      Great way to put it!! Easily in my top 3 live performances of all time, up there with Heart doing Stairway to Heaven in front of Zeppelin themselves. Two very different performances and artists, but both give me goosebumps to this day!

    It’s one of the greatest performances on an awards show and a great story of how it came to happen. Chris told his wife that he was a little nervous about doing this show and she told him to invite one of his friends to perform with him. He didn’t want to ask any one being the humble guy that he is. His wife said ask Justin. And pop goes the weasel!

      What would happen if these two giants went off on a world tour for 6 months, (with Chris's wife)? They would never have to work again, and it's not like they have to now, but the sales would be off the charts.

      @@rickmcintosh5787 You don't have to "agree"...it's a fact. This song is more of a blues song. And black people were always in country and blues music. It's not racist to acknowledge that. Black history in country and blues has almost been erased at this point. Every "American" genre has black roots mixed in it. Country and blues were created from the mixture of the cultures of the early Africans with the Irish and Scots when they got to North America. But it's a shame that when you acknowledge it people get upset and say "well... everything isn't about race". It matters...because the true history of things are steadily being erased especially if black people are involved. So...yes it matters!

    I'll just never get over how special it is what Timberlake does here. This was Stapleton's coming out party to the country music world and Timberlake got that from the jump. He's a MEGASTAR that's out here playing 3rd wheel to Chris and Morganne Stapleton because he GETS the moment. It's so f'n good.

    How this two met Chris told the story on Joe Rogan Podcast show. Justin saw Chris doing a cover on TH-cam and loved it. Justin’s birthday was coming up so his wife got in touch with Chris and asked him if he and his wife would like to come to party and perform as a big surprise for Justin. They went and the rest is history. I saw that performance live and when it was over my daughter and I got up and said there is no

    Chris Stapleton blends the genres of blues and country as well as and singer/musician. Tennessee Whisky was written by Dean Dillon who has written many wonderful songs. Stapleton's voice is unique and like no other. And bringing Justin Timberlake in to perform a duo was spot on. Timberlake has cemented himself as a singer that can cross most any genre and make it his own. All in all a wonderful and memorable performance.

    • @shawnuel
      @shawnuel 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      To your point, Chris' version of Tennessee Whiskey is 2 songs melded together. The lyrics are by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove but the tune is a basic blues shuffle that was the chord structure and melody of "I'd Rather Go Blind", performed by Etta James and co-written by James in the early 60's. So it literally IS a blues country blend!

    Yes, in 2015 Chris was very new to the public, his debut album had just blown up. He's been in Nashville as a song writer since the early 2000's, and had a band he'd play with at small local joints on weekends for extra money. It was his wife that talked him into writing and releasing his own music. If you notice anytime his wife is on stage with him, depending on how early in his career it was, he often looks right at her, for 5-10 seconds at a time. That's because his stage fright with any crowd bigger than a honky-tonk was really bad. His wife is an accomplished vocalists and said, I tell ya what, I'll be your back up singer, and if your anxiety gets bad during a song, just ignore the crowd and sing to me like you do at home. I can hear the "awwwwww"s from the ladies as I just typed that...lol.

    🔥🔥🔥🔥 I am 68 yrs old. I have been to a huge amount of concerts and enjoy a multitude of artists and genres. I think if I was able to be there for this performance, I would have gone outside of my mind. Every human being from the sound and lighting techs to JT and Chris Stapleton, Chris’s wife, background vocals, OMG the band. This was IMO was just INSANE.

    WooooWWW! That blew me away! 2 superstars in their own rights and everyone else on that stage had me and the star studded audience on our feet. What a performance! For a minute I thought that was Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland up there with them, but I guess it's Chris' wife... You got totally into it, Royce. That was lovely to watch!

    I just randomly came across your posts... YOU HAVE TO SEE... I MEAN... HAVE TO SEE Chris stapleton 'I was wrong', the live version as well as 'fool me again' those two live concert songs made me fall in love with him and that insanely amazingly beautiful voice and the notes he holds ... Unbelievable! I got friends who do not like country to love him. I always say he's not really country... He's singer/song writer soul! Please please please... I'd love to see your reaction to both... I truly can't think of which would be best, they are both that amazing! You love all the same things about the songs that I do! Love it, you're reminding me of my own love and feelings for songs!

    Props as first person I've heard mention Stapleton's wie, Morgan. One could argue this song's a trio in many places. As much obscene talent Chris has, JT shows he's also a generous and special showman. He gauges his harmonies off Mogane, probably cues more off her than Chris, and drops half, if not a full octave in places to create more space for Stapleton. Not to mention, JT's interaction with rhe TN Kids + Staplton's 3 core band members. This is mastery, respect, unreal talent, and joy.

    Tennessee Whiskey" is a country song written by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove. It was originally recorded by American country music artist David Allan Coe for his album of the same name Tennessee Whiskey, whose version peaked at number 77 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart in 1981.[1] George Jones' 1983 version of the song was included on his album Shine On, and reached number 2 on the Hot Country Singles chart.

    Sweet Beautiful Young Lady, If you want to see Chris and Morgan's best performance of " Tennessee Whiskey" check them out at the Austin city limits. The way they look at each other throughout the song tells the story. Their love and devotion is evident!
    Justin Timberlake is a good singer songwriter that Chris does great with. But Chris Stapleton is a stand alone performer that all ( including HER) have shined with because of his voice.
    His Raspy gospel rooted singing is fabulous and his guitar playing sings the songs with him. Thank You for your viewing. You are in my prayers.
