    Correction: Mario Artist was always called Mario Artist.
    The "Maker Series" were a set of seperate creation tools that would have been developed by Randnet as a company, but never came to be. The Maker Series was comprised of "Sound Maker", "Game Maker", "Graphical Message Maker" and "Video Jockey Maker".
    They have similar names to Mario Artist's "Picture Maker" (Paint Studio), "Talent Maker" (Talent Studio), "Polygon Maker" (Polygon Studio) and even "Sound Maker" (Sound Studio) where there was an overlap, but in reality they have nothing to do with each other.
    There's also longer versions of these Mario Artist videos in this specific promotional video that I recently reuploaded in HD: th-cam.com/video/AyjHHIPdTmM/w-d-xo.html

    Temple of time exterior is very interesting, as far as I can remember there's no camera movement like that anywhere else in the game for the pre-rendered sections.

    • @SgtSega

      Yeah they went with a few still camera angles instead.

    It is so simmilar to the final release that every area is easily recognizable.

    • @Solaceon
      @Solaceon 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It was so close to done, sometimes I wonder what it would have been like if they released it anyway. Assuming the DD still failed the same because I don't think it would have fixed it or anything Majora's Mask would have been normal 64 stuff and Zelda 64 probably would have been a cult classic in the future. Interesting stuff.

    • @kevinfromsales9445

    Wow holy crap, its the temple of time from the gigaleak *in motion*
    We only had still images before, and for the longest time we thought it was a static background like the final.
    Then we found it in the gigaleak and discovered it was a panorama, but the way the panorama was built implied that the camera moved both horizontally and vertically.
    This isn't really the smoking gun, more like the police showing up right as the murder is happening

    • @OKeijiDragon
      @OKeijiDragon 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      But makes me wonder how it would have looked like when/if they applied the masking textures on the wall beside the stairway back to the market, should Link go behind it.
      I can imagine that would have been extremely difficult and time consuming just to even get it to look aesthetically presentable; I wouldn't be surprised that was the reason for still images for the final.

    1:21 That one Mario RPG screenshot that's been circulating the internet for years, still as blurry as ever.
    4:50 A more spherical pre-rendered Temple of Time backdrop. Also, Navi on the B button, and the sword on A.

  • @ryguy7227
    @ryguy7227 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Interesting to me is the buttons in the Ocarina footage. They identify the A button as the button to use the sword and the B button as the action button. Not only that, but the B button has the text "Navi." I guess we knew about different button configurations being used in the game's development, but it's cool to see official footage of it.

      Maybe they were removed so you could use Bomb Flowers to open up rock walls instead? It would kind of make sense inside a cavern. It gets the player used to how bombs work in a 3D space too until they get the bag for them.

      Mother 3 wasn’t going well in 3D, so they decided to switch to 2D. Otherwise it would’ve been continued onward to GC like games like Animal Crossing. Literally identical to the original N64 graphics, and people still loved it.

    • @markus5862
      @markus5862 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don’t think they even gave it a chance in japan. You could only buy it through a magazine, no? What took so long for the damn thing to come out?! It should’ve been released congruently with the actual n64 itself (Both at the same time). They kinda blocked themselves in though and restricted themselves to the cartridge space. They kinda were forced to make a full and whole game in the space limitations of the cartridge because what would they do, release the game with the cartridge that had a disk with it? They should’ve went cd. There’s really not all that much you can do with the DD stuff except have like additional content. Maybe if they strictly went with disks instead of carts, maybe that would’ve been better maybe? A really big game could be released with two disks?
