Whaaa? I used to love the videos of you and Kohei pawing through games and manga on your old channel. Congrats on your job at the Strong Museum! Looks so cool!
@MetalJesusRocks I work across the street from the Strong Museum. It is the coolest thing to go to as an adult or to take your kids to. It's challenging to make time for everything in one day which is awesome. Glad you had a good time.

Glad you were able to make it out to the Upstate NY area! Appreciate your kind words about your experiences and we hope you are able to return to us soon!
The Strong National Museum of play is kind of a point of pride for native Rochestarians so it's dope to see someone giving it a more national bump. They put together a really neat book a few years ago called "The History of Video Games in 64 objects". Also if you didnt you shiuld try a garbage plate next time. It's a very weird but amazing local dish that's seeped into basically every burger joint, most diners, and a lot of pizza places.
oh man....I genuinely want to live in that museum storage area...it's what we all dream of and will never come close to touching. That was legitimately the most amazing thing I've ever seen in retro game collecting. Thanks for getting in there to show us that...wow...just wow!
It was pretty funny rifling through a box of Atari cartridges only to realize it was you standing right next to me doing the same thing. Fun meeting you in person.
I’ve lived in the Syracuse area my whole life. Had the pleasure of going to Green Lakes many times and have been to the Strong museum a few years ago. Looking forward to getting there again. I go to RetroGameCon every year and always have a good time. I even had a table this year to show off my indie game. I’m glad you liked Syracuse, lots of great parks in the area worth checking out next time you’re here.
Like you I am a Metal guy, when I met my wife in the 90's she was listening to Stereolab all the time. I never expected to see one of their albums in one of your videos. People should definitely give them a listen.
I grew up in Syracuse, and lived in Rochester in the late 90s. I always hit up the Sound Garden when I go home. I gotta say, this vid made me homesick. It's cool to see a few of my favorite TH-camrs in my old stomping grounds.
Watching this video almost 3 months later, and I'm so glad you went to Strong Museum. As someone born and raised in Rochester, but hasn't been back in almost 7 years, that took me right back to so many childhood memories. Thanks MJR!
As someone who was Western New York born and raised (since moved south in 2010), the rest of New York State is chock full of natural beauty. The problem is the 5 month winters that are mind numbingly awful. Destroyed roads, destroyed underneath cars, and destroyed backs from shoveling snow. I don't miss it.
The nature views were such a treat, MJR. I've always wanted to visit New York in autumn and the footage did not disappoint. Thank you for sharing that!
While everybody's out there on Black Friday likely trampling each other over deals (as always), I'm sitting and peacefully watching an MJR video. Thanks!
I'll never get people running to shops in person on Black Friday! You get pretty much the same deals, or better ones online and nobody tries to kill you over a stupid TV or a blender 🤣! I'm always amused by watching the compilations of people doing it though. It's always hilarious!
So glad you liked ROC and The Cuse! I've lived in both cities, so they hold a nostalgic place in my heart. Next time you visit Rochester, check out the Record Archive and House of Guitars, two iconic music stores.
I live in Rochester and I have been rebuffed to get a inside tour like that. I have a LARGE collection myself and a minute TH-camChannel. I guess its good to be big ;-) Great content as always Jason.
I love the contrast of the John St. John advertising looking like a respectable intellectual and the actual dude looking like he wears "Foxy Grandpa" hats.
Love those antique card and board games from the 1930s and prior. Such cool artwork and vibe. Would be a very fun thing to collect... and surprisingly affordable too, as far as antiques go. I found Parker Brothers hidden tiles for $40 -- and some of the others featured here for even less.
Nice to see Ryan (Mystic)! I just thought where else I remember the name Syracuse and then suddenly I remembered Level 4 Syracuse (BMX XXX) 🙂 Good way to start weekend with this go to NY Retro + Retro museum!

It was great to finally meet you. Very nice to see you enjoyed yourself while you were out here. If you fly into Rochester and stay out this way...Syracuse is just over an hour away, and you would only be about an hour and a half from Niagara Falls. Not sure if that was on your list of things to see. Outstanding video. You covered so much in just this video. Hope to see you guys next year too. 😊👍
Really enjoyed this one! You combined everything i love about your travel videos, blended with your expo and game/music pickups vids-and seeing John Riggs with you is always a treat.

I met that guy in your video Mezmoron in Dayton, Ohio while attending a school for the Air Force. He saw me looking at a copy of Marvel vs Capcom on Dreamcast and we got to talking about how Dreamcast was my first system and all my childhood games were stolen at some point as a kid. I was on the fence about getting it so he pulled out $5 cash to throw towards it so I would buy it. At that point I had to pull the trigger on it! Cool dude I remember he was from PA because I live not far in Delaware. Dreamcast is so gnarly!
Retro game con was amazing. I doubt you remember but me and my one friend saw you walking around towards the old computers and asked for a picture. It was awesome meeting you

Ah, the Skid Row debut... A lot of teenage memories with that one. I remember the band, bursting with attitude and confidence, absolutely DESTROYING headliners Motley Crue at the Stockholm gig back in 1989. A total massacre. 😄 Just a few days ago I got my old Skid Row vinyl back, along with about 50 other old metal / hard rock albums that have been stored away in my friend's attic for at least 15 years. I'm not even sure my vinyl player works any more, but there were some cool and unexpected albums in there so I guess I'll have to give it a try.
My favorite TH-camr came to my home town and posted the video on my birthday! BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!!! Seriously though, I'm so glad you made the trip to and enjoyed The Strong Museum of Play. It's one of the coolest museums on the planet.
Hey Mjr. My name is David id like to thank you for your videos, you really have a way with editing or i dont know what but your videos really relax me. I am a huge vídeo game buff but i currently dont have and cant afford to have a videogame collection. Anyways keep doing what your doing and thank you again for being such a genuine person. I love these videos of yours! I rewatched your old Japan series a bunch of times before you finally released the new/post covid Japan trip which I also watched. It was even cooler than before because I just went and travelled in Japan for a week myself this summer. Note to anyone thinking about going to Japan, just like MJR said it is so devilishly hot and humid there that everyone carries an umbrella to shade themselves. My advice don't go during the summer. They have pretty much the same seasons at the same time as we have in the U.S. Every day during the summer consisted of waking up and showering and getting dressed only to step outside and immediately be dripping sweat. And it then it doesn't stop. After an hour I looked like a homeless American stranded in Tokyo. I can say the train system is quite nice and nicely air conditioned. Everywhere indoor for the most part had A/C, kind of a must there I guess. Before you leave the Airport, stop at one of the portable or "pocket" wifi rental stations. For a very reasonable rate you can rent a portable wifi hotspot that operates off of their local cellular networks. You'll have some difficulty navigating the subway system with out one. Or at least being able to read and speak Japanese will help. Lots of people speak English though also.
I moved to up state ny (Rochester) recently. You picked some really good spots to venture out and see. Next retro games con I will try and see you there
