@@lifewasgiventous1614 I think one of his points was we each need to honestly determine that for ourselves - that we have an inner utility designed to guide us in the proper direction.
I think where people run into trouble is when they are not honest with themselves. That can become easier and easier over time until we have chosen dishonestly so often that we can convince ourselves that any action, no matter how horrible, can be justified.
And, apparently, it can happen pretty fast, according to the book he mentioned about the German police going to Poland.
To say Peterson is well-read is an understatement. He has relied on, over time, his own inner compass to pull out of his readings the things that seem true to him.
      It can take a lifetime.
Until then, just stay out of prison. Johnny law and the system won't hesitate to let you know what they think is true.

I don’t agree with everything Peterson says. But no one should.
I watch him because the way he speaks is like he is constantly thinking out loud and trying to organize his thoughts to speech in a careful manner. Like a direct path to his thoughts.
There is a deep honesty in the way the man speaks that I think isn’t very common anymore. It’s the reason I think a lot of people are drawn to him and why he seems to do so well in debate. There isn’t anything hidden behind what he says, no sugar coated ulterior motives ever so present in discussion these days.

Yeah and he also esentialy invites you to critique these ideas. He shows what he came up with but if someone else's hypothesis seems better he will consider it. It was nicely visible during the debate he had about political correctness where he started with his take on that but after Stephen Fry spoke Peterson aligned himself with Fry because it looked like his take was just more fitting. I have huge admiration for him because of that. That's leadership, he shows that his approach is one of the correct ones by actively living it out and proving that it works, even though mistakes happen on the way. Best kind of motivation if you ask me.

Yeah he really does this. I saw him live in Manchester and during the q and a he just entered a deep thought state and was talking his thoughts out loud. It was so inspired. A magical moment where you realised you were in the presence of a great thinker. Dave Rubin closed the computer, the audience went completely silent - you could hear a pin drop. He started empathising with the theoretical person he was talking about and you could hear the pain in his voice and you could see people in the audience in awe and start crying. And then he finished and there was nothing more to say and he got a massive applause at the end and Dave ended the q and a because you couldn't really follow that.

Of the many JP videos I have watched so far, this is definitely one of my favorite. He talks here about burning parts of yourself that are dead as a vital step in the transformation process to become who you could be. I am right now in that process and it amazes how right he actually is about what he is saying. Being well articulated in your speech is one thing, but to be accurate in the smallest details is insane. I am blown away. Indeed I am finding out how much I actually LIE, about the painful process of letting those parts of yourself go that are not worthy, especially if it's almost your entire being that is pathological. I can very much relate to Dr Peterson. I am 27 and I have almost the same problems as he had when he was my age, like the lies for the sake of winning the argument. I have been trying to get my act together for the last 18 months or so now. It's been only one month however since I am doing it consciously. I have listened to my conscience, observed my thoughts and behaviors and identified all what needs to burn off through writing it all down. It's a LOT. And a LOT of work. And painful too. I realized I have been living a pathological life all this time. Tomorrow is the start of the second month of my transformation (18 April - 17 May). Wish me luck while in a few hours I descend into the underworld to confront the dragons. After observing and watching, it's now time to slay. ;)

I love listening to Jordan Peterson because he tells you things that you already know but he articulates it in such a way that he make it profound. I hear the 'voices' all the time. I know that there is the argumentative 'voice' which I came to understand, wants to make me unhappy and destroy me and there is the quiet, one word (usually), 'voice' which wants to protect me and keep me happy. I don't always listen to the quiet voice but the consequences are, without exception, always bad. I'm still learning and growing and alive. Without the full truth no problem can be completely solved. What I've learned is that IF an individual does not begin with a truth then what ever they build upon it will forever be lies.
It's an unfortunate fact but there it is.
If a person is made of more sturdy stuff then what they will do is work backwards to a truth but will realize very quickly they must change whatever they have built up in themselves on that first falsehood.

"There are no great men of God; only weak, pitiful men at the hands of a great and merciful God."
What we're seeing with JP is a manifestation of God's wisdom through a chosen vessel. When the world seems like it will tip over in one direction from an overwhelming amount of destructive stupidity and immorality, God declares, "Not so fast," because ultimately, the master will require an account of the stewards left in charge. JP is an indictment against the wisdom of this generation.
"He frustrates the devices of the crafty, So that their hands cannot carry out their plans. He catches the wise in their own craftiness, And the counsel of the cunning comes quickly upon them. They meet with darkness in the daytime, And grope at noontime as in the night. But He saves the needy from the sword, From the mouth of the mighty, And from their hand. Even with my very limited intelligence I can easily say Professor Peterson has wisdom far beyond his years. For everyone’s sake I dearly wish more would listen to him and learn!

i Find myself bearing deep witness to the truth he is saying. I can feel and recall exactly what he is talking about from my own experience, the truth sets you free but will burn the false away and that is dreadfully painful.

I love how even while he is super deep in thought and discussion, he is playing with his wedding ring.
Brilliant mind but can still see where his heart is.

Dr. Peterson: I know that my God is deeply and pridefully pleased by you and your work . The way you have acknowledged and defended The Logos shows deep
respect and discernment of it's (His) power. I recognize this because I have read and believe that in the beginning The Word ( Logos) was with God and The Word was a God (Jesus) and the written and Living Word have omniscience, omnipresence and power beyond mortal comprehension please keep drilling down and sharing your knowledge because millions of followers enjoy and are edified by your message.
...and in your personal and confidential journey(ies) do not forget Job from the Scriptures. No matter how confounding or distressing the circumstances....God will get you through and Love always wins and there is eternity to work it out and bring it to realization...Job was rewarded exponentially for his obedience and faith throughout surreal trials.
You Sir are Truly Blessed. ❤️....and I humbly thank you for sharing in order to bless us.
May your sword of verbal and written Truth remain unsheathed and recognized as a guiding beacon into enlightenment forevermore.

I'm recently coming out of a phase where I had to burn off what wasn't me. Even though doing so has set me freer than before, the experience of that letting go itself was extremely painful. I'm still to get a full grasp of what has happened. Regardless, this experience has shaken me to my bones to the point I'm afraid to get to that point again

"The truth is the way and the path of life ...I don't think you can manifest who you are without the truth. It's literally and metaphorically true. The pathway to who you could be, if you were completely who you were, is through the truth. The truth does set you free, but it destroys everything that isn't worthy in you as it sets you free. That is a process of burning. It's painful, because we cling to what we shouldn't be; partly out of pride, ignorance, or laziness." "Everything about you that isn't worthy, is to be put into the flames."

“Something has to happen to you to straighten you out” I’ve been through this in the form of a narcissistic relationship, I guess that was the universe teaching me a lesson, as if to say, pull your socks up and get real, both a blessing and a curse
