Drove around iceland in 3 weeks in autumn airbnb and cooked food ourselves....found it really good did 3016 KM on the loop...luved it..we cam from New Zealand so the most expensive thing was the flights and 40 hours of flying and airport time. The cost was on par with New zealand to be honest.
3 years flying around Iceland in an H 60 Blackhawk helicopter courtesy of the United States Air Force. Saw a lot of neat things, guess I should have learned how to be a photographer as well.
I’m only a factory worker who saved up for my dream location shoot . I head to Iceland this December and booked a photog tour that has only ten customers . Yes it is going to be very expensive but in my eyes I will not regret it . I will be happy to come away with only a few good images . It’s about the experience and to know that I was there 😊
I was there in June 2012, the most memorable trip. 10 days in a rental car, getting the best ever, then 10 minutes later another best ever! Noticed there is now parking lots and fences, shame. While over looking a falls and canyon with no safety stuff, I noticed a little sign, " while falling, please do not grab at the vegetation, it causes erosion ".
I had no desire to make a second trip to Iceland until you showed what it looks like between 10pm and 3am. 😍 To see those waterfalls without crowds in the way, backed by nonstop sunset and sunrise colors within just a few hours of each other. I'd go almost anywhere to see that!
I went to Iceland with my wife for the first time 2 years ago. And the big mistake we made was renting Airbnb. We will not do that anymore (unless it is the winter that we decided to go). Next trip we will probably rent a camper van and stay for a couple weeks. So we can be close to the places we want to see and not be bound by the Airbnb we have to be at at a certain date or have to drive a couple hours back to the Airbnb to get some sleep. I can not wait to see the rest of the videos. Iceland is probably my favorite destination. It feels so peaceful and so safe.
Great video as always Gavin... I went 12 years ago and was able to sleep eat and drink for zero money, I contacted some farming families around the Island and explained it was a dream of mine to photograph your beautiful country but finding it hard to get the money together, and asked if i could work for them 4 or 5 hours a day for a bed and some food and drink for a couple of weeks... after a phone call they said no problem and had the best trip of my life and now have friends over there for life and welcome to stay again.
Great video! My wife and I visited Iceland for 10 days back in September. Absolutely loved every second of it. Cannot wait to go back. Harvested as many decent photos as I have ever gotten. We only visited the southern part, where the furthest east we traveled was to the Vestrahorn mountains area, just a bit down the road from Höfn. While I might say that 3 weeks is a bit much, I think 10 days was toward the lower side. I would prefer another trip that is 14 to 16 days. Sidenote: on our first day there we went to Seljalandsfoss late in the day. Holy cow, I think there were fewer people in Disneyland than there were at that iconic waterfall that day. We were lucky to get a parking spot at all. Thank goodness for Photoshop's people removing capabilities!
loved this video Gavin, with some cracking images, Iceland looks like a photographers dream, it is a place on my bucket list, and on a budget sounds good to me, love the way you talk us through your compositions, thanks foe shearing.
Never seen Iceland like you have shown it here. The idea that it would be that bright at that time of the night very occurred to me. Yes Iceland on a budget video.
It's very interesting to hear someone talk about the cost associated with travel to some of these iconic locations, I had a similar thought after an eye-wateringly expensive 2 week trip to Switzerland. While you can work out ways to spend less on travel there's a point at which it starts to have a negative impact on your enjoyment of the trip itself... so finding the right balance is tough, and then the weather can make or break your experience anyway! Looks like you've had an epic experience though, thanks for sharing!
Great video as always. I am planning a trip to Iceland shortly and would like to hear more hints and tips on visiting there on a budget because I agree, it's not cheap
Iceland has fascinated me for a long time-majestic landscapes, raw nature, glaciers, geysers, and endless open spaces! I haven’t had the chance to visit yet, but I already feel it’s an extraordinary place. For now, I’ll stay focused on the beautiful landscapes of Austria, which are closer to home. But who knows, maybe one day I’ll head north to capture those incredible Icelandic scenes! Warm regards!
