I'm not sure, I too found an entrance to a cellar to this gaff back in the 1970's. Me and my mates found an entrance similar to this but it was back filled so could only get into about 12 ft. I'm guessing there are other ways in, but I reckon you found the best. We did loads of this stuff back then, we lived near Greenbank Park, there where loads of abandoned massive houses ripe to explore. We where good lads, never vandalised just explored, just wished I had a camera back then, some of those places where special.

When we first moved to runcorn in 1970 there was a much smaller version of this in the small wood next to Norton priory school. I think it was the ice house for the mansion built on the site of the original priory. Thanks another great vid

Love the scouse accents… remember when I was a lad I was in Lewis with my dad and I saw the little book “Lern Yerself Scouse” … haha and when you mentioned the chairs I was thinking of a line in that book and phrase was “Wurz the churzz” .. TRANSLATION (in a posh voice) “where are the chairs” … haha such a funny book… another phrase “E dun a puddin in iz kecks” TRANSLATION “ He has deffacated in his trousers” haha

We used to go down there as kids back in the 1970s.The entrance was bigger and easier to get in back then (but then again I was a smallish boy)and there was less crap down there. I think there may have been away in from the cafe in those days as well.

Hi guys, just found this video. Just past the cafe is/was a cobbled road leading to the old coach house to the main house. It became derelict and the council? eventually pulled it down in the 80's. Also up the stone steps by the cafe was a couple lawn bowling greens or tennis courts which had a shelter build in it. Now abandoned. Going up towards the main road just under the railway bridge was a stairs leading to the house (old station) another commentator mentioned. Plus on that banking there was a couple tunnels you could get into. Whether or not they connected to the old mansion i dont know. At the time I wasn't that interested in local history as I am today. Your vid has given me new ideas. Cheers DougT (not in L/pool any more) Edit: the lake which was in front of the cafe (now no longer there) is the reason that field appears sunken and i understand it was fed by the overflow from Sefton Park lake via brick tunnels/culverts. Maybe thats why there is/was a sort of open running water course on the left of the railway bridge? Apologies if you've covered this in other posts.

I remember a huge derelict house that wasn't demolished until 1970's. It was by the bus stop and car tyre place. It was a mystery to me, who once owned it and how it fell into such a sorry state. By the way, great name, my name is John Toohey and my family are from Liverpool 8.

Hi just found your video me and my friends found this about 6 years ago and we went down and that same hammer was there!! Creeped us out there was also a black mask. As we kept exploring more we came across an old ilford camera! And all the tape strewn across the tunnel bit. I wanted to get it developed but it had already come into contact with the sunlight. I still have the camera as I wanted to reunite it with the owner all his details are on it but it’s from 1965!! And he was from Southampton😳
