- ML GL R- class starts and dies after a few seconds??
Here’s why.
The wrong relay was inserted and it blew the ground on the fuse box.
This fuse box is in the engine bay and its called F58z
I hope this helps.

Wow! Brilliant information thanks mate, very much appreciated as Always! 😎👍
I found the problem, it's from the valve block, the cushions are good
Thanks , that is good info. I have an 03 E500 , just installed new compressor and went to replace the relay. New relay only has 4 pins, old one has 5, sounds like I need to reinstall the old one and go to the dealer to get the right replacement relay.
Don't have a GL but complex stuff anyway Lou. Thx!
Thanks! Bravo Lou... congrats.
Thank you so much! That is truly appreciated ❤️

Thank you!

Thanks Lou 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Where this fuse box located?
Engine bay
I've been watching quite a few of your videos, good stuff.
I'm thinking about getting a 2011 GL450 V8 (no mention if turbo) 110,000 miles. Are there any specific items I should know about it ? Youve made me less afraid of "airmatic" actually looks quite simple. My mechanic skills are very novice. I can do basic maintenance items. Not scared to try anything lol.
Should I run or seriously consider it for $12,995 ?
Have it inspected before buyin. Those cars were solid but over the years no one has taken care of them. If it was already “dealer” inspected then take it to another dealer or shop.
I want u to be my teacher always...
I have a 2013 S550 and I'm experiencing an issue where the right side keeps sagging. The suspension compressor stopped working, so I replaced it. However, the new compressor still doesn't turn on. I've checked the relays and confirmed there's power. My question is: if the valve block is malfunctioning, could it prevent the compressor from turning on at all, or should the compressor still activate regardless of the valve block's status? Essentially, I want to know if a faulty valve block can stop the compressor from even starting up.
Hey brother I swapped fuse box relay fuses… pump air compressor but car starts up but pump does not turn on its brand new.
Great video Lou. Forget electrical engineer, you should be a college professor. Lou on the test that you're talking about, where you pull the airmatic relay out and try to start the car, will it be a crank no start, or a no crank no start? My R class has a no crank no start problem.
No crank no start, if you have no crank no start at the moment then you may have bad starter
I replaced the compressor on my GL 500 including the relay. Days later, strange messages appeared on the display, LR malfunction - visit a workshop, airmatic malfunction, pre-safe not working. According to these reports, while we were on vacation last week, the engine went into emergency mode and hasn't started since yesterday. Could this all be due to the aftermarket relay??
It is a 2009 march Version of GL 500, 4MATIC
I read all these comments where people have questions and need help but this guy just ignores pretty much everyone. It's not like he has a bunch of subs and I understand why. Don't have a TH-cam channel if you don't want to help people. Especially claiming to be a mechanic. I've also read comments where people ask simple questions and he's a total wise ass. The only time he responds is when somebody is giving him a compliment. I suppose he has a channel to stroke his small ego. Some people's kids.
Hi,I have an S Class 2007 W221 320 CDI and I have 20 km to work and after 10 km the rear axle completely to earth and and error in the dashboard malfunction and an arrow up
Hello, sorry to hear of your troubles.
My air suspension video explains what needs done and most possible solutions. Thanks. Lou
Thanks for info i did get one from Mercedes dealer OEM with 5 prong but i have problem with airmatic 40A fuse burn after 30 min driving car why is burn the fuse. When i install new fuse working fine for 30-45 min then burn again !
Bad compressor or poor connections at compressor
Actually I know you just said you got a dealer relay, but be sure you installed it in the correct position. We have relays that will burn contacts and stick closed causing the compressor to run till
It seizes and blows the fuse. So the issue is either the relay, or the compressor or connection to it.
So, how do you remove the strap and solder in a replacement?
Its not a strap its a path in the circuit board. You’d have to solder in wire to each contact the ground “strap” touches.
does this effect airmatic in a 08 e550?
Only the cars I mentioned specifically
It's a bentley it won't start with smart key and it won't lock in. Can you tell me what the problem is?
No I cannot. Sorry
yes. You need to jack up the license plate and slide a new car under it.
can you solder the ground strap to repair it?
yeah I have seen people do that. but in my channel I dont want to steer down that direction, I choose to replace things rather then fix them as you never know what other issues you can create. I am not saying my way is the only way, but in my channel i want to teach the proper way of doing things. I hope you can understand.
@@MasterTechLou i understand. I was a mb dealer tech for many years. on my own since 08
So can the fuse box be replaced with the newer style of you have the older style? Or does it have to be replaced with the older style?
Awesome video,Lou. We produce LEDs for auto. And we wanna invite you to do a review video for our product. Is there any way to reach out to you.
Thank you I appreciated that. Sorry I barely have time for the reviews that I do for products to help people diagnose and work on cars. I dont think thats a good fit for me or my channel as I’m not trying to sell products. Im tryin to help educate on how things work to help make purchasing decisions easier. Im going to eventually get away from product reviews and more into how to’s and tips and tricks.
