Wow MJ, you brought me a lot of memories this time. ❤️
More than seven years have now passed since my trip to Tokyo, but it's as if I was there yesterday. :)
I'm Italian, so I'm very satisfied with my food, but Japanese cuisine is definitely third on my list (Thai is second).
This video is very exciting because you covered all the places I've been (except the Gundam factory, because that day I was sick and I gave the tickets to two Japanese guys).
I can’t remember if you had already visited them in previous videos but I would like to recommend three must haves for your next trip:
the Ghibli museum (wonderful), the Robot Restaurant (crazy) and the Kabuki theater (an experience, even if - of course - you can't understand anything).
you are an amazing storyteller, thank you for your special reports. :)

So my wife and I went to Japan for our honeymoon earlier this year in July, and it has been so cool to watch these videos and recognize spots we went to as well as see things we'll need to try next time we go. A couple of things you may want to check out for your next Japan trip I didn't see in your videos:
    1) There's a street in Tokyo that is filled with back-to-back guitar shops. It's right near Ochanomizu Station in Tokyo and it was so cool to go to one store, see all of the guitars/pedals, and then walk out only to go to the store right next door and look at their stuff. It's also really well organized so you'll have one floor with Japanese guitars, one floor with Gibson, one with Fender, etc.
    2) Ramen is cool, but my favorite food ever is curry and Japanese curry is awesome. We went to this curry house chain called CoCo Ichibanya and it was amazing. Super good curry that's highly customizable and there's at least one in every prefecture/city. It's my Roman Empire at this point and it makes me so sad I can't go for curry at one here.
The wife and I went to a convenience store probably every day we were there and knew which one to go to for the good hot food (7/11 curry buns were pretty next level). I'd be curious to know if you had a favorite convenience store while there.

We really enjoyed the suburban prefectures around the bigger cities but we also headed western region and did Hiroshima and Kumamoto which we throughly enjoyed. For a while it was my only option for a GOOD Bacon, Egg n Cheese. Ya know? Great tater tots, French toast (with brioche bread), grilled cheese, etc. So American. And we don't get many places here that do American food well. You'd think it's easy fast food yet they still fuck it up in the UK somehow.

    Great to see this.
We were scheduled to go with my daughter as a last hurrah before she goes off to college when Covid hit. Shame we never got the chance as it was planned as a once in a lifetime trip.

One modern game that covers a lot of Tokyo in detail including some of its iconic places is Ghostwire: Tokyo (PC/ PS5/ XSeries), with added in-game collectibles inspired from local lore. It is a great experience if one is interested in exploring Tokyo from the comfort of couch with a controller :)

Thank you for your videos! You have inspired me and my cousin to go next year for a couple of weeks. We are going to start booking stuff this Saturday. We plan to do Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo with some of the day trips mentioned. Hope fully we'll be able to do Super Nintendo World. I'll be trying to hunt down some Sega Saturn games while there. Again, thank you so very much for the inspiration.

It’s a very different game cover than what used in the US…so I didn’t know what it was at first. Pretty cool find!

I wanna go so bad but it's too expensive for me. Currently living check to check pretty much. London is too expensive as it is. But yeah, it's always been a dream of mine since I was a young teen and saw Japan on the internet. Seeing all the places you can go, vlogs (one TH-cam was a thing) and just documentaries. I still don't speak any Japanese so maybe I should start with that.

In general, going off the beaten path will lead to better finds. Ask locals where to eat and shop. Avoid touristy spots. Small game shops and second hand stores will have some surprising finds on the cheap, and a 90-year-old family-run restaurant will have better food, again on the cheap, than the chains or other big places. Just look in the store to see who's there. If you don't see a lot of foreigners, you're in for a treat.

We went for a month, had to buy another suitcase.. 48KG of final fantasy stuff, consoles and games. The best stuff is at bookoffs in small places like Shiba! Me and my wife loved the tresure hunt. Good hunting

I was just in Japan last week. Akihabara is picked through. No grails, no Japan exclusive consoles. It's all gone.
