of The Antichrist so saw the writing where Nietzche bemoans or mourns the Death of God, so great a being, if memory serves. The explanation of the state of the modern man very helpful and enlightening. I will say as an Evangelical with Faith - Being committed to that Faith - even though I can not prove it True - is an anchor to the soul and mind. I also believe the tenants of Christianity and the Old Testament Hebrew Scriptures have great value for society - Even if approached in a secular mindset as I believe Jordan always does. Thanks JBP Clips.
I ask after this video, what comes NEXT? Nietzsche saw the tumult we are still in, where will the resolution bring us, and how will it be reached? These are philosophical ladder steps for civilization, first stability, then disruption, then a somewhat more wizened stability. Which Niche Awaits the Greats?
This is what separates truth from tradition when it comes to belief in God. Most Bible-based religions for example, observe holidays and they don’t really know why but that’s a lot of things, people don’t know why they believe something, why they are doing some thing, why they’re saying something, they only know that they’re doing it for reasons that they think they know but they don’t really understand this is why most religion is false religion. These are definitely the days when we know far more than we understand and that’s very dangerous.
I also noticed with this learning deficit it takes me so hard to understand what I am being homeless teach and I can't tell the person teaching me get mad.
Praying the Holy Spirit will lead and guide you to all truth and you will become born again. You are such a precious lovely soul. "When you become a born-again Christian by believing the Gospel (accepting and receiving Christ alone to save your soul), you immediately become a child of God. Once you get saved, you are a permanent member of the heavenly family, and you can never be disowned for any reason. Even if you tried to return the gift of eternal life, it would be IMPOSSIBLE! If you ever hear anyone claiming that they “used to be a Christian,” it simply means that they once ascribed to the philosophy of Christianity, but they were never really born-again by the power of the Gospel (2nd Timothy 3:5)." - Hank Lindstrom
My life has been so hard with a learning deficit disorder makes it hard even today in my life when I'm trying to absorb new information at my job and I can tell it's making the boss man irritated I've been having this problem since child I wish I could have absorb information quick like everybody.
5:12 So when your articulated knowledge becomes out of sync with your dream like knowledge, it creates a sort of sickness of the spirit, and people tried to fix this by using religion which created bad outcomes? If I’m understanding this correctly I’m just wondering, so if religion doesn’t work, what should you do, to sync your articulated knowledge and your dream like knowledge?
From what I understand, when Nietzsche proclaimed "God is dead" it led to the idea that the moral framework which is centered on Christ has been removed in the continuity of the 19th century. Dr. Peterson didnt say that people in the past tried to fix this with the use of religion. We do, however, aimed to revise our thinking with the use of reason instead to deconstruct religion. In which, for them, has no basis on the natural world. So this is what he meant that when your beliefs becomes out of sync with your knowledge, then truly your belief is grounded on rituals but never really understanding them. I hope that clarifies it....
and to answer your question, one needs to examine their beliefs, not to just simply reject them per se, but to have a firm understanding of why we believe them.
@@dianeauza7163 I think your response "your beliefs are grounded in rituals..." is probably why I can't seem to accept the Catholic religion. I have absolutely nothing against Catholics, but according to the Bible, when Christ died, the curtain in the Jewish temple separating the outer part of the temple from the inner holy Sanctuary was torn open from top to bottom. This was to signify to the world that you no longer needed to go through the priests and rabbis to get to God. Now you could go directly through Jesus. In Catholicism, you have to go your local priest and give confession and he then doles out a penance. The local priest answers to someone higher, who answers to someone higher until you get to the Pope. That's a lot of levels of accountability. Seems much easier to pray to Jesus, ask for forgiveness of your sins and ask him to be your personal Lord and Savior and have Jesus himself intercede on your behalf. Just my thoughts.
...that's why I think that we - as a species - are still stuck in adolescence. On the surface, we call the process JBP described here "growing up", becoming "aware" or "conscious" for that matter. Of course, these concepts (as abstract concepts tend to do) include sooo many different layers of meaning and it's a challenge to untangle them, but that's what every single one of us needs to do - to the best of our abilities. Till that actually happens, we're gonna keep acting like spoiled brats, complaining and blaming instead of taking responsibility. #justmy2cents #nuffsaid

