    My 85 yr old father gets the grandchild call all the time. We've come up with a code word or specific memory that he asks. Of course the scammers don't know it and boy, do they get off the phone fast! The sad part is the numbers come up as the medical facilities he uses and he's typically waiting for a call from them.

    LOVE YOU CLARK SWEETIE! I'm a bag designer and i was considering putting my bags on FB market place to sell them. i asked some of my friends and sewing club information on it and some said it was pretty good in selling, BUT my instincts said DO YOUR RESEARCH ON THIS before doing this. I AM SO GLAD I DID! Nah, i will not be putting my bags on FB market place.

    Howard, Has the law changed? About 15 years ago (when I was 59) some law required truth in fees for 401K’s. When I saw how much the fees were, (about one months of my input per year) I talked to our HR department and easily rolled the money in my 401K out over to Vangaurd, to the same targeted retirement fund. I continued my 401K (back at zero again) with my employer and when I did retire at age 67 and a half moved that money to another brokerage firm.

    My dad was a very abusive husband and father, and a drinker. He never did anything in public, but I'm sure the neighbors heard his raised voice and all kinds of commotion at our home. I wish to this day that someone had intervened because my mother, as with all other women in that situation, don't see a way out and they don't know what to do because they're threatened, and they are the weaker person in the relationship physically! When my mother went to the police one time, they just laughed at her... Nowadays people are much more aware but back then it was never spoken about and my mother and my siblings suffer to this day.

    I had a similar thing happen as a teenager of domestic violence on a woman from a man . We chased down a guy who hit a women by vehicle with the hope a cop would see us . This was back in the 1970s . A police cruiser did see us and pulled us over with shot guns pulled and we all had to get on the ground . The women that got hit denied it happened . The officer gave me a reckless driving ticket . Went to court to explain but the judge did not buy it but probably a new one for his ears to hear . It's not unusual for a women to accept the abuse do to fear . Probably wasn't a good idea to have a car chase but you don't know how bad the situation could get
    I had a short stint as a military police officer and domestic violence was one of the more scarier calls to get . Very unpredictable . With so many guns in our society you could get yourself in a worse situation getting involved .

    I appreciate the heads up about Facebook Marketplace. I'm not on social media yet but seeking the best way to sell high quality furniture and household goods that I bought new. This is one venue that I'm considering. The video mentioned something to read up on first, not sure where that info is; would be helpful.

    • @akbj2779
      @akbj2779 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, for FB Marketplace, My impression as a very occasional seller / buyer. People are looking for major deals. I've seen really nice furniture at higher prices posted and then it'll say how long it's been posted for and it seems like frequently it'll be 4-8 weeks. I've sold a few very inexpensive items (DVD box sets for one example that were in new condition & popular shows) and had to reduce the price to very little. And I provide lots of photos and detailed descriptions. You wouldn't believe some of the items I've seen posted with no description, no size given, only one or two photos. If you do try to sell, just provide a lot of photos and detailed sizes and descriptions. Also people frequently list the item as "used, like new" and the item is obviously very well used. That makes me laugh.

      @@akbj2779 Thanks for the helpful feedback! I agree with photos, description, measurements. Takes time if one has to sell much of one's household but if lacking can turn off a potential buyer if it takes extra effort to get the information.

    Yes, criminals are actively targeting women that are distracted and trying to steal their smart phones. More than 10 years ago, A man approached me and my young child in a supermarket while we were grocery shopping. He asked to use my phone to call home. He said his car broke down on the busy road and he needed to call his wife for help. He must have been following us in the store because he knew I had a phone because I was using it to read my shopping list. My phone was in my jacket pocket, so I told him I didn’t have a phone. He kept it up. At this point I knew he was trying to steal my phone. I started walking towards the front of the store to find some employees. I told him let’s go find the store manager. He can help you. Or maybe the police can help you.
    He got nervous and quickly left the store. I found the manager and told him what happened. They said I wasn’t the first woman to tell them this happened in their store. Clark - do an episode on people trying to steal your phone.

      That's an example of AI voice duplication being used. They take voices of celebrities for education videos to get people interested in the subject. Sounds great in theory. But it's almost always done without the consent of the celebrities, and it misleads viewers into thinking it's actually them.
      Conversely, there are occasions where celebrities might make a guest appearance to a class or conference. Doesn't mean they're an actual professor though. But they might be good at or enjoy the subject and therefore make the guest appearance to get the class engaged and excited about the subject.
      There are also a few celebrities that have earned PhDs. Mayim Bialik is a great example. She played a wiz kid in Blossom and a neuroscientist in Big Bang Theory, and she's an Actual Neuroscientist and has a PhD in real life.
