    I’ve used the ZoomX Dragonfly Spike in 1600, 3200, and 5000 meter It’s a very comfortable and good racing spike for cross country and track which I’m definitely going to be using this spike for my upcoming season of track & field.

      You can use it for sprinting. Most sprinters choose the maxfly since it’s made for that but you can use it for sure.

    I’m going to try the Nike Air zoom victory In the 5000m. Will test both the dragonfly and Victory in a training session, but Nike does say that it goes up to 5000m and running 3:04 pr/km I Think that victory Will do the job Maybe. Stil testing Them both and Galen Rupp also raced the us 10.000m trials In the Nike Air zoom victory

    • @RunWithJ

    I bought the Dragonfly’s and I run mainly the 800m. Do you think they would work good for an 800 even though it’s more of a distance spike?

    • @RunWithJ
      @RunWithJ  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Kylie, these would work fine for the 800s. There are sprinting spikes meant for shorter distances like the air zoom victory’s. They might be a little faster overall but if you don’t want to get another spike the dragonfly will give you more flexibility and a more comfortable overall spike.

      Hi Ayden, those are some great times! I think you made a good decision. I would’ve picked the victory for those distances too since I think it’s a little faster. I think anything around 5k would be better for the dragonfly.

    Hey there. A bit late 😅. I’m mainly a 16 and 32 runner with the occasional 8. Since I’m mostly going to double is the dragonfly a better choice since maybe it can save my legs better for my next race? Or are victories the better choice in this scenario.

  • @liamsi75
    @liamsi75 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hi, i've had Nike "Hyperfeel free" that are not produced anymore, i'm looking for a replacement, since i'm used to the minimalistic style and shape, only spiked shoes are close to that. My question is will they be OK to run on wet beach sand with spikes removed ? (that's where the majority of my runs are)

    • @RunWithJ
      @RunWithJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can if you don’t plan on using them on the track. The sand might corrode the holes for the spikes. Also some spikes have lots of holes and openings so it’ll get in your shoes if you don’t mind

    Thanks for the informative video! Which do you think would be best for a primarily 1600 and 3200 runner, with the occasional 800? As a side note, I have very little experience with running in spikes, if that makes a difference. Durability and price are also factors. Thank you!

    • @RunWithJ
      @RunWithJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I would say if you have little experience with spikes, then the dragonfly would be my choice as it’s not as aggressive and help you ease into it being it’ll be more comfortable. It’s more than capable of doing those distances too.

    great video, have you looked at the hoka Cielo x mds? i was considering getting them for the 400-800 and was wondering what you thought as an option as i am debating between them and the dragonflies? (note I haven't had as much experience with spikes and thus and not leaning towards the air zoom victory)

    • @RunWithJ
      @RunWithJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I haven’t tried the cielo yet but dragonflies seems to be the spikes now for anything not 100-400m. I’m sure they are good spikes as well but it’s hard to beat the flies when it comes to comfort and speed.

    • @RunWithJ
      @RunWithJ  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi lander, if you want to settle for one I think the air zoom victory would be good choice you’re doing mid distance mostly and still have speed for the 800s. The dragonfly would be the second option.

    • @RunWithJ
      @RunWithJ  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You could but if the terrain is really rough it might destroy your shoes very quickly. If it’s just grass and flat then it could be ok for one race. I wouldn’t recommend it for like rocky or asphalt.

    • @RunWithJ
      @RunWithJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

  • @figbootbottom6511
    @figbootbottom6511 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is pretty late but I was wondering which spike I should get if I’m running the 1k and the mile this coming indoor season. I heard that the victory’s are not very durable and the zoomx foam would separate from the bottom plate. Is this true?

    • @RunWithJ
      @RunWithJ  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t had any issues with the victories but the foam because it’s so soft does wear rather quickly on the bottom but they should last a couple seasons at least. I would go with those but you can use the dragonfly too which is very popular and those are a little cheaper more comfortable and should last longer.

    • @RunWithJ
      @RunWithJ  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use it for any distance but it’s meant for longer distances since it has the most cushion. Most sprinting spikes are more aggressive and give you more speed. Nike recommends the air zoom victory for that distance

    How is the durability with the Air Zoom Vics.? I hear they have a problem with the airbag going flat. My HS son runs the 400 and indoor 300. i would like to get him the Vics but i 'm worried about durability

    • @RunWithJ
      @RunWithJ  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      On the track the foam gets worn pretty quickly after a couple uses which is mostly cosmetic but it’s meant for races only so If it’s only used for that it should last a couple of seasons at least. But if it’s used for occasional training runs as well it will wear down faster.

      Hey Sandro, yeah the viper fly got banned. Was a shame that no one could try it. I would say for 100 and 200 the superfly elite would be better.