Thanks for this video Gavin, I would definitely love to see a video on going to Iceland on a budget. I went with my wife and two sons in August 2018 for four days on the way to England. We got a great deal from Iceland Air on the flight, and it’s only five hours from New York, probably only about 3-3.5 hours from Halifax. We also got a good deal on the hotel, but eating out is where it gets you. I did not do much photography because it would have been unfair on the boys, but I would love to go back. We were there in an Icelandic heatwave - sunshine all the way and day time highs of 19-20C. We saw a tour guide taking photographs at Vik, because, she said, “I never see Iceland like this.”
I really like your drone shots. They always leave me wanting more, so they are just the right length! Before I checked news of Iceland, I would have thought prices would be bargin with only a few tourists braving the volcano. Well the Blue Lagoon has reopened, so it must be over. Can't wait to see more of the trip!
Iceland is amazing - possibly my favourite place on the planet. Been there 4 times but never more than a week at a time, taking in a different area each time. For me, whilst I enjoyed the South, the North is my favourite area. Much quieter / desolate and cheaper too!
You are one of my favorite Landscape photography. Because if you don't like what you shoot you will never post it on this channel and like your sense of hummer. I am writing here also I will be interested to see how you will plan to go to Iceland on a budget. Anyway you always inspire me to go out and enjoy my landscape photography. Keep it up. And always ready to see how this shoot turns out,
I am SO excited to see your Iceland videos, and YES, I would love to see your perspectives on seeing Iceland on a budget! My brother was stationed in Iceland for a couple of years in the 70s and came home with 3,000 slides. They were incredible, but he had used bus tour companies so he didn't have morning/evening light, most shots were through the bus windows, and he only had a basic lens, but still -- the landscape was otherworldly, and I've always wanted to go there.
Absolutely wonderful video Gavin and Amanda. The quality of the video itself was really nice and what beautiful images you captured. Loved it and looking forward to more.
My wife and I went to Iceland in August 2022 and it has some amazing scenery. Expensive, yes, but lots of places are more expensive. Just remember this though “Travel is one of the few things that costs you money but makes you richer”.
Absolutely would appreciate you doing a video about travelling/shooting Iceland on a budget! I look forward to it, as I look forward to all your videos. Thank you.
I went to Iceland a few years ago, we rented a 4x4 and camped in a tent. Only one night was horrendous, we ended up staying in a hostel of sorts. Drove around the island in a little over a week. I wasn't as keen on landscape photography as I am now. Another trip is on the cards, probably another summer adventure, but with greater knowledge and more patience. Great content Gavin. A couple of answers for you - Iceland on a budget, yes. Mankini in red, bright red.
Great video, a couple of stupendas shots, and most def you should do a video on Iceland on a Budget, even maybe depending on how much time you want to put into it, some locations, places to stay, that kind of thing, Iceland is on my bucket list of places to go, Keep up the good work.
Smashing video and wonderful images! I visited Iceland just for a few days and would love to return at some point. I look forward to your next videos and yeah for sure it would be good to hear your thought on how one could save money etc when visiting! Cheers
No shenanigans? What's a Fototripper vid without shenanigans! My first trip to Iceland was with a group and not being able to go where I wanted and shoot when I wanted was frustrating as hell. I've been dying to go back on my own, so PLEASE make a video on visiting Iceland on the cheap!
Thoroughly enjoyed this video! Love the way it does not get dark in Iceland during the summer, would hate the opposite in winter though. Iceland on a budget would be wonderful.
Finally the Iceland content has started!! 😊 Iceland on a budget seems interesting. The last time I’ve been to Iceland was 10 years ago and we did go on a budget, but even then it was much more expensive than maybe a trip to Majorca or Spain. I somehow doubt that I would get far today with what I paid for 10 days (around 1800€ pP all incl.) back then. 😅
When I was in Iceland for the second time I went nocturnal (it was mid-June) and it worked a treat. Golden hour lasted for hours and I got midnight sun as well. On one occasion I made the sun rise and set numerous times just by walking a few steps up and then down a hill and repeating. I was also camping and that helps a lot to keep the costs down.

