Flip Pallot is fly fishing present and past. They just dont make guys like him anymore. He is a humble genius of fly fishing.
Agreed! Thanks for watching.
Laughing out when Flip took the fly back from Brian at the end. Of course Flip let Brian have the fly in the end, but the look on Brian’s face was great.
Thanks for watching! They work pretty well together.
Yeah I loved that moment too. Flip looks like a cool guy :)
That soft chuckle just before Flip says “I’m really not a fly tier “…. Epic for sure, just can’t get enough of Brian and Flip together 😎
Thanks for watching!!!
Hi there! This was a really great video. Watching the king teach the prince a thing he uses as therapy. Is perhaps the essence of fishing and fly tying. This gave me new inspiration and faith in catching fish in the future. The fly should be called "wing-it"
Thanks for being here and thanks for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed.
"You can't have it."
"Well, in that case, you can have it."
Brian has it on his desk at work! Thanks for watching.
Great video Brian. Really appreciate this channel.
Thanks for being here.
Two great men, and Flip is just amazing to bad there are not more like him👍
Thanks for watching.
👏👏👏 Well done Brian - history, relevance, and a bunch of camaraderie in this one. YOU sir are now one my fishing hero's also! New supporter and fan here.
Thanks for being here and please stay tuned. More to come with Flip!
Flip is a national treasure. His voice captivated me while viewing his television series, "The Walkers Cay Chronicles." Flip is to us as fisherman, what Edward VerHalen was to guitar players. I'll be very sad when he exists earth
Thanks for being here.
I first learned fly tying in the late 60s, and all my whip finishes are all manual! Don’t own a whip finishing tool.
What kind of hook did he use and what size?
Sorry but we don't have that information here. You'd have to check with Brian directly and he may know? You can e-mail him or call him at the shop. Thanks.
He always says it’s like butter so about the pallet butter fly
Thanks for watching. We'll see what Flip thinks of that.
Looking at the hands and eyes of this man, you can see the years of experience and skill. what a treat.
Thanks for watching!
Makes ya wonder what else those hands are skilled at…
Did ya ever named the fly
I met Flip in my state of Maine 20 years ago and he autographed my fly vest with a Sharpie. I still have the vest, but unfortunately his autograph has bleached out from the sun.
Great guy, love to see him. I loved his original episodes of fly fishing.
Thanks for watching. Flip is one of the greats for sure!
It's kind of gold in color so it's got to be the "Eldorado" or maybe "Flip's Eldorado". As far as that vice goes I've got one that was either my dad's or maybe my granddad's that looks very similar but without the Renzetti modification. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
Thanks for watching!!
I could listen to him tell stories and tie flies for hours. Would be like learning from a grandpa or great uncle. Priceless.
SUBSCRIBED!! 👍
Thanks for watching and being a part of what we do.
How about the Flip Flop fly!
We'll pass it on to him! Thanks for being here.
Yeah tell him if he doesn't do it no more peanut brittle!@@Madriveroutfitters
How about a “ Flipanator “ fly.
Will pass along! Thanks for watching.
Thank you very much for the video Brian miss seeing flip on TV
Thanks for watching. We all do...but at least we have him here.
What an awesome little tie! How about the peacock lizard for a name?
Will pass along. Thanks for watching.
I had a dream about being is this huge mall and saw a rack of fly fishing vests and boxes . Guess who was working there flip pallot lol. Such a weird dream .
Weird indeed! Thanks for watching.
That hand whip finish he did was in one of Joan Wulff's old fly fishing books. I taught myself to do it using her illustrations back in the 80's when I was in high school. I wonder if he learned it from her?
Awesome catch. Thanks for being here!
Since it looks like a pheasant at first glance I’d call it “the cackler” or “the Flipping Pheasant” as it flips in the water and was made by the legend himself
Thanks for watching.
Great video. Brian's expression was priceless when Flip took the fly back.
Thanks for watching!!
Some of my best catches were caught on flies that i just winged it on because they just looked cool.
As it should be! Thanks for watching!!
I’ll throw in my name suggestion for the fly. I’ll call it the “ Tasty Pallot”
Thanks for the suggestion and for watching!
may by the name of this fly will by "Flip fingerlin", surely...Thank´s a lot
Thanks for watching.