Dear dr Peterson, I noticed your grief when you refered to people you live whom you think will be thrown into hell fire after death. I hereby wish to guide your attention to the fact that that theology has been created by religeous leaders (for similar reasons as what you see in secular leaders today) and is NOT scriptural. God has revealed it to those who search for Him in this epog of truth and righteousness. We are dealing with a God of love who calls us to walk in love and do what He asks us to do; starting with His instructions in His Book in order to discover and hear Him. Be blessed.
Can somebody tell me how to spell the characters name in his example? Would love to look him up, but I can only think to spell it as "niche" lol Nvm. I got it lol. "Nietzsche"
'You may not know this, but I'm a fan of Neitzche'. You know what, Jordan. Believe it or not, I ascertained that a while ago. I'm not quite sure why exactly. I speculate it may have SOMETHING to do with the fact that you've mentioned him about 10 Trillion Times! You said something along the lines of 'a lot of put up Christmas Trees, but none of us know why'? Whatchu jivin' about, boy! We all know why or at least we all SHOULD know why. Once Constantine converted to Christianity, we saw The Roman Catholic Church slowly incorporate more and more Pagan elements into their theology in an attempt to convince The Pagans of Rome to join. So, they decided to incorporate Saturn alia which was a really popular Holiday at the time and The Germanic Pagan Holiday, Yule. People celebrating Yule historically brought Evergreen Trees in their house because they thought they had some 'Magical Quality' because they were the only trees that didn't lose their 'colour' in the 'dead of winter'. When you said 'The ritual lasts longer than the reasons that have been forgotten', I'm curious to know if you construe that as a 'good thing' or 'bad thing'. I construe it as 'bad'. When all meaning has been eviscerated, it's a 'dead ritual' for lack of a better word. Frankly, I think you're better off starting A new ritual with a new meaning. Your analogy of the person upset, but can't place their finger on why exactly they're upset. They invariably start crying and suddenly, like an epiphany they are aware of the reason. I saw you use a similar analogy with Sam Harris, seemingly to lend credence to your 'Non Materialistic' and possibly 'Cartesian Dualistic' beliefs. Sometimes there can be 'disconnects' between facets of The brain, which can completely explain this phenomenon. One example is 'Presquez-Vu'. The popular theory is that when were trying to remember a word or concept, the brain , in an effort to 'help' blocks out all similar words to your 'intuitive conception'. The only problem is, it also blocks out the precise word that you're trying to remember. We've all had Deja-Vu before. The theory that I find most plausible goes something like this... Sometimes, we have minor epileptic episodes in one region of the brain's neurons all 'fire' at once, rendering that section of The brain non functioning for one seceventSo, we gather visual stimuli with our eyes. The main centre for processing visual stimuli is The Occipital Lobe. But, it turns out that visual data also goes to the Amygdala and a small section which aids in visual data called The Techtum. Let's assume that you witness a sequence of 3 events... A, B, C. BUT when your Occipital Lobe receives 'A,B and C, it has a minor epileptic event which means that it processes 'C' 1 second after the Amygdala and Techtum. So... All data is transferred to the Conscious apart of The Brain. So... You say, I witnessed A, B.and then C, but because The Occipital Lobe received the signal late, your 'Conscious Mind' receives a SECOND 'C' right after. So your brain naturally asks 'Wait... Didn't this already happen'? That's a very likely explanation. Because we can experience so many types of 'disconnects' in the brain, I don't find your 'Crying and then remembering analogy to be impressive in the least. Perhaps it was merely due to a Physical Disconnect.
I am in need for someone to help me see something I believe in. Perceive outside world is in a sense a believe, but I am talking about believe as ability to fight conflict in order to find truth. So to fight something not exactly knowing what it is, hoping to be right, would qualify as believe. I know, I believe in love between equals, between two. But to fight someone who things two are the one is impossible. Because it is the one, in a sense, but while you are within that one you are not merged. I m so much tired of being killed as wrong part of self within the one. That's not love, that's lazy attitude. Aaaaaaaa!!!!
The Western World needs Christianity more than vice versa. Let’s say the Bible and their God exists, doesn’t that mean he would be the source of ultimate meaning, truth and reasoning? I love Mr. Peterson intellectual way to see Christianity but I always think it’s sad that he sees that more theoretical than a reality. Would love to see him someday have a dialogue with Ravi Zacharias. Two great minds, while the other one got it figured out what the fundament of this world is.
