I think Warly is actually the best when it comes to beefalo. For 1 the guy starts with a crock pot so keeping the hunger levels of the beefalo up with steamed twigs is super easy. Warly can also feed spiced dishes to beefalo and the beefalo get the effects. This means before a fight you can feed your beefalo garlic and pepper spice to makes its damage higher and essentially give it over 300 more health. If Warly eats bolt goat jelly, the beefalo will get the electric damage still, and finally you can put salt spice on beefalo treats to allow each one to give your beefalo 750 health back. You can easily kill every boss in the game as Warly using a beefalo (except crab king, malbatross, and ancient fuelweaver)
I tested the fuelweaver fight before and Warly can 100% win the fight with a beefalo, you only need the right setup: a wet fuelweaver, voltgoat jelly, warly spices and a lot of weather pains, the same thing with malbatross, you only need to tank that darn chicken
The best thing about taming Beefalos is that it improves on characters weaknesses. Examples are. @luciferous277 I main both, and I think maxwell is actually better with beefalo than wendy. Not only do his shadow servants allow you to be able to mine and chop without having to dismount, but with all of the fuelweaver gear equipped(bone helm, bone armor, and shadow thurible) and an ornery war saddled beefalo, you actually out damage wolfgang, something even wendy can't do.
@luciferous277 sure wendy is a pretty close second when it comes to beefalo combat, but I still wouldn't say she's equal to maxwell. Uhh, I hope you find some epic Wigfrids who have that skill unlocked. I feel like it's valid to farm resources yourself and find a Wigfrid who can make the battle saddle on runs. I for one always have the saddle perk active in case of people like you wanting that.
I am not sure if this is a glitch or done on-purpose, but I’ve noticed that when I play Wigfrid on a Beefalo, I actually do still get the life-steal and sanity regen. Just thought I’d let everybody know. I still think it doesn’t make too much sense for wigfrid to use a tamed beef as she is more capable of dealing with enemies on her own
If I can add one thing for beefalo it would be more saddle types! The Battle Saddle is cool but unfortunately redundant in the face of the War Saddle. It’d be cool if there was a storage type saddle that is about War Saddle speed, great for ferrying huge loot hauls home. I also would kill for a saddle that makes the rider immune to knockback from the newer bosses. It would make Beefalo a somewhat viable pick for them, as currently if you try to fight even Nightmare Werepig on a beef you’re effectively giving it a death sentence
beefalo are really only good for the speedboost outside of maxwell, wes, and wendy having a rider beefalo means having a universal speed boost faster than 3 speed circuit wx78, which is extremely useful for any sort of transportation however, imo ornery beefalo don't do enough damage to be useful, not when hambats (and pretty much any weapon) can accomplish what ornery beefalo can do but significantly better also beefalo are barely impacted by any of the planar formulas, its more of a skill issue getting hit by knockback attacks (not exclusive to any planar enemy and more a risk you choose to make by fighting a knockback afflicting enemy on beefalo)
I love beefs and taming them. Yes it's pain in the ass, especially the early bits, but there's just something about getting your own beefy companion that makes it so endearing to me. However, I do agree that they should maybe add a new functionality to the bell that just makes the beef be considere a player or something, so other players and even yourself cannot hit it by accident. Or at least reduce the amount of domestication loss per hit from something like 20% to like 2 - 5% at most. It's still a useful mechanic to have when you wanna retrain your beefalo from rider to ornery to vice-versa for example, but a lot of the times it just griefs you. And adding some way to revive them or just flat out make them respawn (at least if fully tamed) would be absolutely great. Im not really familiar with the games current endgame or why exactly are they bad at it rn, but having some ways to address that as well would be absolutely welcome.
For me it's too much micromanagement for limited benefits. I *think* bosses deal 4x damage to ridden beefalo, and most monsters are easy to kite (on low latency) anyways. Dark swords are cheap to make and don't take much inventory to craft on-demand. A cane and magi are easy to nab, and my magi won't buck me off for not counting the seconds since equipping it. I considered using a beefalo for the moon altars, but a day wasted on carrying the pieces wasn't so bad and I think I still saved time not having used a beefalo. The biggest benefit of beefalo to me is that I can save tons of inventory and haul a ruins worth of stuff wherever I need it, but I don't hoard items and can usually survive with just the default inventory. I also tend to play power characters like Wolfgang or Wigfrid, but so long as my damage is up to par with a wilson, I feel no incentive to ride a beefalo.
