There’s actually studies done on this topic, todays DA polishers cut much faster than a rotary as they are more efficient and have massive orbits compared to 20-30 years ago when the orbit was like 8mm. DIY Details 25mm orbit polisher or even the Rupes 21, would cut much much faster than any rotary
While this may be true one thing that is a plus for rotary is that it's way cheaper than a rupes. I bought a drill master rotary recommended by Apex detail and I go ham with it. I work at Honda as a detailer and the rupes performs great too but I don't have that kind of money for a 21mm rupes 😅
Intersting that you say this as many.other professional detailers do agree. What's interesting is that people like Ivan Lacroix state the opposite. He says DA, especially the longer throw polishers, is for cutting. It cuts faster than a r Rotarty. He says Rotary is better for finishing. Go figure.
It all depends. I’ve had paint that got cut better with DA with rotary as a finish and also the other way around. I’d say always test before doing the whole car. Different paints work differently. We know this.
I can't believe this bullshit keeps coming up or is even relevant in 2024.. Use whatever machine polisher you like and you're comfortable with...it makes no fucking difference as long as your getting the finish you want.. I was detailing back in the 80's when all we had was a big ass rotary and a choise of two different lambswool pads and now we have orbital polishers and both complement each other...it's time to move on..
As a honda detailer he's not wrong I paint correct at My and the rotary wastes no time cutting really good. DA req like 3-4 passes to achieve the same so no seems like you're a sellout for the DA industry

@@dailysmentertainment5359you work at a Honda dealership? The Honda dealerships her do scratch and wash details.
@@dailysmentertainment5359shut up
@@dailysmentertainment5359 there's a lot better AND cheaper brands than Rupes..people only buy Rupes because of the name.
DA's weren't around 30 years ago.
I love all polishing machines cheap to expensive large to small DA or rotating.... all have a use
so ur saying white wool pad and rotary at 3500 rpm on car paint. got it
Don’t be soft…. scotch pad 3500 rpm no compound 🤌🏾🤌🏾
ill just use a grinder thank you very much
🤣🤣oops ... Just take it up with my business insurance
40 years with my rotary...I'm loyal to what I know and love.

I have both
I came to the comments to see how the real experts think it should be done. Was a good laugh 😂
I’ve never used a da polisher, only rotary. How do I keep the rotary from throwing compound everywhere?
Use a rotary if you know what you're doing, if not, use a DA, less chance of burning through edges.
What does “cut the paint “mean?
Which wool pad do you use
What about a forced rotation DA? Seems like the best of both worlds
Waste of money is what they are.
@@grtu4252 I disagree. I have one. Cuts way faster than a DA and finishes better than a rotary
so why does it cut more?
I cut faster with a rotary and use a DA to get the swirls out, time is money in paint correction
I never seen Chemical guys using a rotary at all.
You’re not realizing this is bad advice for the people who go in all which directions swirling the paint with too much heat!
Yeah, so use a rotary
Sigh

Why?

You're calling it a buffer means you don't know what you're talking about.