While I very much respect the intellect of Jordan Peterson, he sometimes lumps the entire world into one bucket - near the end of this clip he says something like the world learns how to put everything together which introduces ideologies such as organized religion. He says this is horrible and than he says Nietzsche predicted millions of people would die in the 20th century due to the ideology of the left. First, the millions of people who died were as a result of non-religious people - none of the big 3 believed in God - Hitler, Stalin, and Mao. Second, it was the Christian nation's love of God, people, and freedom that pushed back at that tyranny and stopped the genocide. While we didn't free the entire world right away, we freed enough to eventually get the USSR to eventually acquiesce to a certain amount of capitalism and freedom (until Putin pulled the reins in on some of the freedoms the Russian people started enjoying). China has remained under the thumb of an oppressive regime and look at the penalties the world is dealing with because of the actions of China. I think that Jordan is brilliant and I love the way his mind tries to think of everything, but a little faith in something bigger than ourselves is not a bad thing. I read a book titled "I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist", which was fantastic. If you can read that book and still firmly believe that a Creator doesn't exist, then I won't waste your time trying to get you to believe in God. Sombody/Something kickstarted the whole existence of this world. I am not smart enough to understand everything behind it, but I am smart enough to understand that we didn't just come to be - Somebody created us. I choose to call that Creator God and if God created us, there has to be a reason. Once again, not smart enough to figure out the reason, but willing to put my faith in God that He is much smarter than me and knows why we are here.
@@jisoolee5103 let's go through my comment: The first paragraph is about what I saw in the clip of Jordan Peterson. The second and third discuss the West's battle against Communism since World War II - I don't think anyone would dispute the success we had with toppling Communism in the USSR and helping it break up. When Boris Yeltsin resigned in 1999, by their Constitution, Putin became President of Russia. In China, Mao crushed any resistance that popped up during his time in power and starved his people, which resulted in the deaths of anywhere between 70 and 90 million people - the number of deaths varies based on what you reference. That happened, but didn't think I needed to go that deeply into the history of Communism. In paragraphs four and five, I do mention my opinion of Jordan and recommend a book. I also state that if you can read that book and still believe everything just spontaneously happened with no outside influence, then I will not try to persuade you otherwise - I think the book makes more of a compelling case than I ever could. And the sixth paragraph is totally my opinion about my belief in the existence of God. So, only a small portion was opinion-based: what my opinion is of how Jordan makes his cases in many of his videos and my belief in God. Half of what I talked about, regarding Communism, is factual. And finally, I started the whole thing mentioning something Jordan said in the video clip, which he did. So I don't see how there are no facts to support my thoughts and it has too much opinion and God-centric comments.
There is ALOT of Bric-a-brac cluttering up any belief system. But it is better than the structure-less nihilism that produces, maintains, and creates nothing - and is the zeitgeist of the Kali Yuga epoch of a civilization in decline and eventual downfall. Mankind has known poverty and struggle since its dawning and has struggled valiantly - many times - to climb out the muck. We're Very good at that. What humanity has not yet learned to cope with is how to survive the peace and plenty of luxus. . ...and thus the wheel of fortune turns. . What I am curious about is the relative immortality of the bureaucracy of the Catholic church that has remained intact for nearly 2 millennium and survives to this day; and how the Rothschilds Family has survived centuries without the shirt-sleeves to shirt sleeves in 3 generations family fortune phenomenon. Both are like HeLa cells in regards to the lifespan of sociological systems. .
The Catholic Faith is the only semi-scientific dogma that humanity has ever produced. Reading the Fathers of the early Church is so memorizing. Most religions that ever existed were just base on superstition; not the Catholic Church.
Lmao How much more ignorant can you people possibly be?

