    I love the Loon tool kit! I have pretty big paws and the larger sized tools are great. The only knock I have against it is the bobbin makes a squeaky sound every once in awhile while i'm tying. However, I believe they've addressed this issue by using brass spool bearings on the new version. Great stuff and an awesome value.

    I bought some Loon hemostats for like $26 pre-Covid and those were so garbage that I have a hard time thinking about buying more Loon stuff but the kit looks like it could be ok.

    • @Madriveroutfitters

      That looks like a Regal vise, which is usually what Brian uses. Feel free to contact him at the shop for confirmation though. He'll be happy to help and confirm.

    New to fly tying and going through beginners challenges. I'm breaking thread, a lot. I spin the bobbin to add twists but even when I'm not putting much pressure on the tread it breaks at the bobbin. I'm wondering if my bobbin has a burr in it. Any suggestions? By the way I really like your videos.

    Too large, too heavy, especially the bobbin holder. ABS plastic 1/2 balls that hold the spool squeak with certain spool types. Too much flex in the Bodkin needle. Paint will chip over time; should have been unfinished SS or aluminum or even anodized Loon yellow. Should have asked for input on finished design before producing. Some like to think they know it all, but they don’t. Not a bad kit for someone starting out if they haven’t already worked with the best tools on the market to compare them to.

      Bet you’re fun at parties! 😏

    • @Madriveroutfitters
      @Madriveroutfitters  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pretty much nothing......nothing true in this response.....except that it’s a pretty good kit. “Some like to think that they know it all, but they don’t.”- You proved that right here for the world to see. Nice work! 👍

  • @flytyer2368
    @flytyer2368 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Their too bulky, heavy and the bobbin holder feels terrible in the hand. I also don’t like the painted finish, it chips. Should have been anodized.

      Please send an email with your name, address and a note. This response deserves a free hat and fly box. He’ll we might just send along one of these Loon tying tool kits. All chipped up, heavy and uncomfortable.....but free. We’ll tell Brian to look for the email.
