I was the most innocent girl to ever walk the halls of my high school. Extremely right wing conservative, never touched a drop of alcohol, and never partied. Then college happened. My mind was opened to a whole different world of experiences and cultures. It's amazing how differently I view the world now.

I wish I could go to a university. I mean community college is wonderful but I really wanted the experience. *sighs* The perks of being poor and an above average student who never participated in extra curricular activities. oh well :P
Are you me? Lol I know what you mean. Community college is great when it comes to saving money but I feel like I missed out on having a real college experience. Going away and being independent and meeting people from all over the country; its something I'll never have the chance to do again. I am poor and had to resort to community college and since I'm not a genius and didn't participate much in highschool it was hard for me to get an amazing scholarship to some 4 year school.
***** for me i'm going straight from cc to a local university to save money (a cuny college where there are no dorms a.k.a no college experience)
The thing is I'll most likely I won't be able to afford to go to a university unless I work for a few years first after getting my associates degree.

It was harder for me to fit in since everyone at that point has already established their groups and friends and since I don't live on campus and I work its harder to participate in social life activities at school.

Same here. I made no friends in college. It was extra hard for me since I was a transfer plus a commuter. Everyone had established their group of friends by the time I came.
Law school is tough. I used to go study in the law library because it was so incredibly quiet until they started banning non-law people from the law library. I noticed that all the law kids had their own cubicles - like they were there all the time anyway so they got assigned their own frickin' space in the library to basically live in. That was just crazy to me. But hey, you work hard, you'll make more money than I ever will. Good luck, buddy!

I'm in highschool and I'm getting so much stress that if you stroke my hair, some would fall off. From this it seems like college is much more relaxing.
+░KenLinx░ it LOOKS more relaxing but it's not...the workload is craycray. The thing is you make your own schedule so you work at your own pace. It's more lenient cuz you're treated like an adult..but the grades are also harder to achieve.

+░KenLinx░ Yeeeaaahhh....nope. I find college to be even more stressful. The key is learning to tame and manage your stress in all levels of stress. I'm a 3rd year at UC Davis and my classes are ridiculously stressful, especially Chinese, which gives me a quiz almost every day regardless of homework due, its two midterms, and my other classes. If it helps, colleges on the semester system are much easier to manage. At least for me because the work is more spread out. I don't recommend colleges on the quarter system.

Oh my god, yes. I'm a freshman not living on campus and it's literally impossible to make friends! No one wants to socialize in college. The only friends I have are the people I already knew from high school, but that's about it.
At my university, no one cares if you have friends are not. So even if someone sits alone at lunch, no one will care or judge (unlike high-school).
I'm already living like that. In my high school I have none of my friends in my classes save for one. And for years its been like that, i havent had many of my friends in my classes. i hope to make new friends in college. I don't wanna be alone. T.T I don't know how I'm gonna say goodbye to all my high school friends. Even if we still stay in touch it'll be like we're moving apart. And some of them will be going out of state too. T.T Someone reassure me I'll make friends.

It's my first year of college and I'm embarrassed to say so far my friend situation is the opposite I had lots in Highschool but like one in college. (Also all my friends went to out of state colleges)
I would suggest you find a club to join...that way you will meet people who are into the same things you are. Or get a job, that's how I found some pretty good friends too. The point is, don't be afraid to go and talk to people, in college most everyone is pretty nice. Or at least that was my experience, but then again, I'm from Kansas so most people are nice (or at least polite).
Same for me, but where I'm the one went out of my hometown for school. I visit quite often, but it still feels lonely with just one friend here. /:

It's a first year, sooner or later I believe you'll gain more friends. Idk, but people are way friendlier in here at college time. Like there is no gap between one to another (unlike in highschool where some kids only hang out with several kids).

I don't understand school these days, if it's more freeing or less. In the fifties, we felt free to do anything socially, but these days you can do anything career wise. I suppose these days are better, but I feel too old to think about this. I should just go to bed as the 'boomer' I am, haha!

Words to live by. I still didn't know what I wanted to do after completing my undergrad degree at college, so I stayed in to get my graduate degree and thought it would just work itself out. Now I'm almost halfway done my grad degree and I STILL dont know what I wanna do so I'm prbly just gonna stay in college to get my PhD and hope it figures itself out by then.

I've been in and out of college. The time I've spent in college has been hands-down better than in high school. The time I've spent out of college has recently been better than the time in school - but I really think it's because I went to college and therefore have a more educated perspective on the world and I'd feel differently if I hadn't gone.
If you want more formal education, absolutely go to college. That said, I highly recommend you choose your major based on what you're interested in - don't get pushed into doing a hard science if you're more into literature. Talk to your professors even when you're not having trouble and ESPECIALLY when you're really into something related to the course material. Find clubs based on interest. Try new hobbies. Don't feel obligated to join a Greek org or party if you're not into it - don't avoid those things if you want to do them.
Your mileage may vary. College, though, is what you make of it even moreso than high school because people start trusting you to live your life more.
Same with me. I loved high school freshman year but once I hit sophomore year, things just went downhill from there. I have major senioritis right now--can't wait until I graduate in June.

Wow, that was like the perfect advice for college. Also, I find High School overrated. Sure it was fun but so far my 20s have been way better.
College is way worse imo, but it's all a matter of perspective. I no longer have someone forcing me to get up and go to class every day, now I have to pay for everything myself, and it's not always the case but the college professors are less sympathetic than high school teachers. I guess I just didn't want to grow up yet lol

College was interesting. I learned to do stuff I was bad at, just because I loved it. In high school I was all about achieving stuff to get into college, so I never did anything I was bad at. Didn't even try. I was so caught up in winning that I missed out on a lot of things I should have loved.

Freshman year of highschool is a drag at first. But it gets better. And once you're in college you can do whatever you want and actually focus on you, even though you do need to take a couple of mandatory courses. Also you just need to stay positive and with that things will start to just be better.

If you aren't sure what you want to do after high school, take a year off and work for a year. Don't apply to colleges just because you feel pressured into it. Sometimes taking a year to work can help a lot.
I do not know you. The probability that you are one more person seeking attention and the probability that you are a sincerely distressed person is equally high, but allow me to tell you one thing. High school can suck, college can suck and guess what life can also suck but it does not have to. Talk to someone whether it is a close friend or a school counselor and hopefully you will realize that it can get better. Good luck!
Let me be honest. Nobody gives a shit about you in college. Everybody goes to class. And leaves. Studies. And take exams. Nobody has the time or the energy to look at anyone else. There is very little desire to make friends. So you would be just fine there. Everyone focuses on themselves.

If you're like HalfooCurls and don't know how to study, then your fucked. But I was like you in high school: I didn't study and could give less of a fuck. I figured when to study and when not to for my college classes. Most of the time, I didn't really study; I only did for midterms and finals really and I got deans-listed. I know it may sound like a bad influence to some people to tell you that not studying is ok in college, but the first couple of years are like high school anyway so I don't see anything wrong with that.
What I'm struggling to do is find cool, chill people to hang with because everyone's so uptight and and stressed about school. What'll make college awesome is people and having fun while learning about something you really love and care about.
