A pocket trumpet for motorcycle travel... nice to see someone who as his priority in order :-)
Just a little comment before you oil this way. Make sure your bottom valve caps are clean and don't have any dirt sitting in there. I tried this technique without checking the caps first, and I actually ended up with sticky valves, because the oil was mixing with dirt on the way in. If your caps are clean, this works great.
Fantastic video. I love your "down home" way of explaining things. Also, I suppose you can find your trumpet penetrating oil next to the car blinker fluid.
Thanks for the information. I'm a long-time trombone teacher and the pastor of my church gave me a trumpet a few days ago. I'm starting to learn to play and your videos are a big help!
Love your vids! Any of these considered non-toxic? I unfortunately used what came with a cheap trumpet, and could NOT get the petroleum based smell off my hands. Washed several times before trying to eat a sandwich after applying the oil. I understand petroleum based to be toxic.
Does it matter if I used the regular oil and switch to synthetic
What should I do with my trumpet when I finish practicing? Do I need to take it apart and dry it each time?
I use blue juice
Thanks for this tutorial Sir, very helpful. A question: the oil from the previous oiling of the valves where has that gone? Out of the spitvalve?
Very thin. Evaporation.
Isn't penetrating oil for parts that are rusted?
Cheap oils vs synthetic oils? Aren't they all petroleum distillates?
