I'm sure someone else has brought this up, but the incarnation of Ghidorah in: Giant Monsters All Out Attack, was originally an Orochi that only grew back three of its heads upon being awakened.
In my initial playthrough of Sword, the final gym battle had a Duraludan gigantamaxed into a giant skyscraper, so I couldn't resist sending out my Tyranatar to become giant and knock that building down.
It's even weirder when you realize that Dialga/Palkia (I can't remember who exactly) outright uses King Ghidorah's roar, and Giratina outright uses Mothra's. But I can also see the ones you mentioned here. Tyranitar is just common sense to anyone who knows both franchises.
Your not completely off about wurmple. It's a bug that can turn into either a beautiful butterfly or an evil looking moth which fits Mothra and Battra's relationship of being the yin and yang to each other
It might just be me but I think Groudon is also a good representation of Godzilla. Godzilla can be lanky just like Godzilla and kind of looks like him. I also want to mention the fact that they both have a g in the start of there names but that's just a coincidence because groudon is literally is the land Pokemon, and obviously you need ground to make land.
Actually, Groundon is based on the mythology of the Behemoth, since Groundon is more landlocked monster while its counterpart Kyogre is based of the Leviathan.
It's funny because, for years Ive used the nicknames "Baragon" or "Destroya" for Nidoking, "Hedora" for Muck and "Mothra" for Butterfree or female Venomoths. Also, "Godzilla" for Dragonite or Tyranitar and I might have named a Blastoise ”Gamera" once when I was really young.... I also named a Venusaur "Biolante" once even tho they don't really look too similar ... I think a Meganium too, i'm not sure.
Fun fact: Proto Grounds cry Has parts of the call of Godzilla 1954 in his and Kyogres reputation (proto and normal) is very similar to the sounds that Mothra makes of himself. Also Toho was part of many Pokémon movies.
Millennium Ghidorah from GMK was a juvenile Orochi awakened before it could form its missing 5 heads Also another Tyranitar trait which screams "Godzilla" is its capability to learn Surf by HM
A lot of people in the comment section here doing that thing where "it look similar, therefore it based on that!" Like yeah many spider pokemons are based on a single spider kaiju Kumonga... or all of them just based on spiders in general..? Like unless it's conclusive, don't connect the dot guys!
@thehalo711 More like "your property is mine now." Also Gigantamax Butterfree looks like 2019 Mothra, other than that I say Volcarona looks more like Mothra overall
I call foul on Caterpie and Wurmple being kaiju-inspired. Caracoasta seems unlikely. Nidoking and Grimer/Muk are iffy. Surprised you didn't mention Slaking as King Kong.
I guess that Destoroyah and Giratina share some similarities. Roselia could refer to Biollante (flower form). I know that a lot of people think it, but I don't see a connection between Hydreigon and King Ghidorah. The only thing they have in common is that they both have 3 heads. But that's already it. Visually they are so different, it basically can't be more disconnected.
Believe it or not but Yamato no Orochi is set to make his next debut in live action form in a movie called Brush of the God in 2023 by none other than Keizo Murase. It's his director debut. There's even a teaser out on TH-cam already. And I'm surprised the video didn't mention in one of the old Godzilla films it described Godzilla as a T-Rex mutated do to radiation. So the name tyranataur is a reference itself to that callback.
None of these pokemon are based off kaiju except maybe tyranitar, man really sees a caterpie and thinks of mothra and not a caterpillar. Just cause they are based off the same thing doesn't mean the pokemon is based off a kaiju.
Volcaronas Name in the german version of the Pokémon Games is RAMOTH! If you write "Moth" before "Ra", you will get "MOTHRA". I think there's literally an inspiration from the kaiju...
The only thing they have in common are some things in their design, other than that they are both totally different beings, Manda was probably based on a chinese dragon, and Rayquaza was probably based on the feathered serpent Quetzalcoatl
Hydreigon: Has 3 heads Has only wings and legs, no arms Destroys everything in sight (Minecraft Wither is it you?) I think it can learn thunderbolt? In Sword and Shield you can have either Deino or Larvitar. Idk which is in which game but still.

