Dude. Real talk. Your current season of episodes have been nothing but pure gold. You truly have improved your entire style going from being a copy with borrowing because you were new to the genre of angry reviews but loved what you were watching to pretty much being your own thing entirely. The flow is so great. I really hope your channel grows to that million mark that you deserve. Keep up the good work.
PS that “head that kinda looks like Lucy from Peanuts” is actually Goemon’s face. Goemon was the star of another Konami series that started in 1986 but remained Japan-exclusive until 1992.
yeah that was gonna be my guess, is that's supposed to be Goemon from his self-titled series (or mystical ninja, for those familliar with the first US release)
it's always a shame when big franchises in Japan never end up being as succesful in the west, like Macross could've been huge if only Harmony Gold hadn't sat on the rights for so many decades, they only just now finally allowed the series to cross-over to the USA.
Thanks for encouraging me to get the famicom. Did you know that it is also interesting how it is linked in the parodius games, twin bee is a selectable ship in that game? I own it on the Japanese Sega Saturn. The japanese indeed do have better shmups than we do for most parts. Whats funnier is that Gradius, Twin Bee, Stinger, and Parodius are all under the same company. Yet, for the Sega Saturn version of the game, all three ships are selectable.
That head actually reminded me of Yajirobe from Dragon Ball. Interesting backstory. I thought it looked kind of like Twin Bee, or more like Parodius with all it's weird crap going on. Sonic in that corner like "hey you aren't munching on a chilly dog!" Lol.
I'm glad the irate show's been back. I watched all the irate reviews when I was younger and a lot of these videos pushed me through some stuff as a kid.
One of them received a release on the 3DS as part of the Classics Line of games they put out. It is one of the better 3DS games that nobody seems to talk about when they mention 3DS games.
Finally came around to watching this one. Awesome work. I've never heard of this game, let alone this franchise. And wow, this has to have been the most batshit insane series of games before the "Cho Aniki", only with less muscular men and more weirder. Interesting see something from when Konami wasn't doing mostly "Pachinko" machines and "Yu-Gi-Oh!" video games.
yeah that's my least favorite part of twinbee, juggling the bells to get the right color while also dodging enemies and bullets, that death montage hit home lol! definitely want to track down a copy for the collection!
Chris ma'lad. Thoroughly enjoyed bud. And actually learned something. At the start i thought i recognized the game! Hope you are well. I have some really cool paranormal evidence if you want me to link it. Best wishes.
It's a joy to see AVGN and IG still releasing videos. Getting to watch both channels still put out new releases really does take me back to a happier time in my life. When the only thing that mattered was the newest flame war in the TH-cam comments. Haha. Keep up the great work - it's clear you're having as much as a good time with these as the viewers are. :)
We didn't get the TwinBee series for NES in Europe for some reason. Gradius on NES was the Konami game that introduced me to vertical shooters 30 years ago. 12:25 Ironically I played Rollergames when it was new, lol. It's one of those games you gotta learn to beat with trial and error, but once you get good at it, it's not bad at all (and the musics are badass, of course).
Isn’t this Twinbee? Edit: so it is Twinbee, I remember playing this as a kid on NES back in the day, this series was everywhere on PC Engine, Super Famicom, even on Playstation and Sega Saturn, it even crosses over with the Parodius series all the way with the bells power ups, I’m surprised Americans didn’t know about this over here in Asia we always knew it as Twinbee.
Can you tell where to look for that arcade cabinet at the intro of your video, the thing that flies to and from the screen? You said it was some generic design. Where can it be found, and how do you do that effect?
Please review the multiple versions of Earthworm Jim. Such as SNES, Genesis and even the GameBoy version. Such a unique, wacky, fun game. Thanks either way Chris!
Throughout the video I had the uncanny valley feeling that I played this game (despite not playing it at all) and at 9:41 I finally understood why. Yeah, as a kid I had and played (quite a lot) the bootleg version of TwinBee on my local, also bootleg version of NES.
interesting, that 1:55 cartridge art reminds me of pop'n twinbee (I preferred the snes rainbow bell adventures platformer myself). 2:33 I see shooter twinbee now
I really enjoy playing Stinger that was my most and number 1 favorite NES game and video game of all time is a port on Famicom Disk System in Japan called Moero Twinbee and I played a lot and I was a huge Twinbee video game shooter fan.
Nintendo would limit how many games a publisher could release back then. It is why so many fled to SEGA and Sony later on. Some companies had to even make different companies just to publish all their games.
Dude, nice connection with “Kidd Video”... but you didn’t even mention the most obvious connection. The font for “Kidd Video” logo is identical to “Stinger”! 🤯
I actually own RollerGames. Bought it at a flea market when i was young (early to mid 90's). It's not really a bad game imo. It's not great buy comparison to many classics, but i found it quite entertaining.
@Derran Thervese I'm not in a rush, you were right, they were mistaken in the past, but not anymore, actually you could have saved some time by not even commenting as your comment doesn't add to the topic at hand
Anime are cartoons though. Just cartoons made in Japan. I understand people separate the two and the reasoning behind it is cool. But at the end of the day, they are the one and the same to me. They are part of the same genre. It’s like different sub genres of metal. The creative process and influence may be different from genre to genre, but the root of them all remain the same. That’s just me though. To each their own
This game has alot of similarities with Fantasy Zone. Out of all the Nes games I've owned or played it must have flown over my radar. I'll have to check this out
Hey Chris, I just want to thank you for making these videos again. Love any classic game reviewed by you. I’m 38 and you play right into my nostalgia. I love AVGN but I’m loving your videos even more lately. Sincerely, thanks bud. 🤙🏻
It was amazing to see you covering The legacy Of Twinbee Chris! It's' very well informed and correct too. Probably your best video in years, but I am biased towards SHMUPS !
One thing that comes to mind, besides the nostalgia of Kidd Video, was the Konami Code. Each game would let you use it and it would do different things from lives, to power ups, etc. Anyone know what the code would do here?

You were firing on all cylinders with this video! Great editing, story and comedy all mixed together.
Lot of us played Gradius or Life Force on NES, none of my friends even knew about Stinger.
Is like Lifeforce is on Horizontal and vertical shoot'em ups on Nes even the final boss from Lifeforce
@@ezequielgomez7083 most shooters on the NES were either horizontal or vertical, due to limitations of game engines.
“Gradius” was a great space shooter than this one as well as “Life Force”. Both of them are great than this one.

Good review and pretty informative as I never heard of the Stinger series before.

No sequels, no cartoon, also no merchandise amd Macdonald’s happy meal toys, it could have been huge cash grab for Konami in North America.