Flip a legend thanks for everything great video.
@@jasonerickson1033 He sure is and thanks for watching.
I'd never fish that fly. It would go into a glass case and sit on my coffee table.
It’s on display at the shop!
Call it “The Flippen Lefty” and hello Flip from Titusville, Fl.
Thanks for watching.
IF you did not name it the "Flip Wingit" you missed your opportunity.
He may have....not sure yet. He doesn't miss many opportunities though.
Ahhhh! A dollop of sycophantic hero worship to start the morning.
Thanks for watching.
That was a treat ,and great fly I'm gona try acouple 👍✌️
Thanks for watching!
That fly should be called the Frigate in a dark rum color.
Good one! Thanks for watching.
Can anyone ID the platform/caddy/whatchamajigga on Flip's vise stem?
Yes! A tippet spool!
@@Madriveroutfitters Right below that the blue thing his sticks the scissors into
I can’t believe this popped up in my feed tonight. Been exploring fly tying videos so the magic of TH-cam probably loaded this for me. But I just had to comment and ask a question being my first time on your channel. I saw the Ohio Gazeteer behind you, are you in the vicinity of Springfield, Ohio? Seems like a lifetime ago when I was at Wright-Pat, but I was into whitewater kayaking and had yet to pick up a fly rod. Yes, I know, I missed a bunch of smallmouth from there, the Little Miami, etc……if I have the correct Mad River.
My comment concerns Flip. Gee, I loved Walker’s Cay Chronicles and I could listen to Flip all day. I couldn’t wait for Sunday mornings to watch the entire lineup, but even my wife would watch Flip. Especially the episodes with his wife (was it Diane?). Gee, to see him in this short video made my day….and more. Thank you for sharing this. And even his sense of humor taking the fly back from you, to me that was classic Flip. And yes, it also makes me miss Lefty……. Their videos together, you could tell they were more than friends. Sorry for going down that path….but you brought back a flood of memories. Thank you.
Thanks for watching. Tons more with Flip on the channel. The shop is located in Columbus, Ohio. Full details and link in the video description.
@@MadriveroutfittersI realized you had the google map links to your shop ……after I posted my comment. Gee, will try to read all the notes next time. Guess I got excited about seeing a video with Flip.
Legend, thanks MRO.
Truly. Our honor to have him here. Thanks for watching.
I think he already named it
Bad ass little fly
Exactly. We call it the BALF for short.
Can you give us the hook manufacturer ?
Gamakatsu?
Flip fly no doubt.
No doubt. Thanks for watching.
You should call that fly the flip Pallot flicker
Good one!
Flip....best name for this fly
Thanks for watching.
Name of the fly should be " Not a game changer"
There you go…..Perfect!
hahahahahahahaahahahahahah this was great!!!!
Appreciate you watching.
Are you taking suggestions on that fly name? I vote....." The drunk fat girl"
Thanks for watching....but we'll pass on that one. Appreciate the input though.
@@Madriveroutfitters I've got boxes full (might not be the prettiest but they'll get the job done.) 😂.
Enjoyable content as always thanks for sharing
New fly name…. The Flipped Off!
Not bad at all. Will pass along. Thanks for being here.
i have a new favorite person
@@22FTA Thanks for watching!
Snatched it say nope ya can’t have it 😂
Brian now has the fly proudly displayed in his office! Thanks for watching.
Flip's just a cool m-fer
He certainly is. Thanks for watching.
Had the privilege of doing a fly tying demo with Flip several years ago. Understand being nervous! Lol was a highlight of my fly tying days. Thanks for sharing!
Gave him one of my popper jigs, he refused it,,,,, chuckled,,, then handed me a pen and said, "only if you sign it" lol super cool experience for me! Thanks again!
Gary Krebs
Thanks for being here!
Great video captured for the history books. I think a name like "Flip Pallot's Schminnow Varient" would be an ideal name.
Thanks for being here.
I’d call it Flip-it
Good one! Thanks for watching.
😀I would call it "Mim's Flip-It". Being that it was tied in Mims FL and Flip is the tyer and when it lands it rolls over hook point up! My name is Jake Finn and I'm from Dade County Florida.