Beefalo take the same amount of damage as a player would while being ridden. Also, a fully tamed beefalo will let you ride it for up to 1 and a half in-game days(13 minutes and 20 seconds) without bucking you off, so that issue becomes non-existent once it is fully tamed.
Beefalo speed boost is greater than that of walking cane + mag and you can get it earlier than either ofthose. You also don't have to sacrifice your chest slot for a 20% speed boost and can use it for a piggy back instead. I have found beefalo to be very effective for combat oriented characters. What they usually are missing is a movement speed multiplier. A rider gives them just that. And of course, there are other perks you get, like more inventory through a piggy back, being able to hold your lantern while moving at max speed, and having a meat shield for when you don't want to fight. Wigfrid also comes with permanent inspiration, so you can always have a battle song on.
Well that's a much better deal then. I was under the impression the max buck timer was maybe 90 Seconds or less. I'm still not sure it's worth the effort to fully tame a beefalo, but being bucked off constantly was probably my biggest concern and now I know better. Thank you.
@@Kampfpumpernickel Well beefalo attacks override the rider's, right? Ornery beefalos and war saddles take time, so day one, even if you land an extra 1 or 2 hits using a beefalo compared to your melee, the dps seems pretty low compared to a dark sword. Of course, you're not going to have a dark sword day one either, but I rush ruins so I won't be fighting for my first 5 days either way and by then I'll usually have a sword. Once the beefalo tames then I concede, beefalo are definitely better. For Wigfrid I think it takes getting a war saddle before the damage becomes worthwhile and waiting for steel wool is a pain. If I were a better player I could have a charged elding spear by then, but even so beefalo would still provide a speed boost, and as Omar explained the buck timer isn't so bad so I'm more open to the idea just for the extra movement speed.
@@circledline3880 Yes, you can't use meele attacks while on a beefalo. It doesn't really matter though, as you'll deal spear damage, which is enough for most every day fights. It's enough against AG and seasonal bosses and you'll just fight any stronger boss using a ham bat until you fully tame your beefalo. Not having to worry about armor or your weapon also makes animation canceling easier. Dps really isn't an issue when taming an ornery beefalo. You aren't going to fight a lot while on your beefalo as Wigfrid, so you don't need any damage or defense boosting saddle as her. Tame a rider for the speed boost and do the fighting yourself. Beefalos can't keep up with a 1.25x damage multiplier but they can give lots of speed and convenience.
Everyone can use beef. Their speed is worth taming them even as fighting characters. As wigfrid i rush storms, and most of the time pearl and lunar are so far, and also i need to craft everything in 1 go before day 11 so piggyback is important. Even as wolfgang its useful cuz having to hold cane instead of dumbell means a lot more mighty drain
Wendy is best character for beefalo since abigail increases damage done and beefalo nullifies Wendy's inherent damage modifier to the point that ornery beefalo with a war saddle will do 102 damage iirc
"Beefalo rider" feels like a seperate character that has great stats but is ultimately not very engaging to play. It makes all characters too uniform imo
If this was on the forums there'd be like a dozen people saying its not OP, or just swap characters, or some other non-advice that avoids discussing the subject. Anyway, 1000 health may sound big compared to most characters like 150 or 200, but it is unmitigated in a game with bosses that have 100+ damage attacks before the janky planar damage, so 10 hits, and in some cases like with celestial champions phase 2 10 hits goes by real quick. And it doesn't stop ranged damage like Mac Tusks darts or clockwork bishop projectiles.
Getting regular Beefalo isn't as hard as JustExo said it would be. in fact, it is actually pretty easy to get it. The simple thing you need to do is just: Feed them every time they are hungry until they are full, ride them alot, use them on battles. Once you get the hang of it, making it turn into any other type of beefalo will also become easy. Pudgy: - Hang around the base more often and do your base duties while feeding your beefalo. Ornery: - do more hunts, ruin rushing, etc (anything that involves fighting). the more damage your beefalo receives, the faster it is for them to become ornery Rider: - Do more gathering, transport, etc. also, Steamed twigs are the best to feed beefalo until they are full. lightbulbs are best to max out the beefalo's Obedience, while twigs can be used for both obedience and hunger. Oh and also Blue Caps for beefalo heals them by 80, so if you are fighting a lot, using Blue caps as food would be ideal.
