      No problem. I know if *_I_* would find it useful, then others would too.
      (And I checked to see if it already existed first before I did this.) 👍

    My 91yr old mother had this leak for 9mos at $60 additional on her water bill a month...I watched this video and replaced the flapper and fixed the water level as if I was a pro... I am so very grateful (and proud)😁

    Thanks so much. This has been an on-and-off problem with one of our toilets for years. I'd bent down the bar a little that holds the float ball, and replaced the flapper, and that sort of worked, but the problem was never completely gone. Lately it's been running constantly, and I found your video. I had no idea that screw lowered the float height - mine only has one screw, not two as in the video. I screwed it in farther, and it worked! The bowl doesn't fill quite as high as before, but I assume that's OK. So thanks.
    And also, as another commenter said, thanks for getting right to the point. I can't stand it when I need to learn how to do something and the guy in the video fills the first five minutes with silly chatter and pointless introduction. Nice job. I've subscribed.

    I am so happy that I reviewed you video, because I was able to follow your instructions and resolve my float unit water level setting to approximately 1/2" from the top of the over flow tube. I got a call while at work from the water department stating they have noticed a unusual high amount of water usage at my home so may a pipe had broken, a toilet was malfunctioning, etc. I was worried that I was going to be greeted to a flooded basement especially if it was a problem that new toilet that I had just replaced 3 months ago because the old toilet keep had a constant running sound. I was told that I needed a new toilet which costed $235.00. Boy was I going to be mad if this new, and expensive toilet was defected or had gone bad in 3 months. Thanks for sharing your knowledge you save me that $125.00 to $130.00 plumber house call. I will check your online video in the future for simple solutions or repairs around the house before calling a service person, or plumber which is very costly at times. Thanks and God bless!

    I live in an apartment building. Routine Maintenance Requests are not being answered due to COVID. Only emergency situations are being addressed. My toilet started with the Phantom Flushing. I could hear the slightest water sound. The tank would fill but immediately start to drain again. Your video solved my problem. BTW I am a 73 year old woman who is pretty handy and hate having to contact maintenance to fix things. If I can do it myself I prefer to do so. THANK YOU for your video.

    There is a gasket on the plastic piece that is under the flapper. Does that get leaky when a toilet is 25+ years old? I have a slow leak between the tank and the bowl and have changed the flapper already but it still leaks resulting in a weak flush and gallons per day wasted if I don't turn the water off between flushes. How do I fix that?

    My fill valve is good, I just replaced it, it cuts off now, IT WEnt out due to tank leaking into toilet from flapper not sealing good,,,,,,,,, but my old flapper and the new one lets water leak by, on old and new flapper, so what to do now????? It's a crane tank, so I guess I need to get a "Crane" flapper???? I can push down on the top of each flapper slightly and it does quit leaking, but...........I can't stay home 24/7 and hold down on the flapper so it won't leak, lol............PLEASE ADVISE!!!!!! I thought about putting the chain through the hole in a heavy bolt NUT and the weight might hold it down and keep it from leaking, but it would have to be heavy enough to hold down the flapper with some good pressure but also be light enough so the flapper can still float a bit to let the water go into the hole to flush the toilet,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,HELP, PLEASE ADVISE

    • @HouseInProgress
      @HouseInProgress  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Flappers can be universal, it’s just a peice of rubber. Are you sure that you have the right diameter flapper?
      Also, is the chain to the handle loose or pulled taut?

    • @ozman1966
      @ozman1966 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HouseInProgress yea, old flapper looks brand new also, even cleaned it up real good, rubber is in great shape and soft, new flapper leaks also, both flappers will stop water if you push down on them in the middle with slight pressure and water trickling into toilet stops and pushing in the middle of the flapper firmly will seal the flapper and it won't leak anymore until you flush it again, yes, chain is perfect not too tight and not too loose, I installed a new fill valve because the old one would not cut off when tripped because I'm sure it came on too much due to tank water leaking into toilet so dang much, it's a Crane toilet, does Crane make a flapper for their own toilets?? I may go buy a Corky or do you recommend a flapper that normally does NOT leak and let water seep by??? The pipe the flapper falls on its in real good shape and not damaged and smooth on the inside walls of the pipe with no bumps or defects that would cause a seepage of water to trickle by the flapper after it falls down, just needs a flapper that "seals" real good, which one is the BEST???? THANKS IN ADVANCE

    Thank you! For me the new-looking flapper was the culprit. I pushed down on it and the running stopped just like you stated. It wasn't a solid piece of rubber like the one shown in the video. It was a blue rubber gasket surrounding a white plastic center which had a dial in it for some kind of adjustability. Years ago, I installed it with the chain too tight which pulled the blue rubber gasket away from the plastic center/hub just a tiny bit so it wasn't laying flat anymore. I reinserted the gasket into the hub, loosened the chain and problem solved!
