Don't Starve really feels something from the 2013, like I remember seeing vaguely the final scene where Maxwell dies and Wilson replaces him. Like, not only the game is unnerving sometimes, but you end forever in a chair, all you effort was for nothing and you were stuck. If that was the only thing I saw about Don't Starve, that would be UNNERVING. I know this isnt particularly spooky, but something thats always disturbed me is the fact that all the people in the constant are trapped there (except for wortox, wagstaff and the constant natives, I'm not talkng about them,), doomed to an endless cycle of dying and coming back. No way out, no way home, no way to see the people they love again. Especially the fact that there are children in there...
The only creature that is most terrifying is the stage hand. They always caught you off guard when you are all alone in the dark with light, and comes to you with a creepy music box theme.
I'm scared of weeping angels and my first impression of them are weeping angels active at night. I know they aren't but I still view them that way subconsciously. They horrify me
You forgot the terrors of dst. A Willow igniting every boss so you take damage the whole time. A webber making an army just to go afk or off so all spiders become hostile in base. Or a Wendy creating a huge spiderfarm right outside of base and ragequits, leaving the rest alone with a lagmonster that nobody can handle.
@@samuelbarros1563 Well, i mean Wes can be a decent charater in the right hands. And if you play your cards right, your base will overflow and rot food faster than even a wes can eat. But yeah, only IF he is in the right hands.
I have always been terrified by Mr. Skitts. Idk why, but seeing him makes me feel like my sanity is lower than it is (he appears at like 7/8 sanity) and i end up stressing that I'll start seeing terrorbeaks soon.

for me, moon mutants are really unnerving, especially since i used to have sometimes similar nightmares, BEFORE lunar island was even added. also the more i look at that penguin from moon the more i regret it, definition of abomination...
That's real creepy... For me the moon mutants unnerve me for how they appeared one day. Like, just one patch and suddenly we had body horror in the game. Was something I NEVER expected, and was super glad to see them expand upon with the brightshade bosses :D

Thank you so much! I'm glad I was able to make a relatively un-scary game slightly spooky. And that would be a super cool idea! From the games cartoony style it's easy to discount it all as silly, but if it was a real case of shadow monsters, evil dogs and massive fish-people... yeah it'd be a bit different :)

truthfully ive always found the atmosphere of DS/DST in general the sorta Tim Burton type of unsettling and creepy, admittedly its part of why most of my personal experience with the game is via Shipwrecked because it keeps all the good survival elements and culls back some of the spooky nature. honestly kinda wish sometimes the game leaned on the wilderness survival side of the game a bit more, imagine if instead of making a crockpot right away progression wise to start doing basic cooking you needed a potters wheel to make a pot like from the Gorge, taking more time and needing to be placed over a fueled fire, leave something finished too long and it'll go to waste turning into useless slop, needing a ruins/archive blueprint or something to make the current crockpot (something like this would likely never happen because it turns cooking on its head entirely.). obviously i know a whole lot less about DST than i do SW so even just exploring the caves or areas like the swamp, hell even just ocean exploration in general is an unnerving prospect since i play DST the same way I'd play DS, entirely by myself. but hey who needs to pick a game for spooky season when amongst your forever games is a spooky game you already like.