Maxwell with bone helm-armor, fully tamed battle saddle ornery beef, 2 stacks of nf, shadow thurible, spicy jelly and 3 grumble bee book read is just unstoppable. İt can kill Ag lower than 15 sec.
OOOOOOOOH I GET IT NOW I always choose the fighter beefalo, and I'm always so annoyed at having to feed it every 2 minutes to be able to mount it again and again I didn't get why the hell would anyone be enjoying the beefalo taming until I realised, people just choose the fast one, it's easier, god damn it
The reason people don't do it is exactly why many people don't do farming even though it's so good... hidden numbers. People the fact that there are numbers that you should know, but can't see them, and you are punished for it. Making something complex or rewarding isn't the issue, it's the gatekeep with hidden numbers, equations, stats, mechanics and such. I come from a game called Dota, and it has some insane mechanics that if you don't know them, it's literally game losing every time. And if you don't know those mechanics, you are considered to be griefing. Guess what, they are also hidden. I've the same vibes in DST... I don't want to mod my game to kingdom come, but stuff like this forces players to rely on mods and ruin their overall experience of the base game.
To make beefalos easier to control, maybe the bell could command them to ignore everything and chase you? and to fix the issues with beefalo deaths, maybe a system similar to BotW's horse revival system would be cool. you could have someone revive your beefalo, at a cost.
Pudgey never outvalues rider or ornery. Wortox is better off with an ornery since he has souls and Webber could probably do well with rider or ornery. Wig is rider Wilson is either Willow is either Wendy is ornery Wicker is ornery Wormwood is ornery Wolfgang is rider Winona is either Wurt is Rider Maxwell is ornery Wanda doesn’t really benefit much Warly is ornery Wes is ornery Woodie doesn’t benefit much Walter is either I can’t remember any other characters if I forgot then it isn’t important.
@@sanga1380 I said that due to Webber/Wortox sanity issues but yeah I agree rider/ornery are the better two, I do hope that they buff normal/pudgey. Webber might be better on rider due to spider army doing most of the fighting.
@@sanga1380 Wanda benefits quite a bit from a rider. It saves a lot of time in the early game and even in the late game. You are going to do a lot of running around anyway, so you'll still get lots of value out of the 2x speed multiplier. Woodie also benefits quite a bit from an ornery since he won't be using the moose form for every day fights, so he's basically Wilson for a lot of the time. A beefalo can also outspeed the goose with a glossamer saddle or by taming a rider. Even without a glossamer saddle, ornery beefalo aren't that much slower. (1.66 vs 1.63 Walter benefits more from an ornery than a rider, since his downside is absolutely abyssmal. You forgot WX-78 but they are faster than a beefalo and dragging one around for fighting seems kinda inefficient
People always think I'm weird for taming a beefalo as Wortox, but I stand by it as being really good for him, especially Ornery. Most of Wortox's perks are tied to souls, and the main thing that holds him back is how out of your way you have to go to gather them. But with a beefalo, you don't need armour, weapons, or healing in order to go fight stuff, and as a result you can have way easier access to souls, not to mention fast transportation that doesn't come at the cost of your main resource. The one thing I would really like to see in his skill tree, though, has got to be soul healing applying to the beefalo itself. That would really take this synergy to the next level.
Taming a beefalo takes SO long, is tedious, drains resources and the payoff... is safety In other words you spend time not having fun in order to take less risks in the future, in a game that's relatively easy and where taking risks is the most fun thing you can do.

If wortox could heal beefalos maybe he could finally be a good character 😭
beefalo are really only good for the speedboost outside of maxwell, wes, and wendy
having a rider beefalo means having a universal speed boost faster than 3 speed circuit wx78, which is extremely useful for any sort of transportation
however, imo ornery beefalo don't do enough damage to be useful, not when hambats (and pretty much any weapon) can accomplish what ornery beefalo can do but significantly better
also beefalo are barely impacted by any of the planar formulas, its more of a skill issue getting hit by knockback attacks (not exclusive to any planar enemy and more a risk you choose to make by fighting a knockback afflicting enemy on beefalo)
5:59 I think you just made that up, or you mean the obedience decrease when getting hit
Wendy is best character for beefalo since abigail increases damage done and beefalo nullifies Wendy's inherent damage modifier to the point that ornery beefalo with a war saddle will do 102 damage iirc
what character do you like playing?