Thanks for watching.
Call it the "Pallot Jack"..!
Thanks for watching. Will pass along.
Great Brian been watching & reading about Flip Pallot over 40 years name how about " Pallot's Catcher " thanks for sharing this historic vid .
Thanks for watching.
I can’t believe I just found this video, having flip tying and knowing that if he said he makes these and uses them it’s 100% going to catch fish ! You can almost guarantee that Brian’s putting that fly in a frame on the wall ! 👍🏼
Thanks for watching. It’s on the wall in his office at the shop.
Thank you! I just met an amazing 84yr old young man (who has been fly fishing since he was 12) this last weekend on the north fork of the John Day! He was catching em up!!!!! Wise time spent!!!
Thanks for watching.
The "Inline Hooks" aka: (treble hook replacement hooks) are made by: Mustad, Owner and VMC.
Thanks for watching and thanks for sharing.
The pallot nymph!!!!!!
Stay tuned.
Tie'n flys is enjoyable,, unless it's after dinner and you are guiding 2 at 0500 tomorrow
Thanks for watching.
As a devoted follower and fan, I must say this with love. I can't stand the "hold on, here we go" teaser intro format. It doesn't feel authentic. Otherwise a great video as always.
Thanks for watching and thanks for sharing. Will pass along. That is a "Flip line" so pretty authentic in that respect.
Thank You Brian. Wonderful to watch Flip actually tie the fly the way he ties for himself..... Very Special fly he gave you and I doubt it will ever see the water 👍
Thanks for watching.
Hi from Australia. Thanks for another great video of Flip and yourself. Always learn something new. warm regards Gary
Thanks so much for being here! We appreciate it.
The Flip-a-dee-doo-dah!
Not bad!
Mimms Florida! Small world my Aunt and Uncle used to live there!😏
Thanks for watching.
Just wooow there is decades and decades of knowledge and RND trial and error of fishing longer then I’ve been alive this knowledge needs to be recorded and saved for the future of fishing just makes me want to learn more so I can pass it on to the younger one just makes me love fishing more
Thanks for being here.
Great Video, enjoyed watching Flip tying a fly. I use to watch his shows back in the eighties. Thank you Brian.
Thanks for watching.
Great video Brian and Flip. For a name how about Flip-in Lefty Fly. Keep the coming.
Thanks for watching.
Thank you for the wonderful vid. Will you be following up on where one can get that hook mentioned in the video? Cheers!
Thanks for watching. Will make sure that Brian follows up on that.
Really enjoyed the video ! So great to see one of the legends in the fishing world still going at it. I still think a lot of him from back in the days of Walkers Cay.
Thanks for being here. He’s still going at it for sure.
really cool video, tanks for sharing! I have learned a ton from you guys over the last couple years!
Thanks for watching.
I would call the fly "Eyewinder". Inline hook is made by Decoy.
Thanks for being here and thanks for sharing. Will pass that along to Brian and Flip.
Just a Flip Fly (JAFF).. thank you for sharing..
Thanks for watching.
Nice
Thanks for watching.
That squeak to bleep seemed so absolutely perfect for flip.
Thanks for watching.
I will second the the name "Flip's Eldorado" its a great fit for what he tied.
Certainly in the lead right now! Thanks for watching.
What a privilege to get to see Flip tie that fly! Loved this video. How about the Pallot-Eyes fly.
Thanks for watching!!!!
What is the dark grey tray around his vise?
Sorry but don’t have the answer here. Possibly email or call Brian and he may know?
@@Madriveroutfitters found the answer it’s the TyWheel.

@@Madriveroutfitters great thanks you are welcome. I live in Scotland but have fished for bonefish in Venezuela a couple of times and used all knowledge learned from Flip and his Chronicles
Flip gives me hope for my fly tying.
Thanks for watching.
How about the Flipside?
Sounds good! Will pass that one along.
I would love to try that on sea run cutts in WA.
Thanks for watching.
Yeah, "I'm not a good fly tyer".
Ties an amazingly effective looking fly😉
Thanks for watching. The flies he does tie are certainly effective.
@@Madriveroutfitters That fly looks like it will catch fish for absolute sure.
I will definitely try it out this season.
