I'm using and old thinker pad as a desktop replacement and I have to say it works for me with school work and I like that a lot and also thank you for you because I watch your videos and I went online I bought it on Facebook market it was a really good deal I upgrade the RAM and the storage and it has work for me really good
Thank you for making this video! I have had mine since around 2017. Have added RAM. Not extra programs. Light use. My internet is slow when compared to my newer work laptop. How do I make my 5580 faster? NIC? What do you suggest?
usd 220? for dell 5580 i7 with ram ? and ssd? i bought it around usd 320 with ram 16GB and ssd 512 GB plus new bag plus new wireless mouse and pad and charge
can i install 2 storage options? 1 is 256 m2 like the one is installed previously and 1 is 2.5 inch sata like you upgraded to. what i mean is install both together.
Guy that is trying to sell one to me says it is expandable to 64gb ram. Although that processor “allows” it, Dell’s website maxes the 5580 at 32gb. Any thoughts?
I know it can do 32GB. Do you need 64GB? As long as the video card is good, it should cover most graphic intensive tasks. My editing rig has 64GB but my 16GB MacBook does just as well.
Thanks so much for this! I've spent weeks looking for a decent laptop, and had to return an expensive Neo 15 due to a design flaw with the keyboard (mechanical keyboard, the switch is at the bottom of each key, so unless you hit the key directly in the middle or at the bottom, it doesn't actuate). All the modern laptops I've seen (with discrete GPUs) sound like hair-dryers the moment you throw light graphics job at them. Anyway, I've just ordered a refurbished Dell Precision 7720, which also has the 7820HQ. I'm a Linux user (who needs CUDA cores), and I don't care about bleeding edge specs or speed. Anyway, should be delivered tomorrow - can't wait.
@@MikeDancy I'm installing Arch Linux (with KDE Plasma 5) as we speak :) Will create a video soon of Arch running on the 7720. Just need to install Nvidia divers...
Just purchased one of these for my son needed for school, haven't received. Looking to upgrade the storage. Is the slot you pulled the 256GB SSD out of NVME? I additionally purchased a similar(WD) 1TB 2.5in SSD but just realized I don't have one of those adapter cables. So now considering returning and getting a 1TB M.2 SSD but unsure if it's a M.2 SATA or M.2 NVME slot. It looks like a NVME slot but really don't want to place another order for the wrong thing which won't be plug n play.
6:35 The way the SSD and battery are set up makes me wonder if there's a larger capacity battery that could fit in there alone.
I’ll look at that when we get into a more in-depth peek
yes its designed that way so you can fit a 92w battery

Can you add another ssd?

@@leeyongjie-dc3fw that's normal since it should be 256gb and 8gb ram
Wanted to ask
Does this laptop support both an ssd and a hdd inside of the laptop like how some laptops do
can i install 2 storage options?

what i mean is install both together.
I’ve never tried it.. but I might. I recently inherited this machine again from my kid
Did run speed test on the m.2 Sata drive? And will it support an nvme m.2 speed?
This has a thunderbolt 3 port right? That's your docking port.
This one is not a Thunderbolt 3 port from what I can tell. It depends on the controller and this particular model doesn’t have one.
hey mike, could this suffice for music production?
Yes it could. I was using it to edit video.

Are the I7 7gen 14inch suitable for graphic designing, android studio, or some video editing?
Yeah they should be able to handle it

It is NVME and can go up to 4TB, the published 512mb in the manual was Dell only offered up to 512.
How its battery performance? does it have heat issue or noisy fan issue? thanks for the video btw
That’s the next video. :) excellent battery life though
Hows the screen on it?
Sir please reply....
Is this laptop has m.2 nvme gen 4 support???
I’m not sure if it can support gen 4
It supports gen 4 but runs on gen 2 speed.
It runs at 4x PCI speed for NVME, it is on Dell's site for a 5580
Please, is it good for design with some games?
some. but it's more of a work machine for graphic design, video editing than gaming. thanks for watching