Tyranitar: Godzilla
Moltres: Rodan
Volcarona: Mothra

Tyranitar is more Bemular from Ultraman. They have way more similarities than tyranitar does with Godzilla.
I agree with everything but moltres I see ayrodactyl as rodan “, sure it’s not fire but come on
King Kaiju gaming Moltres should be Fire Rodan. Or maybe even Charizard could be Fire Rodan.
No. Rodan and Moltres. A Pteranodon, and a flying chicken. No.

Palkia also uses godzillas roar and lunala had mothras roar
and my question is: WHY THE HELL DIDN'T THEY CHOSE DESTOROYAH'S ROARS FOR GIRATINA???????
Reshiram uses Megaguirus's roar in the anime but half of the roar is kind of heard.

Godzilla does in fact look like Godzilla
A good list and a good job!
Garbodor could easily share the same spot as Grimer and Muk
Well you can add baxcalibur as a reference to Godzilla
I see Mothra in Beautifly, specifically the wings. The split evolution into Dustox also makes me think "Ahhhh the evil twin, Battra"
Baxcalibur and iron thorns probably would be here if they existed at the time admittedly

Why is the end music soooo sad
Idk

The legendary Pokemon Rayquaza kind off reminds me of Manda.

U ment VolCORONA?
I think desghidorah may have had a hand in hydreigon's design
And we all know tyranitar lost the crown for being the Godzilla look alike pokemon
If Hydregion is based on Yamata-No-Orochi and GMK KG is a jeuvie... King Gidorah is still based Hydregion.
I was thinking what about feraligator as Godzilla
4:43 he looks more like red king nil
Why is there sad music in #1
Volcarona’s German name is Ramoth. That alone says that Volcarona does have Mothra in it’s design.
Also, Feraligatr kinda sounds like Godzilla
Bro I loved the dmc ost
Pokemon was based on ultraman for people wanting to know it.
caterpie looks like a papillio demoleus tbh
I’ve heard it pronounced Heh-door-ah or Heh-da-rah but never Head-rah
The English dub for the movie pronounces it that way, but the godzilla tokyo sos trailer says it the right way at least
Caterpie is innacurate. Caterpie is based on a real caterpillar that looks exactly like it
Feralligator seems like a much more Godzilla like Pokemon in my opinion
Groudon is Burning Godzilla.
when i first say tyranitar is instantly said he is bascly a Pokémon godzilla
technically it should be all of caterpies evolutions since...well ya know what I mean
Gyarados is based on manda

He isn't
Tyrannitar is actually Bemular they both have similar attributes and it is from Ultraman one of the inspiration of Pokémon.
That actually makes sense, I think because of gamefreak making Baxcalibur for gen 9 based on Godzilla would be redundant
You spelled hedorah and baragon wrong and orochi isn’t a Godzilla kaiju
Paper Finz: both caterpie and mothra are small caterpillars
Me: the smallest mothra ever was atleast 72 feet in length
I’m pretty sure the prehistoric Pokémon named Aerodactyl is based on Rodan

I always thought that SQUWERTLE was based on Gammera .
Gamera isn't a Godzilla or Toho monster
Rhydon is pretty similar Seagoras from The return of Ultraman
I think caterpie is an exaggeration
For Yanmega, I was thinking Kamacuras because I don’t know when Yanmega was created, but I’m guessing it was before Godzilla vs. Megaguirus (2000)
i already know who hydragon is its ghidorah or king ghidorah
i actually thought Hydreigon was based on the lernean hydra from greek mythology i mean the word hydra is in the name.
to me Tyranitar look's more like bemular from ultraman than Godzilla
There is a giant turtle with in the Toho universe
