@@comicsetc5788 Yep yep. Since the Marvel Knights relaunch I would say that the only Daredevil run that actually sucked was the Andy Diggle (Shadowland) one. Everything else has been ranging from good to excellent.
I hate to do this but you’re wrong because Maximum Carnage doesn’t start until after the final issue in that omnibus (#378 was the first Amazing chapter), the issues you’re referencing here are the three parter that introduces Carnage.
I'm glad they skipped maximum garbage. It's been collected so many different times and it's not good. I guess the Dematteis issues were okay. Sidekicks revenge is good for Moon knight fans and Bagley is the definitive Spider-Man artist.
6:33 no you don’t actually because later on this year in December vol. 2 will have the rest of Zdarsky’s Daredevil run and it’ll also include the Devils Reign event as well and I cannot wait to get it
You’re wrong because this may be the only way to get the full Spidey run in Omni format. I’m not sure the ASM Omni volumes will continue sequentially… 6/7/8 etc. seems they’re releasing them by Artist from around #252 onwards 🤷🏻♂️
The completist in me gets it but there is so much filler in these books that I am leaning towards the need for like.... a different book? I don't what that is but maybe something like a best of?
Remember when the Grant Morrison Batman omnibus included the tie-in issues to Resurrectuon of Ras al Ghul BUT included two single page comics (with new Chris Burnham art no less) that gave you the context you needed for the tie-ins and then briefly explained how the story ended. How did that not become the stabdard for doing tie-ins in collections? (The answer is: it involves the publishers spending more money)
Ha, I appreciate the honesty about the bad omnibuses. House of M Companion is such a blatant money grab lololololol I am looking forward for my Dardevil copy from Comics Etc Direct :) Do I know when I will read it? Not really, but I will get there xD
You're wrong because anyone should be happy to have that in their book case. It is such a nice looking hardcover, and I normally don't collect hardcovers. Weird about the annuals being first up, but if you want to read about every story tangentially associated with spider-mans friends and acquaintances, I guess that's one of the ways of all time.
Look, the layout bothers me, too but it is an amazing period in Spidey history and one that I remember so fondly. I'd love to be able to re-read the old issues and all the ones I couldn't afford at the time! I would kill Gwen Stacey to have this guy on my shelf!
Minor Correction Just in regards to Timestamp 6:35 - you won't necessarily have to get the Devil's Reign omnibus for the complete story, because there is a Daredevil by Chip ZDARSKY omnibus Vol. 2 coming (which i've already pre-ordered through the Comics Direct site, hence how i knew about it). That omnibus will collect: Daredevil (2019) 31-36, Daredevil: Woman Without Fear (2022) 1-3, Devil’s Reign (2021) 1-6, Devil’s Reign Omega (2022) 1, Daredevil (2022) 1-14
Hmmmm........ Really depends when you open it. MOST marvel open fine and you can tell it won't be an issue but I have had a couple DC that are really tight and did need some work.
You're not wrong per say but different eras of spider-man are still valid. I think it would be a good collection because it show cases what early spider-man books were like.
@@comicsetc5788 This isn't a bad idea, but the problem then becomes, how do you define the best stories, as most people would have a different idea on the best stories for whatever reason.
I don’t own any omnis because I’m in my last year of school and getting paid chump change at work. But when I can afford one, Daredevil might be the go. (It’ll make my fitness teacher very happy as he keeps telling me to read daredevil) Love the videos guys!
Your wrong as mark bagleys work on spiderman is a perfect depiction of physical spiderman, while david micheline has the perfect mental side of spiderman, a great collection of stories that also work towards bringing further reading and omnibus buying to flesh out stories
"I'm not going to review this one, because I'm not an 80-year-old man." 😂 Also, you're wrong about Michelinie and Bagley Spider-Man, James ... because Devil's Reign will be collected in Daredevil by Zdarsky vol. 2 (bate and switches count, right? No?).
Who wouldn't love the heroes of the 90s (New Warriors / Nova crossovers with Spidey or X-teams are my jam)? I'll respect your take on Annuals being useless most the time but there are exceptions (and i'm not just talking Taylor's Nightwing annuals where he fleshed out backstories for Heartless & Bea Bennett integral to the plotting of the main series). The Majority of Marvel's Annuals between 1988-1992 were multi-part arced stories spread across the annuals of multiple books, and it was a GREAT way to manage cross-overs (definitely better than modern event books having to "redefine everything you know" every single time more than two characters go fight evil together) & tell solid interconnected stories. There are some legendary arcs from that time including: The Evolutionary War, Atlantis Attacks, Return of the Defenders, Days of Future Present (legit one of my all-time favourite X-stories) etc (there's a reddit listing all the arcs) + the two collected in this omnibus The Hero Killers (really fun) & The Vibranium Vendetta.
Are omnibuses the whole business strategy for comics now? Last time I was in I feel like the shelves were 40% massive hardbacks by volume (I honestly can't even imagine how much art is being lost in the centre fold). Like, is this the strategy now, to make luxury goods (let's be real, that's what they are) into even more luxury goods?
Pretty much……. they have always been a thing but Covid turned them into THE thing. thankfully most omnis have flexible binding which allows the art to be seen. I think I have only had that issue with 2….
@comicsetc5788 Did...did publishers respond to not having any new comics to sell for a few months by repackaging old comics in the most expensive format they could? That's...honestly so perfect.
Big reason why you're wrong about the Spidey omni is that the truth came out at the 13:25 mark where you yourself said there are 4 good omnibuses, and the Spidey omni was one of them! 😂
I'm excited to read chips Daredevil, I just read The Knight and loved it. Also never read The Batman & Robin Adventures, Just The Batman Adventures. Thinking I'll want that also.
Maximum Carnage will be in volume 2 and it will be complete in volume two. Will never understand how people don’t like michilnie run ten times better than that garbage JMS run
Can't say whether you're wrong or right about Spiderman but you are wrong about Captain America, take it from an eighty years old man in a sixty year Olds body😅
Imo Daredevil feels like one of those series where the art is phenomenal pretty much every time
with writing to match!….. most of the time!

he sure is! will never be touched.
Flippant disregard for Mark Grunwald’s Captain America run?! I pity the fool…you’re missing out, it’s truly epic (and I’m younger than you!)
It's more a Captain America thing. His Squadron Supreme is still in my top 5 of all time!

PREACH. THIS SHOULD BE THE STANDARD.
Here's why you are wrong.... Bagley is heaps good.
I will DM my mailing address for the book I just won.
(Also, bonus points for Colin's cameo.)
he is our little pocket rocket!
If you ever close your awesome online site, then my Spidey-senses say “you’re wrong”. Keep up the fantastic products and service!
Thanks! We ant going nowhere!
I'm not a fan of dust jackets either. But I love slipcases. And clamshells are even better.
THIS!
I’m really excited for that spidey omni. Bagley’s art is incredible and the Venom and Carnage stories are super fun. Big fan of this era.
it’s good to see how some of those classic characters started

Look, I tried reading the stories but they were average at best. Not at all worth the Omni treatment
Has there been a bad run of DD since Miller? It's got to be one of the most consistently great Marvel books.
1000000% Very rare to see.
James immediately flipping the bird after turning the Spidey omnibus over tells you straight away what he thinks of the book.

personally I would prefer an annual to be a stand alone one shot. it can still be relevant but I don’t wanna read more than one to get a full story