"beefalo"
"Beefalo rider" feels like a seperate character that has great stats but is ultimately not very engaging to play.
It makes all characters too uniform imo
rollback-alo I'm dying xD
If this was on the forums there'd be like a dozen people saying its not OP, or just swap characters, or some other non-advice that avoids discussing the subject.
Anyway, 1000 health may sound big compared to most characters like 150 or 200, but it is unmitigated in a game with bosses that have 100+ damage attacks before the janky planar damage, so 10 hits, and in some cases like with celestial champions phase 2 10 hits goes by real quick. And it doesn't stop ranged damage like Mac Tusks darts or clockwork bishop projectiles.
Beefalo is the superior lifeform and we can harness it
Getting regular Beefalo isn't as hard as JustExo said it would be. in fact, it is actually pretty easy to get it.
Ornery: - do more hunts, ruin rushing, etc (anything that involves fighting). the more damage your beefalo receives, the faster it is for them to become ornery
Rider: - Do more gathering, transport, etc.
also, Steamed twigs are the best to feed beefalo until they are full. lightbulbs are best to max out the beefalo's Obedience, while twigs can be used for both obedience and hunger.
I dislike the care of beef afterwards, can’t just dump it for a few years.
Finnaly someone is talking about beefalos!
bandit radio!
does the beef lose domestication or obedience when getting hit? thanks for the video
OOOOOOOOH I GET IT NOW
I always choose the fighter beefalo, and I'm always so annoyed at having to feed it every 2 minutes to be able to mount it again and again
I didn't get why the hell would anyone be enjoying the beefalo taming until I realised, people just choose the fast one, it's easier, god damn it
Nice video, beefalo good until walking cane + magilumi lol, other than that taming is what, 20-25 days? That's like 3 hours lol
They should shorten the days needed to be fully domesticated
Games easy enough as is
The reason people don't do it is exactly why many people don't do farming even though it's so good... hidden numbers.
Beefalo Ramon is no longer a mod only?
It’s actually in the game!?
Does this apply to Don't Starve? Or just DST? Video, title, and description are not clear on that.
Beefalo meat effigy when
Nah bru I was fighting spiders and it bucked me off and I died immediately. I then killed the beefalo and uninstalled
thats what iv been saying!
beefboi good!
9:41 Can you give a link to the mod that shows numbers of what you get from eating
I updated the description wirh the mod link, sorry about that
@@JustExo That cool mod, but i wanna see the mod that show you stats of the food when you eat it. -11 mind +11 hunger and stuff
I heckin hate beefalo, they're so annoying and that why my favorite feature abt wolfgang that you can move marble pieces by yourself
How do you get those types of buffilo
No one is talking about there is no mechanic in this video
Winona
massive respect for using the bandit radio music in the background! i only needed to hear 2 notes to recognise it lol
I would like to see the best beefalo for every character (Webber/Wortox might be pudgey)
Pudgey never outvalues rider or ornery.
Wortox is better off with an ornery since he has souls and Webber could probably do well with rider or ornery.
Wig is rider
Wilson is either
Willow is either
Wendy is ornery
Wicker is ornery
Wormwood is ornery
Wolfgang is rider
Winona is either
Wurt is Rider
Maxwell is ornery
Wanda doesn’t really benefit much
Warly is ornery
Wes is ornery
Woodie doesn’t benefit much
Walter is either
I can’t remember any other characters if I forgot then it isn’t important.
Pudgey is useless
(1.66 vs 1.63
Walter benefits more from an ornery than a rider, since his downside is absolutely abyssmal.
You forgot WX-78 but they are faster than a beefalo and dragging one around for fighting seems kinda inefficient
@@Kampfpumpernickel thanks I realized I forgot wx but again it doesn’t make mi h sense to have one unless it helped stay dry lol
Hit a beefalo only in Pvp.
Taming a beefalo takes SO long, is tedious, drains resources and the payoff... is safety
In other words you spend time not having fun in order to take less risks in the future, in a game that's relatively easy and where taking risks is the most fun thing you can do.
Here before Lardee
goated mod
I thought the title said strongest mechanics. I hate beefalo.