Instead I had a professor who talked about his bad heart and how he had to walk 5 miles a day to stay healthy due to his bad heart - thanks University of Maryland!!
We need professors who teach, not those who prattle on about nonsense and expect us to teach ourselves from the textbook they wrote and overcharged us for.

Nothing wrong with a little help and actively seeking it to improve oneself. Wisedom is found in these clips.
Instead of rebuking us for pursuing advice you should get your damn act together and care about your own progress.
We don't need people to cause more trouble. We need people to solve problems.
4:10 he makes such a great point about the mind and verbalizing vs acting out then understanding how to articulate what you already knew. 💡💡💡
Hoping for his full recovery, we need him so much!
It is because of FOOLS a WISE man sands out! Keep up the great work and ignore all the FOOLS!!!!
I hope that things will be better for you man...we need your wisdom.
Jordan Peterson, don't ever stop. You have raised sons you will never meet. But I for one will strive to prosper until I meet you
I think of Freud the same way, no matter what criticisms you may be able to level against him, his work gives you the way to transcend his personal limitations.
It’s hard to find someone who can take me this deep.
Thank you Dr. Peterson :)

Excellent lecture characterizing Nietzsche’s mind.
"The ritual lasts long after the reason has been forgotten."
"The rituals last long after the reasons have been forgotten"
Remarkable analysis. Fortunately - I read most of The Antichrist so saw the writing where Nietzche bemoans or mourns the Death of God, so great a being, if memory serves.
The explanation of the state of the modern man very helpful and enlightening.
I will say as an Evangelical with Faith - Being committed to that Faith - even though I can not prove it True - is an anchor to the soul and mind. I also believe the tenants of Christianity and the Old Testament Hebrew Scriptures have great value for society -
Even if approached in a secular mindset as I believe Jordan always does.
Thanks JBP Clips.
AT 4:10 , he says it ALL
I ask after this video, what comes NEXT?
Full link to this lecture anyone please and thank you !? May we all prosper in these times 🙏

+The ritual lasts long after the reasons have been forgotten."

Wow. That's a good one.
Good question
Follow your dreams
Like Abraham and Arron
Arron articulated what Abraham wanted to speak on Behalf of God
This part sounds like the "past authoring" instructions on his #selfauthoring program 4:35
It's a shame Nietzsche didn't go deeper into Eastern Orthodox Christianity. I suspect his enquiry would've been deeply fulfilled.
Not all of our integrated parts communicate well with one another.
...that's why I think that we - as a species - are still stuck in adolescence.

You know he's still recovering from basically almost dying right?
Dear dr Peterson,
I noticed your grief when you refered to people you live whom you think will be thrown into hell fire after death.
Be blessed.

Some days I swear, just briefly, I can smell wires burning. Mine, that is....d.

3:12, he's talking of Sam Harris.
no. listen again, Jordan is speaking directly about Nietzsche
Once again, not smart enough to figure out the reason, but willing to put my faith in God that He is much smarter than me and knows why we are here.
saintjay1968 im sorry but your writing is not very persuasive..
@@jisoolee5103 can you be more specific?
saintjay1968 many sentences are opinion-based and not fact-based, lot of assumptions and most importantly, blind faith towards religion.
@@jisoolee5103 let's go through my comment:
The first paragraph is about what I saw in the clip of Jordan Peterson.
What humanity has not yet learned to cope with is how to survive the peace and plenty of luxus.

...and thus the wheel of fortune turns.

Cristianity is not catolicism...😉

The Catholic Faith is the only semi-scientific dogma that humanity has ever produced. Reading the Fathers of the early Church is so memorizing. Most religions that ever existed were just base on superstition; not the Catholic Church.

How much more ignorant can you people possibly be?
Maybe some of you Westernerers will contemplate on why you condone (and many times, encourage) some vile, disgusting and abominable behaviours in society that was prohibited and even illegal in the past. Maybe then you'll consider rethinking your perspective on life (or lack thereof).
