      Alyssa, I think your black sapote will grow well for you once it gets established. It's a strong tree that has no problems with the cold at all here in Sydney. Hopefully it'll take off this summer!

    Beautiful lush, tropical garden! It would be nice to have a video with Heliconias growing in a few months. I am at 37 deg North latitude (similar latitude as Melbourne which is 37 deg South). I planted a few jackfruit seedlings this summer -- hope they grow here.

      Ah thanks for your lovely comments.
      I’ll do another vid in summer . I’ll get the heliconias on film for sure, they are incredible!
      Good luck with the jackfruits. It’s all about micro climates and trial and error 🤟

      Wow that’s an amazing list of fruits! Maybe you could do a garden tour vid? I’m very interested to see what works for you, as we’re in the same climate. How is the star apple and chemperdacks going?

    • @Chadceeka
      @Chadceeka 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sapotesaporium5408 The star apples are tiny just bought them a few months ago on ebay
      The grafted jackfruit/chempedak is about five foot tall inground. Not exactly as fast growing as I hoped. Fruited a few times during winter but they end up dropping off. My yard is small, going to struggle to fit them when they're a decent size

      Wow that's a massive list. Pls do make a garden tour video.
      I'm in Blacktown area (very few frosty days) and just planted Mangoes (4 varieties), Avocados (4 varieties), Lychees (2 varieties), Persimmon Fuyu NA, Loquat Seedling and figs.
      Avocados are doing pretty good. Hoping for some of mangoes to succeed. One of the Lychees bought from Bunnings is already floweing so fingers crossed!

      @@BloggerEngineer I guess I better remove the weeds then. My yard is fairly small. Most of the trees are small.
      I have a seedling Erdon Lee then came across a marcotted Erdon lee a month ago and got that. My marcotted Red Ball lychee I bought last year is flowering for the first time as well.
      I still need to set up my hardwood post for the dragon fruit. I also have a tiny Desert King fig and Violet De Bordeaux Fig that I received as cuttings last year.
      This is the site I found the marcotted Erdon Lee Lychee a month ago, there were 8 available at the time but are sold out at the moment. It's the first Australian site I've seen lemon Zest mango listed for sale, I wish I'd seen it before they were sold out.

    Nice tour! You’ve got a beautiful garden. Ive just picked my first black sapote from my tree actually. Also for jackfruit seedlings growing. There’s some videos of a Sydney jackfruit tree and a blog where they fruited them too. I think getting a long enough summer to ripen them is part of the challenge.

      Hey thanks so much for watching! I’m glad I found your channel too! It’s hard to get a lot of info on tropical fruit in temperate climates. Very interesting about the jackfruit needing a long summer… probably like a lot of our fruit it needs to overwinter 🤞
      congrats on your first black sapote, what a thrill! You can look forward to many more in the future 🤟

    Love your garden and fruit trees. After seeing your beautiful tree I'm pondering whether to plant my 2 yo Mamey Sapote this spring. Were the Jackfruit seedlings planted out all winter? Thanks for sharing!

    • @sapotesaporium5408
      @sapotesaporium5408  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Glad you enjoyed it George, and thanks for inspiring me to do a garden tour!! I planted the jackfruits in early spring from memory. My experience is they are a bit slow but pretty tough.. barely any yellow leaves over winter.. I rate there hardiness with black sapote over winter. I’ve had scale issues with most of my plants at the end of winter.
      You know better than me if it’s time to plant the mamey. Mine gets some yellow leaves at the end of winter and some pests but it’s just getting stronger each year. I’m sure you’ll get it growing well in melb once it gets established. It might loose a lot of leaves over winter but it grows them back very fast!
      Love your vids mate! 👏

      I probably have 150 square meters of growing space. The block is 600 but a couple of houses on it.
      So let’s just say I’m buying more plants than I have room for 😉