Tresmendous Gavin. Yes please to Iceland on a budget 😉

Funny sign 🤣 while still sending a good warning message.
Great video and Yes please put a video together for Iceland on a budget!
I had no desire to make a second trip to Iceland until you showed what it looks like between 10pm and 3am. 😍 To see those waterfalls without crowds in the way, backed by nonstop sunset and sunrise colors within just a few hours of each other. I'd go almost anywhere to see that!

we simply used a tent which we carried with us on our motorbike. That was the biggest sense of freedom and a great and inimate nature experiance.
Great video as always Gavin... Iceland on a budget video please
An absolute YES for an Iceland on a Budget video!
LOVE the idea of a "planning" type vid on Iceland - its a bucket list place for me but as always, any help very gratefully received.
Yes absolutely
The light at Skogafoss was awesome. Definitely do the "budget" video!

Oh jeez, he drops the "lenticular" word straight away. This is going to be epic.
I'd love a video about how to photo travel through Iceland on a budget! Thank you for another fun and inspiring vlog.
I want to see it! I mean both, you in a bright green mankini lit by the afterglow and the iceland on a budget!
loved this video Gavin, with some cracking images, Iceland looks like a photographers dream, it is a place on my bucket list, and on a budget sounds good to me, love the way you talk us through your compositions, thanks foe shearing.
My dream is Iceland with the Northern Lights during the winter!!!
September is best for the Northern lights and it's easier to get around, less snow!
Great video Gavin! And yes to the budget video.
Iceland on a budget for sure! Would love to see that video.
Reading the comments previous to mine, I'd say that's a massive "Yes, Please!" an Iceland on a Budget video would be greatly appreciated. : )
I'll add a vote for an Iceland-on-a-budget video.
Never seen Iceland like you have shown it here. The idea that it would be that bright at that time of the night very occurred to me. Yes Iceland on a budget video.
Good start for Iceland videos. Waiting for more.
Iceland on a budget, oh yessss, please please please!
Love your “I do have a face” jokes, cracks me up every time! 😂🤣😂🤣
Yes, I would like to see a video about visiting Iceland on a budget. Great video and epic conditions btw
Yes, I would love a video on Iceland on a budget.
A video about the costs involved, picking locations, packing (and picking) your camera gear for the trip would be fantastic.
It's very interesting to hear someone talk about the cost associated with travel to some of these iconic locations, I had a similar thought after an eye-wateringly expensive 2 week trip to Switzerland. Yes on the budget Iceland advice video!

Amazing video 👍🤓👍 (As always 📸) 🙂
My wife and I went to Iceland in August 2022 and it has some amazing scenery. Expensive, yes, but lots of places are more expensive. Just remember this though “Travel is one of the few things that costs you money but makes you richer”.

Iceland… just like the New York Skyline: Thousands of pictures already, but you still have to take the shot😏
Thank you for the video.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video! Love the way it does not get dark in Iceland during the summer, would hate the opposite in winter though. Iceland on a budget would be wonderful.
Definitely interested in an Iceland visit guide for landscape photographers both for saving money and locations, routes, etc.

Yes, please do a video on Iceland on a budget! I am a school teacher, hoping to travel to do photography when I retire.
When I was in Iceland for the second time I went nocturnal (it was mid-June) and it worked a treat. Golden hour lasted for hours and I got midnight sun as well. Great video ..I would love to see a video on Iceland on a budget 👍
Thank you for the sale. Just downloaded Chasing Awe. Looks great.
Thanks muchly :)
Would be very interested in your tips for Iceland on a budget. Awesome video as usual.
I'd be interested in the budget video. Iceland has been a bucket list item for a very long time for me.
Utterly amazing! Definitely one of those bucket list locations.
